Four figures lurked outside of the building in the middle of the desert. Two men dressed as body guards, one woman wearing pants and many guns, and one silent figure that tried not to squirm under the heavy black cloak that covered him stood ‘discussing what the best strategy is to get into the large building ahead of them and the best way to get out.
“Jayne you’re not listening to me. We can’t just shoot our way in there, we have to plan this properly its not just a drop off it’s a pick up,” Mal sounded less than pleased at this point. “ Alright Zoe get to the side entrance and see if its clear. Jayne come with me and Simon, we’re going in through the front.”
“Why’s Simon ‘ere anyway? He’s not even armed.” I don’t want Simon here he’s to soft to be here, he should be in the ship huddled in the infirmary like normal.
“He’s here because he is the only one on the ship that can get into that party and do what needs to be done.” A poke to my chest accompanied each word that was spoken. I looked to Zoe for what she was thinking but she was to busy keeping watch over the surroundings to notice that I needed some assistance. I looked to the last person in our group to see what he thought of the situation.
As he looked at Simon he couldn’t tell what he was thinking, that get up Mal had him wear covered him; a long black robe that covered and hid his face and body from view. “ Why’s he wearin’ that anyhow shouldn’t he be all fancied up in those prissy cloths he has? Nobody’s gonna believe that he’s rich if he’s covered in a gothic cloak Cap’n.”
“It don’t matter now Jayne we have to go in. Me and you are going to be the body guards or escorts to Simon, Simon you know what to do and how to behave, Zoe cover our exit.” Zoe took off to the left to circle around the building and find the other entrance.
“Jayne start walking, you go in front of Simon.”
I started to walk when I noticed that Mal and Simon were trailing behind me. It wasn’t eavesdropping I just needed to know the whole situation, always be prepared.
“Simon no matter what happens you have to play the part, head always down unless he wants you to look at him, and don’t talk you’ll find out why when you get inside.” It seemed like they were done but Mal seemed hesitant to add the rest “thanks for doin’ this.”
“Did I have a choice?” Simon was subdued in his tone of voice something I had never heard the stuck up doctor sound like before.
“ No, I guess you don’t” Mal actually sounded sorry. “It’s just that you’re the only one…”
“I know. Lets just get this over with so that we can get out of here.” Simon started to speed up a bit so I started to go a bit faster but then I heard a whisper “you better keep your promise this time Captain, there’s more at stake here than a mission.”
“I know. I promise.” I heard Mal whisper. Now what was that all about.
