Furious, Miranda stormed out of the Assistant Directors office slamming the door behind her. The halls echoed with her high heels clacking on the hard floors. When she reached the elevator she pressed the button repeatedly receiving stares from passersby. ‘How dare he?’ She thought. Walter Skinner was possibly the most cantankerous man she had to ever deal with. She could never say anything in his presence without him blowing up and she was tired of dealing with him.

Pushing past two men in the elevator she exited and headed back to her office.

“What’s with you?”

Executive Director Marshal stood looking at her in his office doorway.

“Walter Skinner that’s what. Phil I’m done dealing with that man. I’m serious this time.”

This response resulted in a chuckle from the E.D.

Miranda reported directly to Phil Marshal and had stepped in for him many times when he had conflicts or was too busy to attend his meetings, her meeting with Walter Skinner today was one of those times.

“What did old Walt do this time?”

He walked over to her sitting at the edge of her desk, watching as she angrily flipped through several papers on her desk then looking up giving him a glaring look.

“I’m glad you find this all amusing Phil. He had the nerve to tell me I was being obtuse. I’m obtuse? If anyone is obtuse it’s him. God, he knows exactly what it takes to set me off. I’m done Phil, I mean it this time.”

“Alright, alright I hear you. Miranda, I know how Walt can get sometimes but you take what he says way to personal.”

“Oh really? And how would you have taken being called obtuse?”

Laughing again, he shook his head in apology.

“I’m sorry. I don’t mean to laugh. That is just so typical Skinner. Ignore him. He knows he’s a jerk.”

“That’s the best answer you’ve got? Ignore him? I wish I could smack that smug face of his. I swear he gets off on it.”

“I’ll have a talk with him how about that?”

“Don’t waste your time because I am not dealing with him ever again. I’m done talking about this.”

---------

Skinner looked up at the sound of knocking at his office door. Glancing at his watch, it was already after 7:00 and he wondered who was at his door this late in the day.

“It’s open.” He growled.

Looking up he was surprised to see Executive Director Marshal walk in.

“Hey Walt, you have a minute?”

“Of course, come on in Phil. Please have a seat.”

Then remembering his less than pleasant encounter with Miranda earlier that day, he suddenly could guess why the E.D. was there to see him. Something about that woman always brought out the worst in him. It never failed that when the two of them were in the same room an argument would soon follow. He always seemed to take the offensive when he was around her, even when she was right.

“Walt I spoke to Miranda. What the heck is going on between you two? I briefed her on that information myself, so tell me what you found so disagreeable.”

Sitting back in his chair he stared at the man sitting before him and then shook his head.

“I’m sorry, I just… Miranda and I don’t seem to get along. I take full responsibility for my actions today, I called her a name and she just flew off the handle. I should have never done what I did. There’s no excuse for it.”

“It just seems like from the very beginning you two have butted heads. What is it about her that brings this out in you? Have you ever thought about it? I mean, I think you two have some sort of unresolved issues from a past life or something. Walt I need her to come to these meetings, and she is refusing to deal with you anymore.”

Skinner blew out a long breath.

“I’ll call her in for a talk tomorrow to apologize. I’ll fix this.”

“Good luck with that. I’ve already tried talking to her, she refuses to come back.”

Phil stood to leave.

“No, I’ll think of something. I’ll make this right Phil.”

Skinner stood and the two men shook hands. As Skinner watched the man leave he removed his glasses and tossed them onto his desk. Walking over to the window behind his desk he looked out at the city below. He would have to eat some serious crow to get on Miranda’s good side again, not that he ever was. He thought about the question Phil had posed to him. ‘What is it about her that brings this out in you?’ Skinner chewed on that a minute. Thinking back he recalled when she first started reporting to Phil Marshal. She was young, attractive, energetic and incredibly intelligent. Her intelligence came across as superiority in many ways although she never directly stated so. Could he really feel threatened by her intelligence he wondered? It wasn’t only that and it was time to admit it too himself. He was attracted to Miranda and the way he treated her was his way of pushing her away and preventing himself from developing any sort of feelings for the woman. The biggest turn off for him was arguing with a woman and he began to think that this was his way of keeping the wall up between them. ‘Well, it worked’ he thought to himself. ‘Now she wants nothing to do with me.’

The next day…

Miranda looked at her desk phone and noticed Skinners office number pop up on the caller id.

“What the hell does he want?”

Contemplating letting the call go to voicemail she picked up the receiver on the last ring.

“Hello.”

“Miranda, it’s Skinner.”

Silence.

“I owe you an apology Miranda but I’d like to speak to you in person. Could we meet in my office in, say, about 15 minutes?”

“Phil put you up to this didn’t he? I don’t think anything you can say at this point will make a difference. We obviously can’t get along and I do have the choice not to deal with you directly and have made that decision not to. Goodbye Assistant Director.”

“Miranda wait! Please, just a few minutes of your time. If you still feel the same then that’s fine. But please, let me apologize, in person at the very least.”

“Why do I get the feeling that this is a huge mistake?” She mumbled.

“You just got me to beg you. I’d say things are looking up.”

Suddenly confused by his attempt at a joke she contemplated her next move.

“Fine. I’ll be over in fifteen.”

As she entered the front office that his secretary occupied she began to feel at unease when she noticed Kim was not at her desk. She really could use a witness in case things got hairy. She couldn’t remember a time when the two of them had interacted where things were pleasant. He always had this gruff attitude and came across as an inpatient prick, like she was wasting his time being in his presence. She was never quite sure if it was that he didn’t like her or if he was just an asshole to everyone. Miranda never had a problem getting along with people. She considered herself pretty open minded and open to other people’s opinions and ideas. Never had she had to deal with anyone this way and just didn’t know how to deal with a person like him other than hold her own in the face of attack. She noticed his door was open a crack and knocked lightly pushing the door open slightly.

“Come on in.”

She heard his voice from the other side of the door. Pushing the door open and then shutting it behind her as she entered the room. Without a word she walked over and sat herself in one of the chairs in front of his desk. They looked at one another for a moment, tension filling the air between the two. Suddenly inpatient Miranda crossed her arms over her chest and broke the silence.

“You wanted to talk? So talk?”

------------

He couldn’t help but crack a smile when she spoke for the first time.

“Something funny Assistant Director? I surely hope that you didn’t call me here to…” He broke in before she could finish.

“Miranda, I’m not laughing at you. I’m laughing at this whole situation. I apologize.”

He watched her relax a little before he began again.

“I think…that you are incredibly intelligent and extremely efficient at what you do. But not only that, you have become such a huge asset to us and although you may find it hard to believe I think you have done a great job stepping in for Phil Marshal. It isn’t easy to fill that mans shoes and you have managed to do it with such ease and grace. I owe you thanks but instead just gave you a hard time about it and I am extremely sorry for that Miranda.”

Miranda sat dumbstruck. She lowered her crossed arms and placed her hands in her lap.

“Is that it?”

Taken aback by her comment, Skinner wasn’t sure how to proceed. She was obviously still on the defense and that just wasn’t good enough.

“What will it take for us to get along? I admit it. I’m can be a complete ass.”

“You mean asshole don’t you?”

“Fine, I’m an asshole and I’m sorry. I need you to try and give me another chance, for Phil.”

He watched as her mouth worked back and forth as she bit the inside of her cheeks, then blew out a puff of air from between her lips.

“I just know I’m going to regret this. Fine.” She said as she stood to leave. “I’ll set up a time for our next meeting.”

As she moved to leave, Skinner got up and made his way around his desk.

“Miranda…”

Coming up behind her he grabbed one of her arms and she turned, first looking at his hand on her and then up at him expectantly.

“Miranda, I…I give you permission to put me in my place the next time I act out of hand.” He let out a small laugh. “Not that you don’t do a good job of it already.”

“Why do you hate me Walter?” She asked bluntly.

Releasing her arm he stuck his hands in his pants pockets and looked down at his feet for a moment and then back at her.

“You intimidate me.”

“What? I intimidate you?” Shaking her head in disbelief.

“Miranda, did you ever get bullied by a boy when you were a kid?”

“Yeah, sure. But what does that have to with anything?”

“You know what they say about boys who bully girls? Why they do it?”

----------------

Miranda thought for a moment about Skinner’s last question. As realization set in the tension in her forehead smoothed out and she began to scan Skinner’s face for confirmation. She began to wonder if he was pulling her leg. What was he trying to tell her? That he had a crush on her?

“Walter, what are you trying to sa…”

Before she could finish her sentence he leaned in to kiss her. The feel of his mouth on hers caught her by surprise but what surprised her even more was when she began to kiss him back. She felt his hand move to her lower back and pull her into him. Their kissing grew furious and aggressive, almost as if their mouths were fighting the other for control. Miranda had never felt so turned on in her life. Reaching up she placed a hand on each side of his neck gripping him tightly, as if to prevent him from pulling away. She felt him move forward, backing her up until the back of her legs hit the side of the conference table. Sliding her hands over the front of his shirt and down to his waist she pulled his shirt out of his pants and slipped her hands underneath. The feel of her hands on his bare skin set her on fire and before long she began pulling at his belt buckle to undo his pants. There were no direct thoughts running through her mind at that moment, just need. And she needed to feel him inside of her or she would go mad. As she undid his pants he began to pull her skirt up until it was completely bunched up at her waist. Pushing her back onto the table their mouths separated long enough for Skinner to pull the crotch of her panties to one side and slide his engorged cock into her, causing her to moan out loud. She gave into him as his mouth attacked hers again and his cock pumped into her. She couldn’t believe what was happening as she placed her feet on two chairs on either side of them to give him better access to her.

---------------

Skinner knew he was taking a huge risk by kissing Miranda. But when she kissed him back all bets were off. He had never wanted a woman the way he wanted her now. All of his pent up aggression was now being released into their kiss but it wasn’t enough from years of growing frustration that had been building. Backing her into the conference table he pushed her against it, trapping her. It was all he could do when she began to yank at his shirt and touch his body. But he could hardly believe it when she began yanking at his belt buckle to undo his pants. If he had known it was going to be this easy he would have done it long ago. Bending down slightly, he located the bottom hem of her skirt and began to pull it up over her hips until he could feel her bare skin against his. Pulling his mouth away from hers he looked down to see what he had to work with. ‘Dear God, she had on thigh high stockings’, he then pulled her black panties to one side to expose her, ‘and she was shaved’. Gripping his cock he forced himself inside of her before she had a chance to make another move. The sound that escaped her only stoked his fire as he began to pound into her.

If Skinner had to describe the way she felt in only a few words it would have been hot, wet and tight. He gripped her hips as she placed her feet up on either side of them, spreading herself wide to him. As he fucked her, the sounds coming from the two of them began to resound throughout his office. He pushed her back so that she was lying on the table. Leaning over her he placed a hand over her mouth and continued pumping into her, only this time harder. He could feel her bite him and he responded by biting her breast through her shirt creating a small cry from her above. Feeling his excitement grow, he knew he wouldn’t be able to last much longer and began to feel his orgasm rise. Making the most of his last few pumps, his cock plunged into her with such force creating a nice loud slapping sound when his balls hit her ass. Burying his head into her chest to muffle his moans, he pulled out of her just before he came and released himself onto her smooth shaven pussy. He lay atop of her breathing heavily into her blouse, the scent of sex mixing in with her perfume. Daring to look up at her he noticed her eyes were closed and then opened when she sensed him looking at her. She met his gaze with a small, tired smile.

“I’m glad we worked out our differences Walter.”

She laid her head back onto the table and he made to move off of her. Pulling his pants back up he walked over to his desk to grab a handful of tissues to clean his mess off her. As he walked back to the conference table where she lay, he couldn’t help but pause seeing her lying there with her skirt around her waist and her legs still propped on the chairs. It was possibly the hottest thing he had ever seen. As he approached, he slid back in between her legs looking down at her again.

“Me too. Wish we would have done this sooner.”

She propped herself up on her elbows to see the damage he had done taking the tissues from his hand and began to wipe his fluids off of her. Sitting up, once she had a majority of it cleaned off, she yanked her skirt back down. After a few rearrangements she stood, pushing him back. He stood staring down at her as she continued to work at straightening her skirt and blouse.

“Does this mean you accept my apology?”

She looked up at him, squinting slightly as she scanned his face.

“You think you’re getting off this easy don’t you?”

“Well, I…no of course not.”

“I’m kidding. I accept your apology Walter but I think we need to talk. You can take me to dinner and then well… you can finish what you started here today because I was just getting started and I expect you to finish me off.”

She leaned up to kiss his mouth and then turned to leave.

“Oh and Walter. I expect you to last at least twice as long next time but keep doing what you were doing.”

She gave him a wink and headed to the door. He stared after her as she walked out of his office trying to absorb what had just happened.

A few days later…

Miranda finished shutting down her computer and got up from her desk to peak into Executive Director Marshals office.

“Have a good weekend Phil. I’m heading out in a few.”

“Hey Miranda, you still haven’t filled me in on your chat with Skinner. What ended up happening?”

“Oh, well, let’s just say we are still working out our issues but I’d say things are looking up.”

“You have to tell me what he said that made you change your mind about him. You were ready for blood just a few days ago.”

“He just seemed honorable with his apology and I am going to give him another chance. Not much more to tell.”

She watched as Phil sat back in his chair gauging her response. She could tell he was having a hard time wrapping his head around the fact that her and Skinner had suddenly just worked out their differences.

“I’m glad. I know he is a tough one to get through to but maybe you have finally gotten past that barrier with him. Good for you. Have a good weekend Miranda.”

She couldn’t help but smile as she headed back to her desk to get her things. Walter still had a lot of making up to her to do and she couldn’t wait to see how he did it.
