Obsession
Chapter 6- Small addition to the episode “Obsession”: Clark and Alisha have just escaped from death in an elevator. What was going on with Chloe?
Chloe stood on the upper floors of Luthorcorp. Her classmates milled around her in confusion and she tried to move inconspicuously through them so she could overhear hear teacher, Mrs. Alice, and the LuthorCorp security guys. Everyone had heard the grinding of the elevator and the subsequent explosion. She felt sick to her stomach. Clark has been in that elevator.
She ducked behind a cubicle and peeked her head out. Their backs were turned so she hustled across the floor to the hallway. Here she would be concealed though she could only overhear snatches of conversation
“Not sure what happened...”
“... what... my students!”
“…everyone is accounted…please… the names…”
“... Kent... Alisha.”
Chloe frowned. The security guys didn’t sound too worried. Hopefully that was a good sign. She stepped back as the group broke up and her teacher returned to reassure her students. She froze when as she bumped into a warm body.
“Miss Sullivan, snooping again? Tell me, why does disaster seem to follow you around.”
Chloe stiffened in fear and panic as Lionel Luthor’s voice eeled its way across her skin. Do not turn around. Do not look at him. Just walk away. Her body refused to move. Walk, damn you! She took a jerky step forward.
“How is your father’s job search going?”
Chloe stopped, her vision blackening around the edges, as she tried to get a grip on her rage.
“Surely someone of your... influence...” She spat the word, “would know more than I would.”
“We could always revisit the offer I made.” His hand slid around her waist as he spoke.
“I don’t get it. Why would you... I’m younger than your son!” She tried to jerk herself free as she spoke.
“I can smell how much you hate me Miss Sullivan.” He growled in her ear and pulled her closer, flush against his body.
“Get your hands off me.” The words were flat but her body trembled minutely in rage.
“Or what?!” His other hand slid into her hair and yanked her head back.
Chloe brought her elbow back sharply several times, eliciting a surprised oof. She broke free of his grip and ran out of the hallway. She could see her classmates and teacher about thirty feet away. She turned and met Lionel Luthor’s eyes. He smiled and ran his tongue suggestively over his lips. Chloe shuddered in horror and all but ran back to the temporary safety of numbers. I am in so much trouble.
