CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
While they headed off to an a exhausted sleep she was already
thinking of what the
next lesson
would entail.
Jane already grinning thinking of exactly what it should be
was the last thought
before giving in
to the dark restful night.
The next morning
John woke up first when he felt Jane shivering in his arms,
and trying to burrow up
against him as much as she possibly could.
He decided to slip out of bed as carefully as he could pulling
the covers up around her
before moving towards the window to close it.
Successfully getting to the window without disturbing her
any, John noticed how
nice the breeze felt on his skin, and the sun was shining so
bright.
Taking a quick glance back at Jane, he crawled out the
window pulling it closed most
of the way, before heading to the roof eager to admire the new
day.
Rolling over hoping to find her warm companion, Jane opened
her eyes in
disappointment to find him gone she called out
“John?”
Expecting him to answer, but not hearing any response, Jane
crawled out of bed a bit
to quickly, and wincing at he stiffness in her joints she said
“Owe, oh that’s write”
With a grin on her face remembering last’s nights activities,
and smiling before she
cringed remembering the neighbor’s worried knocking.
“Note to self avoid eye contact for at least a year.”
Deciding John must have gone someplace she headed for her
dresser looking for some
clean cloths to wear after a very hot shower to relax her
muscles, but jumping when
her window swung open suddenly.
“Huh, oh there you are.”
Said Jane in surprise.
“Good morning”
John said as he pulled her in for a tender kiss hello.
Pulling back at the sound of John’s stomach growling from
hunger, Jane suggested
with a chuckle
“Why don’t you go find some food in the kitchen, while I go
take a shower.”
Liking the sound of enjoying a nice long shower with Jane,
John pulled her back in
his arms saying
“I can help you.”
With a mischievous glint in his eyes
“Oh no!”
Said Jane while pushing his chest to make him back up a bit.
“I don’t think so . I actually plan on getting some stuff done
today other than,”
Stopping with a blush deciding to say it differently.
“I want to go out today.”
Asking a little disappointed
“Where?”
On her way to the bathroom with her fresh cloths, Jane stopped
to look over her
shoulder saying
“I thought we could go out to Sam’s cabin. I was thinking, the
way your climbing
thing’s all the time, if you were able to show me how that it
could really come in handy
when I’m working.
There have been so many times where it would have really come
in handy to be able to
shimmy up stuff, and surprise the perp’s.”
Liking the idea of getting to play around in the woods again
after so long caused a
huge grin to spread across John’s face
Pleased to see that he liked the idea she said
“I thought you might like that idea. Now you go find
something to eat, so I can take
a quick shower. Then we are off to the next lesson, sound
good?.”
Not hearing a response, Jane just smiled heading into the
bathroom more anxious
than ever to get the day started.
Having already started for the kitchen John was rapidly
planning out where he
wanted to start once they arrive.
Then deciding that the trees along the water would be the
easiest for her to begin on.
After deciding to spend the night at the cabin, they packed
some food, a camera, and
some cloths they were on there way.
Later on that day after they had unpacked all of their things,
they headed out to start
their next lesson camera in tow.
“So where are we heading anyway?”
Asked Jane not quite sure where he was leading her, but
thankful that he seamed to
know his way a lot better than she did.
“It’s a surprise”
Was all he would tell her while quickening his pace.
Watching him was so amazing.
Just seeing how much more at ease he seemed to get the farther
from the city they got
was one thing, but watching how well he could maneuver
around with such confidence,
and grace was just priceless.
Thinking to herself
“This is where he belongs. Out here away from all the things
threatening his life on a
daily basis. Heck I could even get used to the idea of being
alone someplace like this
with him for ever.”
Realizing she did not want to end up forgetting a second of
this moment, Jane
grabbed her camera taking several different photo’s of John
before he even seemed to
notice.
Looking back at Jane when he heard a few strange sounds, he
smiled seeing how
happy she seemed to be just focusing on him with that strange
thing she brought with
her.
“Come on your going to love it.“
Said an enthusiastic John
Deciding she had enough pictures for now, she quickly jogged
up to him.
Taking her hand he said
“Come on It’s not far from here”.
Crawling over a fallen tree they came up to a clearing that was
outlining a beautiful
section of water with several overhanging trees.
Recognizing that this was where she had found John swinging
from the last time
they had been at the cabin.
“I thought this area looked a little familiar.”
Said Jane playfully hitting him on the arm
“I thought you were taking me somewhere new.”
Catching her hand before it made contact a second time he
explained
“This is the best place to get you started on.”
“So where do we start?”
Asked Jane gesturing around at the different trees
surrounding the area.
Taking off, and climbing up a tree to her right in a flash he
said
“Here.”
With an expecting look, and a lopsided grin.
Thinking to herself
“Oh god don’t do that look.
God I would love to just, no get focused, where here to learn not
play.”
Smiling at her inner commentary, Jane walked up to the tree
surveying it for the best
place to start at.
Noticing her hesitancy at where to climb, John jumped down
saying
“Take your shoes’ off”
“Oh yah I forgot about that part.”
Jane said as she leaned on the tree to remove her hikers and
socks.
Not wanting to come a crossed to helpless at the whole thing
she quickly decided on a
spot with several branches that looked close enough together
and seemed strong enough
to hold her.
“Any last pointers?”
Asked Jane as she reached for the first branch, and started
climbing up.
Admiring her approach, John did not answer, he just watched
in anticipation of how
she would be able to go after the next couple of braches knowing
that they were not as
close together farther up the tree.
Surprised he had not answered her, Jane looked down to see
why he had ignored her,
only to find him gone.
“John?”
She called out, then feeling the tree move a little bit she looked
up at a curious grin.
Glad he had not startled her, John answered
“Just one. Make sure you have someplace to go after you get
started.”
“Huh?”
Asked Jane confused.
“Tips. Make sure you have somewhere to go once you get
started.”
Explained John gesturing to the very spaced out branches that
Jane had just came
to.
“Oh, Good point.”
Said Jane not sure where she should move to.
Grabbing on to the branch firmly that he was on just above
her, he swung down close
enough to be able to get a good grip on her so he could lift her
up to his branch where
she would be able to continue easier by herself.
Looking up seeing what he had in mind she said
“No, I can go back down, and try a different route.”
Remembering last time, and how she reacted, John said
“Jane you can trust me. I didn’t drop you last time did I?”
John teased.
Groaning in frustration she looked back up at him trying to
decide if it was worth
debating the issue, she realized that it was obviously not worth
it.
Reaching up to take his hand, Jane stated
“You do realize that I have to bee able to do this on my own
when I am working you
know.”
Looking her in the eyes, he asked
“Ready?”
Taking a quick look around her to make sure she knew where
to aim for, she answered
confidently
“Yes.”
John swung her up next to him with ease.
Jane thought to herself.
Still at it several hours later, they found themselves in a
section the sun was not able
to get to so easily,
Jane having decided to take the lead a little while ago, did not
notice the moss growing
on the branch she was attempting to descend to.
Confident she could stand easily, she let go of the branch she
had just climbed down
from, and before she knew what had had happened, she was
falling the rest of the way
to the ground.
“Ahhh!”
Screamed Jane in surprise, attempting to grab onto anything
she could, but finding
nothing.
“Jane!”
Cried out John terrified at seeing her slip from the tree
suddenly.
