Class Reunion

Chapter 1

**Freddie’s Story**

He pulled into his parking space after a long drive home from work. He walks into the apartment building that he spent his high school years in. He stopped at the mailboxes putting the key in he gave it a turn. Takes the mail out and closes the box with a turn of the key once again. This was what he did everyday Monday through Saturday.

He would go through the mail as he rode the elevator to the eighth floor. He would put the important envelopes into his laptop bag and hangs onto the non-important ones so he could discard them later.

He read the names of on the different colour envelopes bills, notices, and then he seen it, the one thing he had dread from the day he graduated. Here in his hand he held the one thing that scared him more than sleeping in the dark. He held his invitation to his ten year class reunion.

He didn’t dread the thought of going back to a school where he was picked on or the kid that no one would talk to. This was not the case at all Freddie was part of the very popular webcast iCarly with his two best friends. He was very well liked and he was only picked on by his friend Sam. He was the president of the AV club and was the technical producer of iCarly so he was definitely not a no-body.

No Freddie’s problem was way deeper than the ‘on one liked me’ it was not the ‘oh the girl that got away’ or even the ‘what have I done in ten years’.

Freddie fumbled with his keys then he opened the door to the apartment that he had shared with his mother up until her death right after graduation. He would look through the peephole after closing the door as he did every time he walked into his apartment. He knew that the girl who lived across the hall was long gone. She had lived there with her brother and then at the end of their junior year Sam had moved in.

That was the day that Sam found herself without a place to live. That was the worst day he had had in his teen life. That would not be the worst by far as he would find in months to come. He looked at the door across the hall while the memories pored in his head of the day that Sam’s world came crashing down around them both.

Sam was waiting outside of the school for her mother. Freddie was staying late for AV club when he walked out and seen his friend still waiting. She looked worried and angry all at once. “Hey what are you still doing here?”

“My hair brained mother forgot me again.”

“Well my mom can give you a ride if you want.”

“Cool” She was quite on the ride to her place as they pulled up to her apartment building she asked him to come up to help her with the stuff for the show. She thought it would go faster but looking back Freddie had a feeling she didn’t want to go in there alone.

Sam opened the door to her apartment and they both froze in one place. The place was empty all of her mother’s things were gone Sam ran into her room to find all of her things packed into two small boxes. Her clothes had been thrown into one large suit case with a note sitting on the suit case. Freddie placed a friendly hand on her shoulder as he read the note.

‘Hey had to split you’re on your own now. Your sister is with your father but he doesn’t want you either. Later.’

She fell back into him and turned in his arms. “Oh god Freddie what am I going to do?” He took her into a full hag and let her cry. “Don’t worry Sam I’m here and you’re not going anywhere.” As he placed a small kiss on her shoulder he turned them and walked out of her bedroom. They stopped at the front door. “I’m going to take you down to the car and then come back for your stuff. I will call Spencer and see if you can stay there until I can think of something” She nodded and they walked out of the apartment. He got her settled in the car after explaining everything to his mother. Then he ran up to her apartment he walked into the living room and leaned against the door frame. He pulled out his phone and dialed Spencer’s number, “Hey Spencer we have a huge problem here, I’m up at Sam’s place and her mother skipped out on her. She left her all alone and now she has nowhere to go can she stay at your place until we can think of something?” He finished telling the older guy everything from them walking in and finding everything gone to Sam reading the note as he spoke he was fighting tears.
“Of course. Oh what a thing to do. Is she okay?”

“Is who okay?” He heard Carly’s voice and knew that she would hit the fan when Spencer told her.

“Sam’s mom skipped out on her again. This time she took everything and left Sam with two boxes and a suit case. She was nice enough to leave a note this time though. Freddie is with her and is bringing her over here.”

“That fucking bitch how could she do this again? So she’s really gone this time like not coming back?”

“I don’t know hun we have to wait and see.”

“No waiting you promised Spencer and Sam needs you to keep your promise.”

“Look I’m getting her things we’ll be there shortly.” He shut the phone then he grabbed Sam’s things and left the now completely empty apartment. As he walked to the car he could see Sam crying in the back seat. Without thinking he opened the back door and slid next to her pulling her into his arms. He let Sam lay her head in his chest and she cried herself to sleep and Freddie held her tight only letting go to get out of the car she was then back in his arms as soon as he could get her out of the car.

He was still holding her as they walked up to his apartment Spencer and Carly were waiting for them. Carly took Sam into her arms and disappeared into the apartment than Spencer and Freddie went to get her thing. They brought the elevator up as the door opened the sight of the two girls sitting on the couch Sam crying in Carly’s arms made Freddie heart brake for the blond girl.

Later that night he sat in his living room with his mother and cried. He couldn’t believe a mother could just up and leave her kid no matter how bad they could be and Sam wasn’t that bad.

“Freddie I want you to know I was very proud of you today. You behaved like a man and Sam will be better for it. She’ll never forget what you did for her.”

He shook his head and walked away from the peephole. He didn’t want to think about the past anymore. The more he thought about it the sadder he became. Sam was very grateful for him after that and she didn’t pick on him as much, they were closer but still there was something that felt wrong and he could never pinpoint it, well he would find out what it was and then he would never be the same and their friendship would not only suffer but it will crumble to a bitter broken end.

He walks over to the green chair in the living room hitting the back of it with the back of his hand. “The diabolical torture device the comfy chair. I could sit here and think about the past or worry about the reunion. Then there is my favorite past time playing with the machine that goes ping.” He laughs to himself as he remembers the iCarly rehearsal that the three of them had so much fun but the fun wouldn’t last long.

“Sam you have to be in the chair.” Carly told her pointing to the over stuffed chair in the middle of the stage.

“I don’t want to be in the chair I fall asleep every time I’m in it.” She complains.
“Oh that’s okay you’re so cute when you sleep.” Carly told her without thinking.

“Oh yes the diabolical torture device...the comfy chair.” Freddie spoke in a bad British accent and patted the back of the chair.

“Wow you are getting weirder Fred” Sam smiled at him.

“Say what you will young blond one for your words do not harm me for I have the machine that goes ping!” Freddie was doing a little happy dance in front of his equipment. The girls started to laugh at him then Sam hit the Random Dancing button on her remote. They all start dancing and laughing until they all fell to the floor. He wasn’t paying any attention to his two friends when he got to his feet. Looking for the first time at them all he could do was stand in silence and stare.

The two girls had been dancing together when they fell Sam had fallen on top of Carly. Without thinking of where they were the two girls started to kiss.
He watched with a look of ‘holy shit’ plastered on his face. He watch them thinking that this should be turning him on. He looked at Carly the girl he was in love with making out with Sam the hottest girl he knew by far. Sure Carly was cute and had her points of what could be conceder hot but Sam now that is the personification of a hottie hands down.

Then for no unexplained reason his thought drifted to a day in the locker room. The guys were making a list of the top ten hottest girls in school Carly was number three and Sam was the number one hottest girl in school.

One of the girls moaned bring him back to the scene in front of him they had taken their kiss deeper hands and legs were moving they had become closer and the scene was dangerously moving from PG13 to NC17. He tried to think of something to say but his voice wouldn’t work with his mouth. Every time he opened his mouth nothing would come out, not even a little squeak. The only thing he could think of was this was definitely not their first kiss and by the look of things they have had this kind of dance before.

Then he found the strength to move toward the door as he moved he hit Sam’s remote with his arm she had left it on his cart.

Both girls jumped at the sound of the remote hitting the floor, they looked at him with crimson colored faces. He didn’t know if it was embarrassment or the fact that they were rapidly moving to the next level right there in font of him without a care.

“Hi I thought I should leave and let you two...do what ever you were going to do.” He looked at the two girls with a pained expression. “I should go I’ll come back for my stuff later.”

“No Freddie we should talk about this.” Sam jumped to her feet but was instantly regretting the statement of talking as Freddie turned on her.

“Oh now you want to talk to me? You know how I feel about her and the first thing you do after moving in is take any chance I had.” He yelled at her.
“Hey you better back off she didn’t take your chance you never had one and Sam didn’t make her move as soon as she moved in, we have been together long before that!” Carly yelled right back at him.

“We have been doing iCarly for going on three years. How long has she been doing you?”He spat pointing at Sam.

“Carly, Freddie stop before you say something you can’t come back from.” Sam walked in between them.

“Now everything is falling into place, all the sleepovers, the hand holding, and all the girly time. So Sam is this why you parents don’t want you because you disgust them?” He spat at Sam not even caring about the hurt look and the tears building in her eyes. “And to think I cared that you didn’t have a place to live. I actually cared about you. I even defended you in the locker room when the guys were calling you a slut, hey maybe they were right. But it wasn’t the basketball team they should be worried about it’s the cheerleading squad.” He was now out in the hallway yelling back into the studio.

“Freddie you need to leave right now!” Spencer was standing right behind him with his arms crossed over his chest.

Freddie whipped the tears from his face as the memories brought the pain back. Then he remembered the last thing Sam ever told him. This was until the worst day of his life.

Freddie stood under the iCarly sign remembering the best time of his life. “It was fun while it lasted right?” Sam stood next to him tears falling onto her face.

“Sure I guess so but now it’s over.”

“It doesn’t have to be I know that Carly will come around and then. Oh who am I kidding you will never come back and Carly all but hates you for what you said to me.”

“And you? Do you hate me?”
“No I don’t hate you. Beyond what you believe you saved me when I needed to be saved. You were there when my world came crashing down and now I’m here with you for the last time as our friendship crumbles into nothing. I want to answer your question. Yes Carly and my relationship is one of the thousands of reason my parents don’t want me but not the only one. Carly is going to be coming down those stairs any second and then I will walk away with her but remember we did have fun.” Then the bell rang and Carly came down the stairs she glared at Freddie while she waited for her lover. Sam smiled at him and put her hand on his shoulder as he did the day in her bedroom. “I love you and I’m going to miss you!” She turned to walk away “Stay geeky.”

Freddie let the tears fall “Stay blond”

He knew right then that he had to go to this reunion he had to see them he knew this was the only way to put his past behind him. He needed to know if this was going to be a new beginning or the finial good bye. Whipping the tears from his face he walked into his bedroom “Good night girls I hope to see you soon.” Then he closed the door from the crack under the door the light faded into darkness.
