Part XLIX
Naples, Florida 3 AM
Sam and John kept exchanging nervous glances with each other through the rearview mirror because both of them were apprehensive about the next three hours. Sam sat in the backseat with the crossbow laying in wait just incase Dean lost control in the car, and John drove keeping a close eye on his oldest son who sat in the passenger seat staring out into the night sky as the Impala raced up Highway 41 towards Fort Myers Beach. It was silently agreed upon that they needed to get away from Naples as quickly as possible incase Alexei changed his mind and hunted them down. Of course, it was a foregone conclusion that Alexei would be able to track them down no matter how far they drove if he truly wanted to find them.
“Are we stopping at a motel or driving non-stop?” Dean wearily asked not able to shake off the feeling of desolation that Christian’s destruction was causing or the throbbing pain in his crushed wrist.
“What do you think is best?” John asked his oldest honestly curious what the vampire in the making thought.
Dean’s keen eyesight spotted a cop car hidden in the darkness parked along the road, “Cop ahead.”
John instinctively slowed down even though he was not able to see the car, “Where is it?”
“About three-hundred yards ahead on the left hand side of the road,” Dean responded cradling his wrist up against his chest. “If I do convert back this wrist is trashed.” He looked in the rearview mirror at Sam. “Please tell me that you won’t use that thing in my car,” Dean remarked indicating the crossbow that sat in his brother’s lap. “You put a hole in my baby’s seat, and I will haunt your ass for all of eternity.”
Sam couldn’t help but to grin at Dean’s typical blasé attitude about the very serious situation. “Well, if you go all vamp on us, you will need to step outside of the car if you want to spare the leather.”
“I’ll try to keep that in mind,” Dean replied turning his attention back to the road when he saw his father passing the cop car, “and there he is just like I said.”
John could only appreciate Dean’s sharpened eyesight and he knew that Dean’s hearing and smell were also enhanced, “That’s pretty impressive. I bet you’ll hate losing those super peepers.”
Dean turned his head slowly towards John, “Who says I want to lose them?”
Sam swallowed down the fear that was currently causing his stomach to do flips, “Dean…I thought this was what you wanted, to turn back into a human.”
John looked nervously over at his oldest wondering what was going on in his son’s mind, “Dean you have to fight this for only three more hours then all will be back to normal.”
“Normal,” Dean snapped. “How the hell will anything ever be normal again?”
“He meant that you will be one of us again,” Sam explained.
Dean ran his hand over the leather of the passenger door amazed at how easily he could smell his father’s skin and hear the heartbeat that came from his vulnerable chest, “Both of you are being so dramatic. I just meant that I don’t want to give up the keen senses, but it doesn’t mean that I want to be a vamp either.”
Sam let the breath out he didn’t know he had been holding, “That’s understandable, but I’m sure that you will still have your oh-so charming super-sized ego when all is said and done.”
“Wouldn’t want to lose that now would we,” John joked.
They sat in silence for a few moments; all three men thinking about what the remainder of the night would hold. John worried for all of their safety, Sam worried for his brother’s sanity, and Dean worried about the call of the blood that was becoming increasingly difficult to resist since he was confined in such a small place with two hot-blooded humans.

Fort Myers Beach, Florida 5:00 AM
With just a little over an hour before the sunrise, John pulled into the parking lot of the Aloha motel, “I guess we’ll stop here to just to be safe.”
“Safe from what,” Dean asked staring at the decrypted motel that had obviously seen better days circa 1950.
“I don’t want you exposed to sunlight incase this thing takes another day to wear off,” John explained once again looking at Sam’s reflection in the rearview mirror. “Besides, I know you don’t want your baby filled with vampire ash if you were to…well you know.”
Dean looked at his father in disbelief, “You really think I give a shit about vampire ash in my car if it means that you two would be safe from me?”
“Dean,” Sam began. “Neither one of us want to see you destroyed if it’s not necessary.”
“Necessary?” Dean barked turning his body so that he could look at Sam in the backseat. “If I don’t convert back to a human when the sun rises, you have to kill me, don’t you see that? I can’t live like this…denying my true nature. I’m not fucking Louis from Interview with a Vampire! I can’t keep ignoring the call of the blood, do you get that?”
“We get that Son,” John replied, “but we also want to make sure that we have given you enough time to convert back before destroying you. What if Alexei lied and it takes longer than a few hours?”
“If you knew what I was thinking at this moment you wouldn’t hesitate to kill me,” Dean hinted turning away from Sam and facing back towards the seedy motel. “I can smell it in you…I can hear it rushing through your veins, and I want it so very badly.”
Sam’s hand involuntarily tightened on the crossbow, “Dad, go and get us a room. I’ll watch after Dean.”
John looked over his shoulder at his youngest like he had suddenly grown two heads, “We all go together, and I’ll hear no arguments from you.”
Sam stared at the back of Dean’s neck imagining how many times Christian had bitten into the succulent flesh and felt himself shamefully, hardening, “As a matter of fact, get us two rooms.”
“What!” John exclaimed. “Are you out of your fucking mind?”
“Trust me on this Dad,” Sam pleaded. “Dean and I can sort this out but only if we’re alone.”
Visions of Sam thrusting into Dean’s body flashed before John’s eyes and he felt his blood boiling in rage, “If you think that I’m going to leave you two alone for even a minute you got another thing coming. I know what you want to do to him Sam, and I’m not going to tolerate it. You hear me boy?”
“It’s okay Dad,” Dean reassuringly responded. “Sam’s right, we can sort this out together, but he will be chaining me to the bed if it’ll make you feel better.”
John wasn’t sure if his son being chained to the bed gave him any reassurance. Yes, it would protect Sam from Dean’s vampire urges, but what would protect Dean from Sam’s sexual urges? “I don’t understand why I can’t be in the room with you. It would make me feel better about the whole situation.”
“Because that’s how I want it to be!” Dean yelled feeling his fangs descending once again. “Now, get me the fuck out this car and get me chained up before I lose it!” Dean turned towards his father and opened his mouth so that John could see his fangs, “It gets harder to fight at the end of the night because I haven’t refueled my body since it’s rebirth…please just do as Sam asked before it’s too late.”
John could feel the hair on his arms standing up in fear as he looked at the sharp fangs that protruded from his son’s mouth, “Okay Dean…you win.” John opened the door to the Impala ignoring the creaking of the hinges, “I’ll be right back.”
Sam never took his eyes off of Dean waiting apprehensively for his father’s return, “You can do this Dean…just hold on for another hour or so.”
Dean slumped down in the leather seat and cradled his head in his hands in despair, “Don’t take this the wrong way Sam, but you don’t know what the fuck you’re asking from me. I can practically taste you in my mouth…and it’s taking everything in me not to jump over that seat and suck you dry.”
Sam wasn’t intimidated from Dean’s words; if anything, he felt aroused from them, “I’d like for you to suck me dry.”
Dean put his hands on this thighs and rubbed at them nervously, “I can’t believe you even have the audacity to talk about sex at a time like this.”
“Why not, did you expect my desire for you to be ebbed because you’re a creature of the night?” Sam asked holding the crossbow tightly just incase Dean did jump over the seat. “As far as I’m concerned, once you’re human again…I’m going to take what it’s rightfully mine and do what Dad most fears.”
Dean couldn’t help but to laugh loudly at Sam’s arrogance, “Still trying to dominate me Sam? And here I was under the impression that you thought Christian made you the sadistic bastard you are…but it looks like it’s just you being the real Sam for a change.”
“I have every intention of chaining you to that bed and keeping you occupied for the next few hours,” Sam leered suggestively. “That’ll curtail those nasty vampire urges of yours.”
“And what makes you think I’d be willing to let that happen?” Dean smirked watching as his father approached the car dangling two keys from his hand. “Maybe I should tell Dad that it’s best that he baby sits me rather than you...I wouldn’t want you having too much fun at my expense.”
“We both know that you won’t do that Dean,” Sam smiled knowingly.
Dean ignored Sam’s taunt as John opened the door and looked in on his two sons, “I have a feeling that I’m going to regret this but you two are in room 312 and I’m in 311, so…keep it in mind that I can hear the two of you if something happens that shouldn’t be happening.”
Dean found it rather amusing that his father was directing his stare at his youngest son rather than himself; a clear indication that John didn’t trust Sam’s intentions either, “You hear that Sammy? Daddy’s going to be listening.”
John felt his gut clench in dread, “I don’t want to hear any of this shit right now, but when this is all over with we’re going to all three sit down and talk about what the hell has happened to this family.”
“Understood,” Sam acknowledged pointing the crossbow at Dean. “Get out slowly.” Dean opened the door quicker than Sam wanted, but he did step out of the car and stood in one place as Sam pulled himself out of the backseat, “Dad, get the chain out of the trunk and meet us at the door.” He indicated for Dean to walk towards room 312 keeping a hunter’s eye on his brother trying to control his own giddiness over finally getting his brother alone in a bed without outside influences or peeping eyes.
John slammed the trunk dragging the black thick chain towards his boys. He had hoped that the death of Christian would end Dean’s ordeal, but now he feared that would have to protect his son from Sam, “I’ll help you get him chained up.”
“Bet you never thought you’d have to say that about me, did you?” Dean replied stepping aside as his father unlocked the door. He could hear that the oldest Winchester’s pulse had quickened, “Afraid Dad?”
“No,” John lied. “I’m just anxious to get this over with.” He opened the cheap wooden motel door trying to ignore the fact that his oldest was staring at his neck like it was a filet mignon. He ran his hand over the inside wall until he found the light switch and stepped over the threshold, “Stop trying to fuck with my mind and get your ass in here.”
Dutifully, Dean did as he was instructed, walking past his father until he got to the side of the bed, “You know if I wanted to I could stop you from doing this, right?”
“Of course,” Sam answered closing the door, “but there’s too much of you left in there to fight us. You don’t want to kill us anymore than we want to kill you.”
Dean appreciated Sam’s bluntness and sat down on the bed, “Let’s get his done then.”
Sam held the crossbow and pointed it at Dean as his father dragged the heavy chain towards the bed, “No real headboard, so you’ll have to go underneath the bed and wrap it around his chest.”
“And around his legs,” John mumbled wishing for his son’s legs to be held together so that Sam couldn’t take advantage of him.
“What was that Dad?” Dean asked grinning. “You want my legs chained together, whatever for?”
Sam frowned, “He doesn’t need his legs chained down.”
John couldn’t figure out the game Dean was playing; maybe it was the vampire in him, but he didn’t like the mind games he was playing with him or with Sam. “Sam, he could kick you hard enough to kill you, then he…”
“As long as he can’t bite me, he won’t have a reason to kill me, “Sam frustratingly replied through clenched teeth. “Please Dad…just get him chained down before it’s too late.”
Dean laid completely still as his father began wrapping the chain around the bed; slipping it underneath the bed, threading it though the dust bunnies, and wrapping it around his torso trapping his arms as well, “Watch the wrist.” Dean winced as his shattered bones were held down to the bed with the heavy chain, but he pushed the pain out of his mind and instead smiled suggestively up at his brother, “Is this what you want Sammy? Me all chained down unable to defend myself?”
Sam couldn’t help but to grin at Dean’s apparent flirtation, “It’s a good start.”
“God, kill me now,” John sighed in frustration at his sons’ appalling behavior. He quickly finished chaining Dean down to the bed feeling like he was leaving the lamb out in the open unprotected from the impending slaughter, “You two are freaking me the fuck out.”
“Then leave,” Dean suggested looking up at his father’s haggard face. “You look exhausted anyway. Go get some rest…Sammy here will take good care of me.”
John looked in his son’s eyes seeing the playfulness but it was mixed with coldness and despair, “Dean, are you sure about this?”
“Yes,” Dean replied quickly. “Sammy and I have some unfinished business to take care of, don’t we Sam?”
“That’s right,” Sam answered opening the motel door for his father. “We’ll see you in a few hours Dad.”
John reluctantly walked over towards the door and took one final look at Dean who was securely chained to the bed, “I just hope you don’t regret this once you’re human again.”
Dean watched in secret trepidation as John walked out the door but smiled widely at Sam, “I didn’t think he was ever going to leave.”
Sam grinned placing the crossbow on the dresser, “He means well, but he just doesn’t understand that we have this connection now; we’re drawn to each other.”
Dean moved his arms testing the strength of the chain which had been wrapped around his torso and arms three times, “You were all I could think about for the last two weeks. Every time he touched me I tried to imagine that it was you instead.”
Sam watched as the vampire, as strange as that sounded in his mind, was squirming underneath the chain, “What you doing Dean, you’re not trying to escape are you?”
“Why would I let Dad chain me up like this if I wanted to escape?” Dean asked lifting his hips off the bed slightly trying to get into a more relaxed position. “It’s tight…I was just trying to get more comfortable.”
Sam was mesmerized my Dean’s hips that were lifting off the bed, “You want something?”
Dean licked his lips slowly, “You see something you want?”
Sam liked Dean’s eagerness, “Maybe I should keep you chained to the bed permanently. It makes you hot doesn’t it?”
Dean watched as Sam walked over and stood in front of the bed, “Six months ago I would have laughed at you, but now…it’s been ingrained in me to submit.” Dean spread his thighs apart widely, “You want me to submit to you?”
Sam felt all his blood rushing down to his dick which leaped excitingly in the confines of his jeans, “Only if you want to.”
“I thought you were going to take what was rightfully yours?” Dean asked somewhat confused by Sam’s behavior. “Now you tell me that I have a choice?”
“Don’t get me wrong,” Sam began as he rubbed his large hands up Dean’s jean-clad calves. “I want to claim you and dominate you, but I won’t take what you’re not willing to offer.” His wandering hands went to Dean’s jeans and began unfastening them, “I won’t be like him Dean…I won’t force you.”
Dean looked down and watched as his brother unzipped his jeans, “So, if I said fuck off and die, you’d stop right now?”
Sam took his hands away from Dean’s hips, “Yes.”
Dean had not been expecting Sam’s less demanding nature and it upset his plans, “What the hell happened to change your mind? Just two weeks ago you fucked me in the back of the Impala and made me feel like a whore in the process.”
“Yeah, I did, but you seem to forget that I got all emotional on you and you pushed me away,” Sam reminded his brother. Sam returned his hands to Dean’s jeans and began pulling them off his brother’s body, “You tell me no and I stop…no arguments and no questions asked. I’ve realized that I can’t rush you and make you feel like shit in the process.” Sam explained. “You’re the one with the control here Dean; not me, and that’s how it’s going to be from here on out.”
Dean nodded slowly in understanding feeling the vampire inside him backing down for the moment, “You can have me Sam. I’m through fighting with myself.”
Sam pulled Dean’s boots off and slipped his brother’s jeans and boxers off, “This is what you really want? Us together like this?”
“No, I would rather be able to touch you; not be chained to the bed like the monster that I am, but I know that you have to keep me like this,” Dean replied feeling his brother’s hands caressing his bare thighs.”
“We could wait until you turn back,” Sam volunteered. “I want you to be able to touch me too.”
“No,” Dean quickly replied. “I need for you to keep my mind occupied with something else besides the cravings I’m having for blood.”
Sam looked over at the clock on the nightstand which read 5:32 AM, “We only have forty minutes until sunrise.”
“And that’s forty minutes that I could spend figuring out how to get out of these chains so that I could kill you,” Dean honestly explained. “Just…please Sammy, take my mind off my urges.”
“And satisfy my own urges in the process,” Sam grinned kneeling in between Dean’s bare legs. “That doesn’t seem really fair to me.”
“It’s more than fair,” Dean smirked as Sam’s hot breath caressed his engorged erection. “I’m ready for this…I’m not afraid of my desires anymore.”
Sam licked slowly up Dean’s smooth pale hip noting that Dean didn’t have a distinct smell anymore. Gone was the manly musk and instead there was only the smell of the metal of the chain that was only inches above Dean’s hip. Sam pulled back and looked directly into Dean’s eyes and saw that they were a brighter green than the moss color he was used to seeing, and his brother’s face was smooth with no visible pores; it disturbed him on many levels, and he pulled back and sat on his knees overlooking Dean.
Dean was perplexed by Sam’s behavior, “What is it Sam, what’s wrong?”
Sam shook his head slowly trying to come to his senses, “I can’t do this…it’s not right.”
Dean yanked his arms up against the chain grunting in pain when his wrist was pressed up against the hard unyielding metal, “Don’t you want me anymore? Do I disgust you that much?”
Sam got off the bed, walked over towards the clothes rack in the corner, pulled down the extra blanket, and covered Dean’s nakedness, “Of course I still want you, but Dean…you’re not human. Doesn’t that freak you out?”
Dean clenched his eyes tight in frustration and opened them again staring angrily at his younger brother, “You’ve wanted me for years, and now when I’m finally ready for you, you get a conscience and decide it’s the wrong thing to do?”
Sam took off his jacket and threw it in the chair by the door, “Dean, I don’t want to fuck a vampire. You’re cold, you have no smell or taste, and you’re…well, you’re…technically dead or the undead, or something like that.”
“And you’re not into necrophilia, right?” Dean sneered. “This fucking sucks Sam! I can’t help what I am…I told you I was a monster, but you won’t kill me.”
“Dean, I promise that once you convert back to a human I will make love you to you,” Sam reassured his brother.
“Make love?” Dean grinned. “You’re such a pathetic romantic Sammy.”
“Fine, I’ll fuck you so hard that we’ll have to get a wheelchair to go along with that cast for your wrist,” Sam joked. “And you’ll walk with a permanent limp.”
Dean chuckled, “Down boy…let’s not cause permanent damage to this luscious body.”
Sam grabbed the crossbow off the dresser and sat in the chair, “I’ll wait here and keep an eye on you, but after the sun rises, we’re celebrating your return.”
Dean watched wearily as Sam pointed the weapon at him that played a role in Christian’s death and felt a sudden need to express his gratitude, “You did a good job tonight; you and Dad both.”
“I can’t believe it’s almost over,” Sam frowned. “It’s been the worst fucking six months of my life Dean, maybe even worse than Jess’s death.”
Dean stared at Sam swallowing down his own pain and desolation for the time being, “Sam, we’ll get through this…all of us will recover from this, okay?”
Sam stared at Dean incredulously, “Why do you always do that? Always comforting me while ignoring your own torment?”
“I’m not ignoring it…I’m just not really feeling it yet,” Dean admitted. “It hasn’t really hit me yet that Christian is gone forever, and that a part of me hopes that I don’t convert back to a human.”
“Why!” Sam snapped. “Do you want me to have to destroy you?”
Dean turned his head and looked at the bathroom area avoiding Sam’s scathing look, “I…I don’t know…”
“Damn it Dean!” Sam exclaimed jumping up from the chair. “You’re stronger than this!”
Dean shook his head in disagreement, “No I’m not. I’m too tired to fight Sam….I’m emotional and physically exhausted.”
“Dean, this will be over with in less than thirty minutes, and then we’ll work this out together,” Sam promised. “I won’t let you go through this alone.”
Dean looked back at his brother feeling the tears slipping down his cheeks, “Sam, I don’t think I can be who you want me to be. I don’t know how to be that man anymore.”
Despite the danger, Sam sat down on the side of the bed staying clear of Dean’s mouth and face, “Look, the Dean I know and love is still in there. Your sarcasm and humor are definitely still there, and all we have to do is find the rest of you.”
“And I’m afraid we won’t find the rest of me,” Dean disclosed. “That person died with Christian. The defiance…the strength and will to fight are gone forever.”
“No it’s not Dean. You’ve been through a living hell for the last six months, and it’s going to take at least that long for you to recover,” Sam reassured his brother. “You have to believe that life is worth living for…promise me that you won’t deprive me of the chance of showing you what you mean to me; please don’t abandon me with only Dad and his quest for revenge.”
Dean smiled softly at Sam’s refusal to let him go, “I’ll try Sam. I’ll try to be stronger for you; to be the big brother you’re use to.”
Sam smiled lovingly at his brother looking down into the brilliant green eyes, “That’s more like it. Dad will be happy to hear that. He’s worried sick about you.”
“I’m sure he is,” Dean agreed squirming under the chain unable to ignore the heat that Sam’s body was emanating, “He’s worried about the both of us.”
“I can imagine he’s disturbed by our need for each other, but he’ll either accept us or he won’t,” Sam remarked continuing to stare into Dean’s alluring eyes. “I don’t want to lose him over this, but he hasn’t really been in my life for over fours years, so I won’t really miss him that much; you on the other hand, would miss him.”
Dean continued wiggling underneath the chain pushing down on the mattress trying to slip his uninjured arm out of the chain’s grasp, “You’re right, I will miss him, but I’ll miss you even more.”
Sam couldn’t stop looking at Dean’s eyes but something in his mind registered that what Dean had said was off in someway, “Miss me more? What do you mean by that?”
“Sam, you know that I love you more than anything or anyone in this world, right?” Dean asked staring intently into Sam’s eyes. “Please understand that I couldn’t resist anymore…I couldn’t stop myself.”
With no warning, Sam felt Dean’s cool hand grabbing him from the back of his neck and pulling him towards his brother’s mouth; the spell was broken and Sam began fighting against the vampire’s strong grip, “Dean, don’t do this…please.”
“You really shouldn’t have sat on the bed Sam,” Dean commented as he continued pulling his baby brother’s neck down towards his hungry mouth. “I’m sorry Sammy, but I have to do this.”
Sam’s grip on the crossbow faltered and it fell on the carpet next to the bed, “Dean, I love you so fucking much…you have to fight this.”
Sam’s neck was within striking distance, “I told you I have no strength to fight anymore.” Dean licked at his fangs wondering if he would be able to kill Sam as masterful as Christian had killed his victims, or if he would he have to tear at the flesh like a bear cub feeding for the first time. “This must be done.”
Sam could feel Dean’s body trembling trying to fight the vampire inside, “Dean, if you do this then you really will be the monster you fear.”
Dean stared at the succulent flesh on Sam’s neck watching as the thin layer of skin pulsated from the force of the blood pumping underneath the surface. He was desperately trying to will the urge to feed down, “I can’t stop myself.”
Sam’s neck ached from the strong grip, and he knew that it was only a matter of seconds before his own brother killed him, “Dean, you do this then what? You’ll go and kill Dad too? Maybe walk out into the sun because of the guilt of killing your own family?” Sam could feel the grip on his neck tighten, “Or better yet…will you enjoy taking our lives, and become like Christian stalking and preying upon humans enjoying the pain you inflict upon them?”
Dean closed his eyes trying not to look at the flushed flesh on his brother’s neck, “You know I don’t want that Sam, and I don’t want to do this.”
“Just let go for like two seconds, and I’ll be out of harm’s way,” Sam reasoned. “Please Dean…just let go. You know it’s what you really want to do.”
Dean battled with the vampire inside himself still holding onto Sam’s neck, but he kept his eyes closed and pictured baby Sammy in his arms after their mother’s death, Sam’s graduation from high school, and the look on Sam’s face when Jess died.
“Let go Dean,” Sam whispered sensing the struggle going on within Dean’s mind. He felt the grip on his neck slowly loosening, but he didn’t try to pull away just yet. “Give us a chance Dean…let me give you the love you desperately crave.” With that, Dean’s hand opened up and Sam scampered away from the bed dragging the crossbow along the way.
“I’m sorry Sammy,” Dean shamefully apologized.
Sam rubbed at the back of his neck which was sore from the scrimmage, “I forgive you Dean. The man you fear that’s dead is still alive and well inside you. He won that battle.”
Dean looked over at the clock on the nightstand which read 5:49 AM, “Hold that crossbow on me, and you better kill me if I even so much as scratch my nose.”
“I will,” Sam reluctantly agreed. He now had an appreciation for the battle going on inside Dean’s body, and he knew that he couldn’t make anymore stupid mistakes; not if he wanted to save himself and their father from Dean’s vampire nature, and he knew that Dean’s sanity would be lost forever if he killed his own flesh and blood. “Only twenty-three minutes to go Dean…just hold on for just a little longer.”

Darkestangel
