Bad Moon Rising

Elliot dropped the armful of files he was carrying on his desk.

    "And so the mountain grows." he mumbled to himself.

Captain Donald Cragen strolled into SVU headquarters, his coat already in his hands.

    "Elliot, my office please."

Elliot put his head back and closed his eyes. What had he done this time. Ever since Olivia went to do some work for the Internet Crimes Unit he had been flying solo. Seemed to be the way things would be going in her personal life as well. His now ex wife Cathy had insisted that he move out when she filed for divorce. He made his way into Cragen's office, preparing for the usual tongue lashing. He closed the door and crossed his arms. His usual defensive stance.

    "What's up captain?"

Cragen threw a file on to his desk and leaned back in his chair.

    "You have a new partner."

Elliot let out a little groan and rubbed his temples with his fingers.

    "She's a new detective in homicide. She's been impressing everyone so they moved her up here. Guess without Liv we are short a certain feminine touch."

Elliot cracked his neck and slumped into the chair in front of the captain's desk.

    "So she's a rookie detective and you wanna put her with me?"

The captain picked up her file and skimmed through it.

    "Yeah, Elliot, I do. She's smart, she's tough and she's got the background. Graduated top of her class at NYU with a masters in Criminal Psychology. Graduated top of her class in the academy. She's a little young but hey, we could always use some youth around here."

Elliot stood up and walked to the door.

    "Anything else?"

Cragen raised his eyebrow at Elliot. The tone in his voice made him bristle.

    "Yeah, her name is Julie Steel. She should be here within the hour. Be nice to her Elliot."
