With You
Title: Be Careful What You Wish For
Author: Shelia
Rating: NC-17 for graphic imagery, language, angst and cornfields.
Pairing: Kaloe
Spoilers: Anything before Jinx
Disclaimers/Author’s Notes: Long Disclaimer Alert!
It’s a crying shame, but Kal-el, Chloe and the rest of the Smallville universe do not belong to me. They, and the lyrics from Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory spattered about as chapter names and bits of mooding belong to TPTB and this bit of ‘what if’ is in no way meant to infringe on any copyrights.
I must confess, my Chlarky heart was so broken at the fascinatingly evil ‘Don’t you wish’, line, that I had to make up an excuse for Chloe letting Clark out of the penalty box much, much too early for such an seemingly unforgivable transgression. We all knew it was Lionel, but she didn’t, so this is my humble offering to our long-suffering Chloe. A dark take on what could have occurred between Transference and Jinx. I hope you enjoy!

Chapter One: With You
The dusty and cracked asphalt was warm beneath her toes as she stepped out of her car. Chloe smiled up at the clear moonless night, the uncountable stars serene glittering jewelry for the black velvet Kansas sky. She held her breath as if waiting for a promise.
Cornfields ran for acres on either side of the road, the tall dying stalks rustling a warning to her in the crisp Fall air as the night answered with the birth of a sun overhead. A falling, screaming newborn sun that crashed with deafening light and blinding sound in the field across from her.
The earth skewed at the blow and Chloe gasped as the shockwave overwhelmed her, slamming her back against her car. The red painted metal was cold against her back and she realized she was completely nude.
Her body responded to the violent caress of energy, her nipples hardened painfully, a low throb pounded to life, low in her belly and Chloe shuddered with the longing and need that called out to her. A need that pleaded and demanded.
“Chloe.”
The praying resonance of her name drew her through the maze of tall stalks, to the edge of a clearing that had exploded into the cornfield ahead of her and she thrust away the tilting brown stalks, ignoring the bite of thin sharp leaves that razored symbols on her fair skin as she stumbled towards the light.
Stumbled towards the light and the shadows that danced within. Shadows that outlined a glowing form bound with thick ropes to a cross of rough wood. Fire sparked in unreadable patterns around the clearing as electricity gathered in the air above.
The bound male panted with the effort to raise his head. Demon-dark hair wildly framed the astoundingly beautiful face of a young god. His jaw clenched in fear and anger as he struggled against the ropes, the wood. His nostrils flared as he took a deep breath then released it with a deep growl that seemed to sing with the building thunder.
Lightening flashed as he tilted his face towards her and she could feel him tremble as emotions warred over his exquisite features. Yearning danced with disbelief and he looked boldly into her eyes with unadulterated hope.
Recognition was a wall she slammed into and she cried out as she watched, watched his powerful muscles tense and flex as his trapped body tried to twist towards her.
His eyes blazed blue with mesmerizing intensity. Chloe was ensnared in an amazing cobalt universe and his voice pleaded with her softly.
“Please don’t leave me.”
The fear, the need, the longing was all encompassing and Chloe mourned as chaos ruled and she moaned under the onslaught of energy building and crackling in the air.
“Help me.” He demanded, and strained in his bonds as the sky seemed to open up above them. Lightening forked spectacularly overhead and the thunder was a slow vibration, a threat of ever increasing sound and Chloe fell to her knees below him.
She couldn’t seem to focus reality. There were echoes and layers of possibilities fighting for her attention. She felt cornstalks, rough, hard beneath her knees as she fought to stay upright in the steadily increasing wind of sound that made her body hum and shudder uncontrollably. Chloe looked upwards, guided by music of his voice and she squinted through tears and wind.
“Chloe. Please.”
He was all bright light and shadow that pulsed with musical colors that she could feel on her skin.
Pure musical tones of blue. Of red. Of gold. The scar on his chest radiated with his colors, burned with the colors that chased pure fire across the symbol branded into his muscled chest. His gloriously naked body writhed in agony, or was that pleasure?
Chloe wanted to move, tried to reach out to him, but the wind, the sound, the very light burning from his body beat her down and she cried out at the waves of energy that threatened, that promised, that begged as he threw his head back and screamed viciously at the sky.
“NO!”
“Kal-el!” the sky and Chloe screamed back.
And all of reality exploded with a lethal pleasure.
