THE PATHS OF INDECISION
"Clark, I really don't see you as the type of individual who would spend some time in a stripclub," Lex Luthor said from the safety of his desk. "Why the sudden manifestation?"
Clark Kent took a second, examining Lex's face for any sign of a go ahead, but Lex didn't see to give him one. Rather, Lex remained in a state of silence, not letting off any sign of movement, thought or feeling.
"Lex, someone's life is at risk," Clark said taking a defensive stance almost instinctively.
"Why am I not surprised?" Lex said, leaning back in his car. "An innocent civilian's life is at risk and Clark Kent rushes off to save the day."
"I don't have time for this," Clark returned demanding the floor.
"You never seem to. Almost as if you have some big secret you're keeping from me," Lex returned looking Clark directly in the eye. "No matter. What do you need?"
"I need to get into a high class stripclub," Clark said almost stumbling through his words. "A highly exclusive club."
"In Metropolis, I take it?" Lex said, not taking his eyes off Clark. Almost like a bird watching a mouse and waiting for the right moment to attack.
"Yes," Clark responded instinctively.
"Before I do anything to help you I want to make you fully aware of something," Lex said, climbing up from his chair.
"What's that, Lex?" Clark said, following Lex's every step.
"Just because I offer you help doesn't mean the world isn't going to throw you a few curveballs along the way," Lex found himself stopping and looking out of his stain glass window, the window reflecting its purple, blue and red across his face. "You have a sense of trust about you that's going to get you killed at some point. You trusted me once. Now, I'm only doing this as a favor and have no intent in returning to a level of friendship with one another. You choose to ignore me, I choose to ignore you. You accept what I have to give you and I don't expect to ever see you, again. Are we clear?"
"Crystal," Clark returned waiting for Lex to do something.
Lex paused for a moment looking further out at the world. With a slow turn, Lex moved forward, reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. For only a few seconds, Lex moved through it and pulled out a solid white plastic card.
"I trust this will prove itself worthy," Lex said, looking Clark directly in the eyes again.
"Thanks," Clark said not paying Lex's look any heed. Instead Clark turned his back and started to move forward.
"One more thing, Kent," Lex said taking the floor again, proof that Lex was truly in charge of the situation and everything surrounding it. "You ever cross my path again, you'll regret it."
At that comment, the thunder of the door slamming instantly rocked the corridors within the mansion and the cavernous office leaving Lex standing by himself.
"Thought that whiner would never leave," a male voice said entering from one of the top level.
"Your target can be a bit annoying I must admit," Lex said watching as Mxyztplk entered into the confines of the office fully.
"Whiner maybe an understatement, Mr. Luthor," Mxy returned finding his way to a chair and taking it as quickly as he could. "What shall I do?"
Lex smiled devilishly. "In due course, Mxy. In due course."
"Chloe, are you out of your mind?" Lois Lane asked, her cousin, Chloe Sullivan as Lois shifted through Chloe's closet looking for anything that struck her eyes. "You know I've never been a fan of stripclubs. Besides there's no way in hell we're getting in there unless we're high stakes kind of people."
"I'm aware of that," Chloe said, watching as Lois continued to dig through her closet. "But you of all people should know I don't give up without a fight and somebody's life might be at stake."
"Don't you mean IS," Lois returned, pulling out a purple satin dress. "Hence me digging through your closet for anything that will make us slutty looking."
"Who said anything about US," Chloe replied half laughing. "If anybody was ever going to strip it would be you. Not me. I'm just too..."
"Too what?" Lois said turning her back to Chloe as she pulled off her shirt. With a quick almost stripper-like move, Lois tossed it Chloe, who caught it and put it down on the bed.
"I'm not that sexy. You on the other hand," Chloe said watching as her cousin's blue jeans fell to the floor revealing a red thong that rode up her two well defined ass cheeks.
"Dress..." Lois said as Chloe tossed it her way and quickly slid it on, defining itself against her curves. "Chlo, don't start telling me you have dirty thoughts about me."
"No, but I know you've got plenty of guys oogling your goodies," Chloe said, straightening up her own dress.
"Good to know," Lois said sarcastically. "Maybe that'll come in handy tonight. Please tell me you do have a plan."
"I do," Chloe returned. "Mostly."
