Chapter 11: Therapy
Ellie came over the next morning to find Marco still in bed with tear tracks on his face. “Oh, Marco. What happened?”
“There’s nothing wrong. Why would you say something like that?” Marco asked as sat up in bed.
“The tear tracks on your face are a good clue that something happened,” Ellie replied in a kind voice.
“He’s with someone else now. I got to hear all about it. I don’t wanna be alone anymore Ellie. I thought I could handle being single. I helped them get together. I don’t know what to do. I thought it was a simple crush, but I’m not so sure anymore. I’m letting myself fall for him. I promised myself that I wouldn’t let somebody into my heart after what Dylan did,” Marco said in an anguished filled voice.
“I’m sorry Marco. You can’t let what Dylan did affect you. You’re better than him. There’s still hope. They just got together; that doesn’t mean that they’re going to stay together,” Ellie said as she stroked Marco’s hair.
“I can’t wish ill on them, Ellie. I’m happy that they’re happy together. I don’t know what to do,” Marco said helplessly.
“Let’s go shopping; that will take your mind off of everything for a little bit. You need a change of scenery,” Ellie told Marco as she then got up & searched his closet for something for him to wear.
“Okay, since you’re not giving me a choice. I’m up. No, I’m not wearing that. I don’t want to look good; I want to look as horrible as I feel,” Marco complained @ Ellie’s choice in clothes for him.
“You wanna look good, so he can see what he’s missing. You don’t want him to think that you mope around all day & night. Come on, get dressed. You’re wearing that OR you’re going naked. You’re choice,” Ellie smirked.
“Fine, be that way,” Marco said as he stomped by Ellie towards the bathroom, grabbing the clothes from her hands on the way by.
“I just knew you’d see it my way,” Ellie laughed.
After Marco left the bathroom, Ellie did his hair. Marco pouted with his arms crossed the entire time while Ellie did his hair. Ellie drove them to the mall. Marco didn’t stop pouting until they had entered his favorite store.
Marco was suddenly like a kid in a toy store. Marco went through each & every rack picking out clothes. Ellie grabbed a cart & followed Marco. She just watched & gave her opinion when asked. Ellie was pleased to see Marco so joyful. She was glad that Marco had that gleam back in his eyes.
Marco knew that this was what he needed. He was blissful to be surrounded by new clothes. Marco listened as Ellie told him about her first date that she’d had that weekend with Craig.
“Hey, Marco. Hi Ellie,” a voice greeted the two shopping partners.
Both Marco & Ellie quickly turned towards the voice, “Hey, Sean. Long time no see,” Marco said with a grin.
“I just got back in town. I got a new apartment & I’m visiting my parents every other weekend. I worked hard & I’m now a senior. I start @ Degrassi again next week on Monday,” Sean replied to the unasked question.
“We’re just doing some shopping. I was trying to cheer up Marco, & it seems to have worked,” Ellie told Sean as she grinned @ Marco’s expression. “I have to get home. Sean, can you give Marco a ride home?”
“Yeah, sure. Not a problem,” Sean replied.
“I’ll see you later Marco. Nice seeing you again, Sean,” with that Ellie was gone, leaving Marco with a cart full of clothes & Sean.
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d think that this was all planned,” Marco said to break the silence.
“Yeah, she disappeared awfully quickly. Leaving us alone,” Sean said with a saucy grin & a wink. “Let’s see what else we can find for you to wear. I also need some new clothes before starting school.”
“Okay,” with that Marco & Sean set off looking for clothes.
