Starfleet teaches service, sacrifice, love and compassion. But what is compassion, and do we ever truly know the magnitude of the effect of one kind act, tossed out into the universe, till a/the "god" takes notice. All "god" ever really does, is give choices. Those spoken and more significantly, those unspoken, and with them the possibility of a life and love, worth dying for. But perhaps it is their own desire, after being witness to so much death and destruction, for just one "happy ending", not perfect, no one can promise perfect, choices after all, but happy that tips the scales....

In the wake of the chaos following the Charon's destruction, a new Terran governor is dispatched to Ferenginar. Given her adherence to the dogma of human supremacy, she at first has nothing but hatred for her new subjects. However, she begins entertaining strange notions regarding the Ferengi's place in the power structure, notions that many of her female subordinates have already come to embrace.
