Chapter 1
For disclaimer see first page. Sorry the chapters are short for now but I will be updating regularly so I hope you enjoy it as it progresses
Rose found herself back in the tardis with the lights flickering around her and the siren indicating that they were dematerializing from her home, her world, and heading off to new planets and new experiences. She found herself relieved about moving on as she was still getting over the shock of aliens in downing street.
As she watched the Doctor flit around the control panel pushing various random buttons one thought was nagging at the back on her head.
“Doctor can I ask you something?” she said, watching the various lights throw shadows across the Doctor’s face.
“Hmmm?” was all the response she got as he appeared totally absorbed in what he was doing.
“How can everyone just dismiss the spaceship that crashed into Big Ben, the alien threat against the world as all just a big hoax?” Rose knew she had asked this before in London but she thought that it was worth trying again.
“Well you humans, bless you all, you don’t really like the thought that you’re not the superior race anymore, that there is more out there then your limited little minds can comprehend. So you hang on to your illusions as long as possible,” he replied not even looking up from the panel.
‘Great, he’s in one of his patronising moods,’ Rose thought and crossed her arms.
“Well cleaver clogs, you seemed very surprised when that spaceship landed. I thought you knew all about human history, and you don’t even know when we first made contact with aliens,” she challenged.
That caused the Doctor to look up from the panel in shock.
“Excuse me, my knowledge of earth history is perfect, of course I know when humans made first contact, and I can prove it,” he retorted, with a smug grin on his face.
“Oh yeah? How?” Rose countered, her voice dripping with disbelief.
“By showing you,” he simply replied. With that he started leaping about the tardis setting co-ordinates, his grin getting wider and his eyes shining with the light of adventure.
“So where are we going? Rose asked, barely containing her excitement.
“Just a few years into the future, destination the Cambridge observatory. I’m going to introduce you to the man that submitted irrefutable proof that you are not alone in the universe. Actually I would quite like to meet him too, can’t think why I haven’t done it before,” the Doctor replied.
“Maybe cause you’re not as cleaver as you think,” Rose quipped, as she felt the tardis reach its destination.
“Oi none of that or you will wait in the tardis and leave the grownups to talk business,” he warned, but couldn’t keep his lips quirking into a smile.
The Doctor bounded over to the tardis doors and with a grand gesture swung them open.
Rose blinked and shielded her eyes from the sudden dazzling sunlight.
The Doctor extended the crook of his arm to her in a gentlemanly fashion, but ruined the effect by wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.
Smiling back Rose took the offered arm and together they strolled into the sunlight.
