Death I suppose that it will embrace us all in time, to loose somebody so young, so vital that is a hard blow to take and yet it is a blow, which I must endure. Anger is all that I feel now no, that too is wrong it is not just anger, it is rage, hatred, pain and of course loss.

He was so kind to me in numerous times of need even when I struck out, when I hurt him with my words he would stay, he would absorb, he would reflect and then he would push what I said aside, I loved and still love him for that. He never faltered one the decision was made to put him to death and the news was given he held up his head his eyes blazing, his jaw clenched and a defiant “so be it” passed his lips.

His lips! Great Gul his lips! The perfect colouration of those beautiful lips, the way they became a perfect bow if he was sombre, that small pout of his when he was sad and then of course there was that smile, I will never forget that smile how many times had he turned that same smile to me? The many times when we first met that he had kindly indulged in listening to my secrets and my lies. The look of reprieve when I had told him about that transport ship I had destroyed just to stop a small group of Bajorans from escaping. The time he had held my hand in the infirmary and forgiven my past, like Ziyal, he saw something else in me, I have never understood what and I never will.

I am old it should be my death, not his and maybe that is selfish but at least the pain would go away. To never again, see youth dancing in those hazel eyes. To never feel that soft skin beneath my lips, or to hear my name spoken so softly. To never watch those tears roll down those soft cheeks when he watched a sad movie, to never be able to comfort him in his hour of sadness, life seems so pointless now.

He is dead because of me, oh I know my dear sweet Julian would argue against that but it is the truth, the Cardassian government, my government ensured that I would suffer through Julian’s pain I watched as he suffered, every whimper plays repeatedly in my head every wound dances before my eyes like sunspots, I can taste the blood from the abuse he suffered although I was not the abuser.

His death was quick a single disruptor blast to his chest. I can not write more it is too hard and the funeral is in ten minutes, I was a fool to think he would be safe with me, my government make sure the guilty suffer I had not expected them to use somebody so innocent in the process.

Goodbye, my dear, sweet Julian rest well you will be avenged.

Benjamin Sisko looked around at the senior staff that had assembled for Julian’s funeral, tear rolled down the faces of Dax and Kira, O’Brien just stared at the floor, Odo stood in a corner his face downcast, Garak had read his report to the room then he had placed a small Cardassian orchid on Julian’s chest kissed his hair and left,

Sisko made a note to check on the Cardassian later. Stepping up to the coffin he looked down at the face of his doctor, all the wounds had been healed and he found he had nothing to say that would show how much he cared he simply said “god speed Julian” and shut the lid it had been arranged that Julian be buried on Bajor so that Garak could go to his grave as often as he needed to, Kira had objected at first but one look at the Cardassian had changed her mind now a transporter beam activated and Julian disappeared to his final resting place.

Garak was found two days later slumped over the headstone of Julian’s grave he had been shot, it was later proved that he was killed by the same disruptor that had killed the young man that he had loved so deeply.
