Chapter 4
Dean and Sam arrived at Bobby's two days later. Bobby came out of his house with his 'kiss the cook' apron on, causing both men to double over in laughter. He just glared at them and walked back into the house. Sam and Dean grabbed their meager belongings and followed him into the house. They set their stuff in the spare bedroom and walked into the kitchen and sat at the table. They watched as Bobby worked his away around the kitchen, waiting for him to speak. It took him a few minutes to finish cooking before he sat down, placing the food in the middle of the table. The men took that as their que to grab plates and dig in.
"So what brings you boys out here?" Bobby asked, his food growing cold in front of him.
Dean stopped eating, placing his fork on his plate, before he started explaining. "We need a place to stay for a litte while. A safe place to stay. Is it okay for us to stay here?" Bobby had never heard trepidation in the man's voice. Sam had also stopped eating, earning a glare from Dean, awaiting Bobby's answer.
"Of course you can stay here, but why?" He was truly curious. The men asking to stay for longer than a few days meant it must be something serious.
Sam spoke for the first time since they arrived. "I'm pregnant." Bobby stared at him like he was insane. Sam stood up, pulling his sweatshirt up over his belly, There it was, big and round with life. A gigantic smile broke over Bobby's face.
"Boy, why didn't you tell me sooner?" Bobby demanded. Sam gave a sheepish smile before pulling his sweatshirt back down and sitting. "Congratulations you two. You deserve it. When is the little one due?" He was so excited. He was gong to be a grandfather.
"Five weeks. We didn't want to take any risks, so as soon as Sam told me, I packed him up and came here." Dean explained, gripping Sam's hand. They both knew what he was thinking about. Sam unconciously rubbed his lower belly with his free hand.
"Well, looks like you'll be here for more than a little while. I'll bump up protection around the yard. We'll have to get supplies for the birth and the baby. I'll go into town tomorrow and pick it all up. You two a not to leave the yard. It's a big place, so you shouldn't go to stir crazy." Bobby held no room for arguements. Sam and Dean were beaming. Both were fine with the terms. They wanted to make sure their baby was beyond safe.
Dean saw Sam's posture droop a little, signaling his exhaustion. "Okay Sammy, time for bed," Dean whispered in his ear. Sam didn't argue. Bobby didn't comment and silently cleaned up the kitchen as Dean led Sam to THEIR bedroom. What a strange concept.
Dean laid in bed watching Sam sleep peacefully, one hand resting on his lower stomach. Dean placed his hand on Sam's stomach in reverence, missing the feel of having a life growing inside of him. He was a little jealous of Sam, but so happy they were getting their family. Fingers laced with his and he looked up to Sam's face to see that he was awake, sad look in his eyes.
"I'm so sorry Dean. This should be you, not me. Sometimes I feel that I'm taking something away from you. I was so afraid to tell you. I thought you would hate me. Leave me." Sam whispered, tears threatening to fall. Dean gave a small smile, understanding Sam's apprehension.
"I would never leave you Sammy. Never." He leaned over and placed a loving kiss on his lips. "You are not taking anything away from me. You never did." You placed another kiss on Sam's lips, delving his tongue into Sam's mouth. A pleasured moan was his answer.
Dean pulled back reluctantly, "You're exhausted. Sleep. We'll finish this later." Sam nodded and curled into Dean's side as much as his burgening belly would allow him and drifted into a peaceful slumber. Dean followed shortly behind him.
Two weeks later
Dean was working on the Impala when he heard a familar voice come from behind him.
"Hello Dean. Long time no see." Dean stood up and slowly turned around. Fear ran rampet through his system.
"Alastair. How?" He whispered.
"Dean, Dean, Dean. You think your silly little protections around here could keep me out?" He was far to smug for his own good. "I see there's no little creature with you. Did you like my gift? I thought the spider was mighty creative." Alastair broke into an evil laugh.
Dean's fear was replaced with pure fury. He charged the demon, catching him off gaurd, taking him to the ground. His fist connected with Alastair's nose , giving a satisfying crunch. Dean was flung off of Alastair by an invisible force, colliding with one of the junk cars. He collapsed to the ground as Alastair walked over to him, straightening his suit.
"Bad move Dean. Very bad move. I was going to let you live, but now I think I'll drag you back to Hell with me just for shits and giggles. What do you think, hm? I know a few 'people' that would love to see you again." The fear took hold of Dean ten fold. He couldn't go back. He wouldn't survive.
Alastair began to kneel down, but was stopped mid motion by something holding him in place. Dean looked around him to see Sam holding his hand out, keeping Alastair where he was. Dean scrambled from his spot on the ground, rushing to stand by Sam's side. He saw the strain it was having on Sam, using his powers. Sam's nose began to bleed, making it obvious he was running out of energy. "Get the Colt Dean." He ran to the Impala, grabbing the Colt, checking to make sure it was loaded, and scrambled back to Sam's side.
Dean cocked the Colt, pointing it at the back of Alatair's head. "Goodbye Alastair." It was Dean's turn to be smug as the Colt fired with a loud bang. Alastair collapsed in a heap of flesh and static, black smoke. He didn't deserve a face to face death.
Sam dropped his arm, eyes rolling back into his head. Dean caught him before he hit the ground.
Three days later
Dean only left Sam's side to bathe and use the restroom. Bobby brought him food without complaint.
Sam moaned lightly, rousing from his comatose like state. Dean was instantly sitting on the bed next to him, rubbing his head with a cool wash cloth. Sam's eyes fluttered open, the first thing he saw was Dean looking down at him with a tormented expression. Memories came flooding back to Sam, hands instantly on his stomach. He sighed in relief, feeling the large, protruding flesh still there. His stomach had started cramping while he was using his powers against Alastair. It had hurt so badly, the pain causing him to pass out.
"What happened Dean? I thought I was going to lose the baby." Sam whispered, tears of relief running down his face.
Dean gently stroked Sam's hair out of his face before he began talking. "You nearly did. Bobby gave you a shot that stopped your contractions. You've been out for three days. I've been keeping an eye you. Making sure you were okay. Everythings fine now." Dean curled up next to Sam, wrapping him in his arms, letting Sam cry himself to sleep.
