CHAPTER 1
I can’t breathe. Submerged beneath the warm turquoise waters, I feel myself begin to fade-I’m dying. Then he appears. He rides towards upon a silver charger, the size of a Clydesdale. Despite the fact that my life is rapidly slipping from me, I can’t help but vividly remember what he looks like. White, button-down, long sleeve, collared shirt and khaki pants. He had golden red hair, and amazing white feathered wings-majestic and shining. I know this angelic vision before me is an oxygen-deprived hallucination, yet as he reaches beneath the surface of the water I can’t help but attempt to reach back. I feel my body breaking the surface tension as he pulls me from the water. Then, blackness-I lose all consciousness.
Heat. I feel warmth upon my mouth. I find his lips are pressed against my lips-transferring life from his lungs to mine as I temporarily regain a semi-conscious state. My eyelids flutter weakly and briefly gaze into the eyes of the angel who has just saved my life.
“It’s okay; you’re going to be alright. I’m here now,” his gruff but gentle voice manages to soothe the rising panic and hysteria. “I’ve got you; you’re safe. I’m not going to leave you.” I try to nod, but my head feels too heavy. All I manage is a slight bounce, but he gets the message. A slight smile appears on his face and he takes my hand. It’s then that I lose consciousness again.
