Somebody’s watching…
An: starts during the end scene of 1x18. When Reid and Morgan talk at the end. It was just 2 good to be true… *wicked grin*
Warning Unbeta’d if someone want to help me beta my stuff let me know!
Reid was sitting in the dark bullpen, contemplating the tabloid cover with him and Lila on. His lips curled into a half smile, before turning down into a frown. The connection he had found with the blond was nice. It was rare for him to form such emotional attachments. But he still regretted the circumstances that they came about.
He had never been in a situation like that. It was more of a Morgan situation to be in as the matter of fact, having a girl throwing herself at him. It was nice for the geeky kid to be noticed ones in a while. The thought of his friend made the young man smile.
Noise from a desk few chairs away remind Reid that his friend is actually still there. Spencer throws down the publication on his desk, a feeling of shame rising in his chest.
A dark chuckle from Morgan makes the younger man turn and face his friend.
“Night Hollywood…“ Morgan says with a teasing smile, the tone laughter in his voice obvious. But still there was special warmth, which he seemed only to reserve for Reid and Garcia.
But Spencer, with his hard time of reading people, only heard the teasing. Feeling the sting of the words, crash with his internal worries he winches and mutters.
“Come on man ... “He blushes lightly. He often seemed to be blushing around Derek. The Larger man was intimidating. But at the same time he made the always awkward Reid feel safe. Despite the older mans passion for teasing the “pretty boy”.
“You know Reid your lucky they didn’t get a shot of you next to the pool trying to dry your gun, You looked like a wet rat.” By the end he must have seen the affect of his words on Reid, because he adds in a much softer voice. Obviously trying to comfort the slighter man.
“Hey,” when he has Reid’s attention he adds. “I was playing”
Reid looks away with a small tilt of his lips the only answer. But that small tilt of the lips allows the dark man to know that his words are forgiven.
He becomes serious as he sees how Reid struggles to get his words out. It was only in situations like this that his young genius had trouble. Morgan could see the half blush sweeping up sharp cheek bones. Oh this was serious.
“Did you know um ... That she- we. I kissed her in the pool.
So weird it doesn’t feel like it really happened you know…” Morgan has a hard time getting Reid to meet his eyes so that the young men can se that he is serious.
“Sure, sure… she is a beautiful young actress...” Derek trails of his voice bland. He was desperately trying to hide the emotions inside him.
“Yeah I kept explaining to her about transference and the fact that she probably only liked me because I was there to protect her” Reid rambles. Trying to cover up the fact that his self doubts was getting to him, despite the teams efforts to strengthen his belief in himself.
“Reid! You were her hero!” Derek’s voce is intense. Now he means business. Only he is allowed to mess with the pretty boy. Not even Reid’s own mind is allowed.
“I wanted to think that ...” Reid trails of. Obviously he truly likes the girl and wants reassurance from his friend that she probably likes him to. No matter how painful Derek knows what he needs to do.
“No-no-no,” Derek’s voice is like a whiplash trough the silent room,” don’t go selling yourself short kid. You took down an armed subject without firing a single shot. You saved her life. That pretty much a hero in my book.”
They look at each other, something flowing between them. Reid looks away first. But that brief emotional connection had Derek almost breathless.
“Let me ask you this, have you ever crossed the professional boundaries with a victim on a case you were working on?” Reid asks his voice very soft and hesitant. Derek almost smiles. But he refrains, not wanting to come across as mocking. He crosses his arms in front of his chest and leans back on the desk a bit.
“No.” His answer is shirt but truthful. But then he had a few more years on his neck then Reid. His emotional control was better because he was not pure brain. He was just as much heart. So he knew how to control himself.
“It’s pretty bad right?” He sees Reid struggling to smile. Derek’s heart clenches a bit in his chest.
“There is some things you can’t control even with that big ol’brain of yours. No harm, no foul. Let it go...” Morgan smiles at Reid and start to gather his things to go.
The hesitant voice of the young genius makes him turn around again.
“Hey Morgan? Has there ever been a girl you wanted to be with for more then just one night?”
“Excuse me?” Derek actually feels offended.
“I-d never seen you with the same girl twise...” But as he listened to Reid’s stuttuered explanation he has to fight a smile. The dark man just had to take it one step further.
“What are you calling me a dog?” he walks towards Reid.
“No no... Not at all... I’m just... I am just trying to figure out if this feeling I have is ever going to go away…” Reid’s voice is almost painfully soft and his eyes are on his desk.
Derek sighed deeply as he sits on the corner of the lighter mans desk. Mentally debating the level of honestly he wants in this situation.
“Yeah there has been someone.” His voice is warm and soft as he looks down as Spencer. The tone of his voice causes the young genius too look at the darker mans face.
“There has?” The somewhat stunned question slid out unchecked. Making Reid blush and Morgan laugh softy.
“Yeah a few years back now. There was never a right time. And there were other issues as well…”
“Does it ever go away?” Spencer’s voice is almost wistful.
Derek is silent for a while making Reid look up at him.
Studying the face above him, Reid sees something new in the familiar landscape. He can’t identify what it is. But it make’s his heart beat faster and his breath catch in his chest.
“If it’s true… it never truly goes away. It can become deeper... or it can soften by time. But true love is truly forever...”
Derek suddenly stands making Reid back of to get out of his way.
“I ... um... got to go.” Derek’s voice sounds half panicked.
Reid is stunned as the Dark skinned man almost seems to run away from him.
“Derek... I’m sorry... I” His voice is desperate he does not know what he has done to make Derek so angry.
“Its not you... it’s… I just have to go.” He has almost reached the doors when the electronic doors release and slam shut. Trying in vain to pull the doors open Derek looks at a nearby security camera.
“Garcia, you sneaky bitch. You release this door.” his breath is deep, his body tense, he is fighting his anger. The panic is flooding his body with adrenalin. And he does not want the gentle man with him to see him like this.
“What is going on?” Reid’s soft voice, so unlike his lecture voice almost makes Morgan jump out of his skin.
“Garcia... She has locked us in...” Morgan grounds out.
“Why?” Reid asks the very logical question.
“Because she has gotten it into her head…” He turns back to the camera. “I can’t Garcia, Penelope …do you want me to leave. Because if I do this and... I will leave. I can’t stay here… I swear it!”
Reid leaned against a near by desk as his mind went into overdrive. Puzzling the pieces together.
The looks. The voice, his protective messures. The banter. Garcia’s looks and even glares. The emotions. The panic. The anger. The fear.
His eyes become clear as he focuses back on the real world were Derek has become silent leaning his head against the door. He studies the dejected form of one of the few people he truly calls a friend.
He is beautiful. He is beautiful to Reid in a way that woman never are. Reid feels Safe beside the bigger man. If he could choose anyone to spend time with it would be Derek.
If Spencer was honest with himself. He had been feeling what he felt with Lila. A lot longer that the last case. Just not for her. The connection. The heat.
The genius walks silently across the room and turns Derek around. Strangely enough seeing the fear in Derek’s eyes, makes his own go away.
The slight man steps in close. He could feel the heat of Morgan’s body trough his clothes.
“What’s going on pretty boy?” Morgan murmurs as Reid’s hands caressed the way from his arms slowly up to his neck to frame his face. Derek’s eyes darken in desire; he knows it’s written across his face. But something in the man in front of him makes his fear melt away.
“I love you Derek Morgan…” The younger man looks Derek in the eyes. Allowing the dark man to see him, for maybe the first time, the scared soul that lives under all that knowledge. The pure romantic who still believed in soul mates, and happy endings.
Derek raised hi hand behind Spencer’s neck drawing him into a deep hungry kiss. Letting the younger man go he laid his forehead against Spencer’s. Just looking into those eyes.
“I love you too Spencer Reid. My pretty boy… “
Spencer laughed and drew Derek into another kiss. They forgot about time and space. Just enjoying that first blissful seconds of love discovered.
Up in her Cubical a gleeful little tech goddess was jumping in her chair watching as the two most important men in her life kissed. She was so happy for them.
“Oh my… “The things in the bullpen were heating up so she killed the feed and made sure that the cameras in the bullpen would suffer a glitch.
She whistled as she joyfully sabotaged her own system so that not one second of Reid and Morgan’s conversation, and the following next few hours would ever be seen by any other eyes then hers.
Killing the powers to her computer she whistled as she headed down the hall and as she passes the fire doors of the bullpen, that sadly was not see though she whispered.
“Good night my darlings… “
The end! Or iiiiis it?
