I do NOT own Law & Order: SVU, Nor do I make any profit from writing these stories

She moved slightly, her slacks riding up her calf. The low heels she prefers to wear are still on her feet. She turned finally, the file in her fingers slipping to the floor.
Elliot Stabler scowled. He hated taking orders, but this time the Captain was watching him. There were no other cots empty, no others from SVU were napping. He turned his scowl back to his CO.
He couldn’t wake her. He wouldn’t wake her, to be more precise. His order wasn’t to wake her anyway. He bent down and picked up the file. He straightened the papers within, and slid it under the pillow.
He moved to the foot of the cot and removed her shoes. He very carefully covered her with the thin blanket. He moved to leave the room.
“I said for you to nap. You two have been working for 27 hours straight. Now, either find a way to nap, or wake her.” Cragen said simply. “Though, she did follow my order. You should follow her example.”
Stabler looked around the room again. There was enough space so he laid down, his back to her. He heard the door softly click shut. Before he knew it, he was asleep.
It was just a short time later when he felt a hand lightly shake him. “Cragen says to get up. Another girl’s been reported missing; she was reported twenty minutes ago.”
Detective Stabler blinked as he woke up. He could feel Olivia moving behind him. She was more alert than he was.
“Do we have a description? Has she been missing long?” She sat up, tossing the blanket off. “Where are my shoes?”
“At the foot of the cot, they got caught in the blanket.” Stabler sat up, folding the blanket.
“El, wow, you look exhausted.” Olivia half smiled. “You get the coffee, I’ll get the report.”
Fin Tutuola shook his head. “No time. Coffee’s on your desks along with the report.”
Olivia slipped on her shoes. She straightened the tailored jacket then tried to shake the wrinkles from her slacks. She picked up the file and walked out of the cot room, her partner close on her heels.
Morning sunlight was brighter in the main room, causing both detectives to blink. Olivia picked up a coffee and handed it to Elliot.
“Elizabeth Walker, age 27, black female. This guy doesn’t follow any pattern; he just snatches when he can.” Fin shook his head. It’s not my call, but I don’t think that Olivia should try to go out on this one.”
Elliot nearly scaled himself on a swallow of coffee. He snatched the paper from his partner’s fingers and read it.
“How are we supposed to investigate this? There are no witnesses, no description other than a twenty seven year old black female. It could be nearly any woman in the area. There’s not even a location.”
Olivia snatched the paper back. She read it over then knelt by her desk. She set her cup down and opened a drawer. She flipped through a few files then selected one.
“I think I can clear this up. There is one thing that is mentioned in the report. She has a tattoo on her right hand.” She opened the file and read through. Picking up the phone she dialed a number. “Yes, this is Olivia Benson, SVU. I am calling to check up on Elizabeth, is she available?”
Elliot watched as Olivia made the phone call. She took down notes, frowning during the call. He nursed his coffee and moved to look at the file with her.
“Yes, when did you notice she was missing?” Olivia paused, waving to the other two detectives. She wrote down two numbers, handing one to each. “El, call her job. Fin, would you call her boyfriend. Her mother says that she didn’t come home from work two nights ago.”
Elliot moved away to make the call. He could hear Fin speaking somewhat roughly on his line.
When Olivia finished her phone call she looked to Elliot.
“She works nights at Crescent Gardens Assisted Living. Her mother said she left early to cover for another worker.” Elliot held up a finger, signaling for Olivia to wait. Fin slammed the receiver down.
“Boyfriend says he hasn’t seen her in a week. He’s the one who filed the report, not her mother.”
Elliot was writing down his own notes. The morning nurse who answered his call was checking the schedule.
“She didn’t show up for work, nor was she supposed to fill in for anyone. Though, one of the evening shift workers complained their ride didn’t show up that night…”
