Destenie is never easy
Destiny is not always easy…
Clark Kent sat on the steps to the loft. His mind was a jumbled mess of questions and answers. His relationship with Lana had ended and he wondered, his mother’s word was echoing trough his brain. That he had never fully given himself to Lana because she was not the one. The problem was that he had a pretty good idea who his ideal partner was. It had been an instant connection and an emotional bond. The problem was that he had never been true to that person either.
He leaned his head in his hands and let out a world weary sigh. He had lied to the one person whom he could love for the rest of his life for years now, sense the day that they had met.
He was so lost in his thoughts that he did not hear his mother coming into the barn. Clark looked up as she sat down beside him.
“You look deep in thought Clark. Is it the break up with Lana? “
“No … it’s the things you said. I think you might be right.” Clark looked at her with warmth in his eyes.
“About what, Clark?” His mum asked.
“I think Lana was not the one. I think that I am finally ready to admit who is…“He closed his eyes. “Sadly this is easier now when dad is gone.”
“It’s Lex.” His mom said with a knowing smile on her lips. She had seen it, the connection and the heat between them. They were the type of people that would either be lovers for life or would spend life hating each other. But how ever it turned out, they would always need each other.
Clark looked at his mom in surprise.
“How? I mean, how did you know?”
“A mom always knows. “ She smiled slightly. “Besides, you get starry eyed when he is around, despite being at odds with him.”
She laughed aloud as her little boy blushed deeply.
“Why not tell him Clark.”
“I think he is interested in Lana…”
“No I don’t think so… “When Clark looked at her in question she continued. “Honey, that young man is so easy to read sometimes.”
She gestured to the doors of the barn.
“Why don’t you head over there?”
Clark gave her a wobbly smile before standing and heading out the barn at a brisk clip. Heading to the mansion, walking because he needed time to think over what he wanted to do.
All too soon he stood in front of the main entrance to the mansion. Knocking he was let inside by one of the maids. He was told that Lex was in his office.
Clark stopped at the door, silently observing the older man. His eyes tracing those features with an intensity that astounded even Clark himself.
“Are you going to stare at me all day Clark or are you coming in…” Lex said with a dry drawl. Clark swallowed his nerves and stepped into the room.
“I just didn’t want to disturb you…”
“I always make time for friends… what’s on your mind Clark. “ His voice gave a slight twist at the word friends, making the dark young man see just how much he had hurt the older man.
“Making amends…” He spoke without even considering, “I...yeah that is a good word for it. I came to make amends. I have been a fool.” He took a seat on a sofa.
“ Come join me Lex. I think we both need to be comfortable for this…” Clarke watch Lex struggle with his naturally curious mind. The dark man thanked the gods, that the billionaire was unsuccessful.
“What?” The bald man said as he took a seat, taking a sip of water.
“I have been dishonest with you Lex, that’s true. But only because what I hid could prove to be a disaster if it becomes public. I could be killed. My mom could get in trouble, and would be hounded to the ends of the earth. “
Lex frowned. But he stayed silent and listened. He looked into honest blue eyes and for ones he did not see the lies. He saw Clark. The fear and the desperation to tell Lex the truth. He could feel the scars on his heart that the feud between the had caused soften just a bit.
“I have wanted to tell you this for years Lex. You have no idea how close I have been to telling you so many times. “Clark sighed heavily. He leaned back and sighed deeply. “The first day we meet I started to lie to you. Not because I didn’t trust you. It was because the truth is a bit to amazing. “
Lex looked at the dark haired man whom had been his first true friend. The man he had fallen in love with years ago. He saw the regret in those baby blue eyes. But also a healthy dose of fear. His heart lurched as he came to a logical conclusion.
“I hit you that day..” it was not a question but a statement.
“Yes… “ Clark said softly. So softly that Lex almost didn’t hear him.
“How did you live…. That crash should have killed you. Are you meteor affected?”
Clark shocks his head. He smiled a small sad smile as he sat up a bit straighter.
“It’s a bit more then that. That day I found out that I am not from this world. I was born in the andromeda galaxy on a plant called krypton. “
“A alien?” Lex eyes were wide in disbelief.
“Yes, I was sent here to save me from the planets destruction. I even have the ship to prove it. And as my mom likes to say I found them not the other way around.”
The Billionaire was silent as Clark told him everything, not holding anything back. When the dark haired man was done the silence stretched. Lex was deep in thought and was hardly aware of the agony he was causing Clark with his silence.
Soon Clark just had to break the silence.
“Well you’re not running away in fear. I’ll take that as a good sign.” He smiles as his words and tone makes his friend start laughing. Lex calms down and smiles at Clark.
“Only you Clark. Only you would dump something like that on me, then make me laugh like that. Maybe that is why I like you.” He winks at the alien, he honestly has a hard time wrapping his head around it. But Clark at least is honest with him now. And he could tell that the other man wasn’t lying. He could see it in his eyes.
“So?” Clark asked with a soft voice. His nerves obvious. He hoped that Lex would prove that his trust was not misplaced.
“So what, Clark?” Lex asks his voice just as soft. He could se the hesitation in his friend and this makes his heart hurt just a bit. He could also see the love in those, oh so open eyes.
“So what do you say about all this?”
Clark is startled as soft lips capture his own, the other man moving to fast for Clark to see. He groans helplessly into the demanding kiss and opens his lips allowing himself to be claimed.
As the kiss breaks blue eyes meet. One set darkening to a deep indigo and the other becoming almost Caribbean green.
“I told you long ago Clark. We have a destiny. I was just waiting for you to see it as well.” With those words Lex found himself on his back, being kissed just as deeply as he had kissed Clark. He groaned helplessly, relaxing into the soft leather under him and allowed himself to be claimed.
