Crisis
Chapter 7- Small addition to the episode “Crisis”: Adam has tried to shoot Lana. Clark rescues her. After everything is done and Lana is safe, where do they go to celebrate their good fortune? Why, the Talon, of course.
Chloe stepped out of the bathroom and walked down the hallway, back to the main room of the Talon.
“How’s the head?” Lex voice floated out of the shadows and Chloe jumped and shivered at the same time. She turned and let her eyes drift up his body, nice slacks over muscular legs, a button down left open enough to catch a glimpse of his chest, and... stop. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Do not check Lex Luthor out. It’s weird.
“What?” She finally said.
“Your head. I heard you got a nasty bump from Adam.”
“Ah. I’m fine.” She turned her back on him and watched her friends, laughing and sipping coffee across the room. She felt the heat of Lex’s body as he walked up behind her.
“Lana seems fine.” Lex’s breath was warm on her neck and she resisted the urge to lean back into that heat. The ache between her legs was sharp and she blushed so hard in embarrassment that she felt faint.
“Yes. She usually is.” Chloe twisted her lips as she spoke.
“What’s the problem, Chloe? Aren’t you happy that Adam is out of the picture and Lana is safe?” Lex sounded like he was smirking. Of course, he sounded like that a lot.
“Of course. I love Lana. Everybody loves Lana.” Her eyes sought of Clark without thinking and the pang in her chest was habit by now.
“I see.” Lex replied. A moment of quiet stretched out between them.
“You shut me out.” She said softly, into the silence.
“Chloe...” Lex’s voice trailed off.
“You said you wouldn’t and you did. There’s a lot more going on with this serum, Teng business than you’re letting on.”
The line of heat at her back moved away and Chloe swallowed a lump of nerves. She thought he had left when he spoke again.
“Clark is like any man. He wants what he can’t have.”
“It’s not just men who want what they can’t have.” She turned, already bristling, to face him.
“I know, Chloe. I know.” Lex’s grin was huge and Chloe realized he’d been teasing her. Before she could stop it, a matching grin spread across her face. Lex nodded his goodbye, still smiling.
Chloe shook her head and returned to her friends.
