Summary: An experiment goes awry and a young man is transformed into a bloodsucking deviant while exploring an underground cavern. This story will contain boy love, strong language, and explicit violence.
Prologue
“No!” The doctor shrieked throughout her botanical laboratory as the sound of glass mingled with her angry cries. Her precious specimens had escaped. Their cages were just masses of twisted and warped metal. How could this be? She had only left them for just a moment. Why? Oh, why did she have to go and make sure the VCR was taping the latest episode of Grey’s Anatomy? She was such a sitcom junkie.
Well, this is just great. Another fine mess you’ve gotten yourself into, Missy. You just couldn’t leave well enough alone, could you? You’re always trying to come up with some way to stop Father Time from laying his creeping fingers on your face. And now look at what you’ve done. You’ve gone and created something that shouldn’t exist, and now they’ve fucking escaped.
What are you going to do? Are you going to run and hide in your bedroom, pretending that none of this shit happened? No! No, you can’t do that. That would be totally pointless, now wouldn’t it? You’re just going to have to figure out what you’ve done, and fix it before something really bad happens. That’s what your curious ass is going to do. You and your vanity should be ashamed of both yourselves.
“This is really bad,” she said, flicking her red hair out of her face. “This is really, really bad. I should’ve been a school science teacher.”
“Dr. Adams?” A male voice asked from the lab door. She turned to see her assistant poking his head in. “Is everything alright in here?”
“Everything is just fine, Peter,” she said, nodding her head with a big smile on her pretty face. “I simply dropped a beaker and I’m cleaning up the mess.”
“Oh,” he said, nodding his head. “I’ll just be on my way home then. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight,” she said.
The moment the door closed she threw the beaker in her hand at the nearest wall. It shattered upon contact and the glass fell to the floor with a clatter. The sound of breaking objects always seemed to soothe her mind.
“There is only one thing to do,” she said, taking a deep breath, picking up a red stone that had fallen from the heavens all those years ago. “I have to burn this bitch to the ground, become a blond, and start the damn thing all over again.”
So, that’s exactly what she did. She packed up all of her research and blew Luthorcorp Botanicals to hell, faking her death in the process.
Two Years Later
Ashe shined his bright light around, admiring the sound of water droplets gently dripping down into small crystal clear puddles from the high ceiling above his head. Jagged rocks were growing down like sharp fangs in a serpent’s gaping mouth. Some of the pointy rocks were large while others were rather small. A few of them were almost as large as he was tall and others were as tiny as his little pinky. The coloring was extraordinary. He loved the orange ones. They looked like they glowed from the inside out.
It had been forever since he had last snuck into this cave and it almost felt like he was coming home. He looked up to see a few brown bats flying around, seeking the exit to the night outside. There was a ton of insects just waiting to be feasted upon. Since it was the middle of summer vacation, there was no danger of harming any of the flying puppies.
He accidentally stepped in a shallow puddle and the water felt like icy needles pricking him. The water was freezing and yet the cave was a comfortable temperature. It wasn’t too hot and it wasn’t too cold. He shook his foot, knowing he should have worn boots now. What had he been thinking in just wearing sneakers? That was the problem right there. He hadn’t been thinking. He always had tended to act before thinking. It was just the way he was.
A bat flew right by his left ear and he didn’t even blink. The little guys could see much better than he could. He wished he could see with his ears. That would be so cool. It would also be awesome just to be able to spread your wings and go anywhere you pleased. Flying must be the ultimate freedom. But, man wasn’t meant to ride with fluffy white clouds between their knees.
He shook his head, telling himself to keep dreaming. This was the real world and crazy things like that could never happen. He took a deep breath and kept on walking, until he came to a narrow opening in the wall. That had not been there the last time he was here. Of course, that had been two years ago. It looked like a giant crack had been ripped right down the center of the wall, rounding in that opening. Had the ground shifted or something? Perhaps there had been a rockslide? But, there was no evidence of one. There would be rocks lying around. He moved up closer, shining his light inside. His lime green eyes lit up with surprise. There was a room beyond the crack and the walls were embedded with shiny red rocks. Had he found rubies?
He thanked all the gods of light and darkness that he was a lithe little thing otherwise he wouldn’t be getting in without the gracious help of dynamite. He turned to the side, pointing his flashlight towards the pretty-shiny within, and squeezed his way through the narrow crack. It was a very tight fit, but he made it into the rather large circular room with relative ease. It really is amazing how nature was able to create such wonders deep inside her body. He wished he was able to watch such natural happenings in fast-forward. It was thinking like this that got him picked on at school. He was such a geek. But, he would be the one with the high paying job, and all the jocks would be fathers with beer bellies, paying child support. Thinking like this made him rather happy when he was being degraded for not being cool.
He carefully walked right up to the far wall and shined his light on the jewels looking out at him with their multiple shimmering red facets. They were beautiful and he pulled a little tool from his front pocket. He began to try and carve one of the gems out from the rock around it. If these were rubies, then he was going to be a rich 15 year old. He couldn’t help but laugh. This was so cool. He wouldn’t even have to go to college. He could just buy his own lab and do whatever he wanted. Money would never be a problem.
The red jewel became dislodged and he gently removed it, holding it in his palm, being careful with his light. He didn’t want to drop and break it. Being stuck underground in the dark wasn’t something he wanted to do. That would be a nightmare and he didn’t feel like screaming his head off. He looked the pretty rock over and knew he was going to have to take it somewhere in order to get it identified. He was no expert on rocks or precious gems. If it was pretty and shiny, he liked it.
That was when he suddenly heard familiar chirpings coming from above his head. He looked up, seeing glimmering flashes of phosphorescent red lights. What in the world? One of the glittering red lights dropped down like fire from above and his eyes widened in shock.
It was a little bat. It was no bigger than a butterfly. The little beauty hovered right before his stunned eyes. He had never in his life seen a bat like this before. Its fur was glowing fiery red and its fluttering wings were even brighter. This bat was glowing in the dark. In fact, it was glowing just like all the gems in the walls were suddenly doing. They were making a strange sound, too. It was almost like they were…singing.
He looked up to see that the whole ceiling above his head looked as thought it were in flames. It was covered with shimmering bats. It was simply amazing. Had he found a new species as well? All of them were flashing on and off like fireflies. They were all singing to each other in musical chirps. It was beautiful.
He leaned back against the cool wall, stumbled, and dropped his light. That had been a most unfortunate mistake on his part. Their chirps became painful shrieks, and winged fire fell upon him like waves of flying lava balls.
He tried to scream, but it was completely useless. It was like the air had been sucked from the room like a vacuum. The bats were on him like a fox on a rabbit. He could feel their little razor sharp teeth piercing his flesh. He spun around in circles, fighting, flailing his arms, trying to get them off him.
He stumbled from dizziness, falling to his knees in pain. They were all over him as he tried to blindly crawl to where he thought the opening in the wall was. Their teeth and tiny claws were painful, cutting through his clothing, and he fell flat on his face from exhaustion. Was he going to die? He didn’t know and he was scared. Nobody knew where he was. He didn’t want to die all alone in the dark.
He suddenly felt a sharp pain shoot through his limbs like a bolt of scorching hot lightning. His veins felt as though they were on fire. He finally managed to scream, sending the abnormal bats fluttering away, and he rolled over onto his back, arching it off the cold floor in agony. His eyes widened as he looked to see that the veins in his arms and hands were glowing crimson through his white flesh.
He clawed at the air above him, fingers extended like talons, screaming even louder as the pain coursed through his glowing red veins like poison. It echoed all around him. He thought his voice-box was going to explode in his throat. Red filled his eyes and he had to close them due to the stinging pain that assaulted them like needles. He felt himself start to convulse violently as the pain shot from his jaws down to his midsection. He screamed and fell deathly still as the bats flew in flaming circles over his head.
Molten ruby red eyes snapped open, glowing lemon yellow around the rims of the irises. The bats chirped down at him as he sat up with the stunning grace and speed of a cobra. He looked at his pale arms, seeing all the tiny bites and scratches closing up without blemish. He looked with eyes that could see every detail in the dark before them. His ears twitched and he cocked his head to the side, listening to the sound of running water from miles away. He could hear the worms digging in the earth. He could hear every heartbeat from every bat above his head.
What in the world was this? What had happened to him? How could he see in the dark like this? He felt like his body was humming and he got to his feet with relative ease. A few bats fluttered down, landing on his shoulders, chirping at him.
“What have you done to me?” He asked them, reaching up to pet one under the chin with his index finger. It chirped happily. “How is it that I am able to see in the dark?”
The bats fluttered away from him, flying back up to join the multitude on the ceiling high above his head. He looked at his watch, seeing that it was really late. He needed to get back before his Aunt started to worry about him. That was the last thing he needed. She told him to be home by 11. It was now 10:30.
He put the stone in his pocket and looked back up at the bats. He felt like he could actually understand what it was they were saying. It wasn’t the language of humans. That was for sure. It was a basic, instinctive, primal language.
“Our little secret,” he said, waving up at them.
He walked out of the cave and looked up to the brilliant night sky. The moon was full of radiant silver light and a billion stars were twinkling down at him like eyes. He had never noticed how beautiful and musical the night was before. It was like he could hear and smell everything. All of the colors were so much more vibrant than what he could ever remember. What had those bats done to him?
“Hey, kid!” A loud voice yelled, causing him to hiss in pain, and he put his hands over his ears. He spun around to see a security guard running towards him with a flashlight in his hand. It was so bright. “What are you doing out here all by yourself? Don’t you know that this property is off limits at night? Were you in that cave? Tell me. What are you doing here, kid?”
“Lost,” Ashe lied, finding that the man’s voice was affecting him in a very strange manner. It was like the guy’s voice and his scent was arousing him. “Thank you for finding me.”
He suddenly took careful notice of how his voice was different. It was deeper and yet lighter than air. It was smoky and he liked it, a lot.
His body felt like a great flame and he found that he longed for this man to touch him in naughty ways. He was an extremely handsome man who looked to be in his late twenties now that he took the time to look at him. He had such chiseled tan features and a permanent five o’clock shadow. His hair was the color of the darkest ink and curly. He was tall and very well developed. Someone in this line of work had to be, he assumed.
“Are you all right?” The guard asked him, stepping up to him, shining his light in his face. “You look really pale and your clothes are all torn. Is that blood on you, kid? Did you fall?”
Ashe turned his face away from the annoyingly bright light. It didn’t hurt him, it was just too bright. He needed to get home before his Aunt gave birth to a rampaging cow, but his body had other plans. Plus, the concern in the man’s voice moved him…moved him in such erotic ways.
“Touch me,” Ashe said, gently pushing the light away from his stunning face. Since when had he gotten so bold? He would never dream of speaking to a complete stranger like this, especially a guy. Had he lost his damn mind? This guy could kick his ass.
The guard blinked his blue eyes. “Huh?” He sounded stunned and looked so cute.
Ashe brushed up against him like a cat, sighing on contact. This man’s solid frame was so hard and he smelled so fucking good. His skin smelled of lemongrass and natural pheromones.
“Kid,” the guard gasped, grabbing his naked shoulders with such large hands. Ashe nearly swooned when the man’s skin came into sudden contact with his own. He leaned up breathing in the man’s confused and suddenly stunned face. A shimmering red mist came from his mouth, entering the man’s nostrils. The older man sniffed, shook his head, and suddenly had the gorgeous teen flat on his back, kissing, and grinding his hips against him.
“What is your name?” Ashe moaned as the muscular guy worshipped his smooth, pale neck with his skilled lips. He squirmed under him, not being able to get enough of his kisses. His marble white flesh was screaming for more caresses. It wanted, needed, and craved more. He needed more skin touching him. His body commanded it.
“Max.”
“Take off your shirt, Max,” Ashe begged him, enjoying watching as he did so. He had never seen such a masculine body in real life before. This was the stuff of naughty magazines right here. This guy must really work out…a lot.
“I want you,” Max said, throwing his shirt over his head, grinding his engorged member against him. “I want you now.”
Ashe cringed with pleasure. His mind was not his own. All he could think about was his body’s need. With strength he never possessed before, he had Max on his back, pinning him down by his wrists with paper white hands. Those gorgeous lime green eyes were dilated with need.
“Your eyes,” Max whispered, bucking his hips as Ashe straddled his waist. He could feel the stud’s weeping hardness even more. He could smell his creamy desire. It smelled so fucking good. “Such beautiful eyes…”
Ashe lowered his crimson lips to Max’s tan neck and sniffed. Oh, he smelled wonderful. A sudden rush of need overwhelmed his senses. A sweet pain filled his mouth, his eyes glowed with ruby brilliance, and he bit down with needle sharp teeth. Warmth flooded his mouth and it tasted like thick apple cider.
Max bucked his hips violently several times, crying out as he released his pearly desire. Ashe sucked and lapped at his neck until he forced himself to pull back. He didn’t want to stop, but something made him do so. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth and he licked it away, savoring the sweetness.
Max was gasping for breath, whimpering for more. Ashe kept him pinned down by the wrists as Max’s whole body suddenly went through a drastic change. There was no screaming involved with him. His skin and eyes became very different.
He gazed down into bright topaz blue eyes, releasing his golden wrists. “Are you single, Max?”
“Not anymore,” Max smiled with razor sharp fangs, reaching up to trace his crimson red lips with his index finger.
Ashe felt like he was on crack and Redbull. He felt like there was a shit ton of energy coursing through his veins. What in the world was happening to him? He had just seduced, sucked this guy’s blood, and enjoyed it.
He ran his tongue over his teeth, finding that his fangs were gone. He looked down at Max, watching his fangs slide up into his pink gums.
I’m…a…vampire…
Oh, hell! What the fuck was he going to tell his Aunt? Wait? Could he walk around in sunlight? Oh, shit! What about when school starts again? What the hell was he going to do?
“Would you like to come home with me?” He asked the sexy guy under him.
Max nodded with a dreamy look in his gorgeous blue eyes.
What the hell was he doing? He couldn’t take this…incredibly hot guy home with him? His Aunt would give birth to another rampaging cow. He was 15 and this guy was…
“How old are you, Max?” He asked, getting to his feet with graceful ease, holding out his hand for the muscular guard to take hold of.
“25.”
Ah, he was only ten years younger than him, and he had made him a vampire like those bats had made him one. Oh, this was fun. Now he could eat all the jocks at school.
“You’ll have to climb up the tree to get into my room,” he told him, pulling him to his feet with incredible ease. It was like the man weighed nothing to him. “And you will have to hide in my closet or under my bed should my Aunt come in, okay?”
Max nodded his head, smiling down at him. “Would you like for me to carry you home?”
“No,” Ashe told him, wanting to sink his teeth into the guy’s right peck, while washing the blood out of his clothes on his abs. Shit! How the hell was he going to explain his clothes to his Aunt? “But you can give me a ride home in your car after you put your shirt back on.”
Max did just that and Ashe looked at the wet stain in the front of his pants. The guy must have had a belly full.
“And I’ll lick you clean,” he said, taking Max’s larger hand in his bone white one. “Won’t that be fun?”
Max pulled out his keys, twirling them around his index finger. He looked more than willing to do whatever he wanted. What power did he have over men now?
Ashe looked back at the cave and smiled. He had a lot of thinking to do. That was for damn sure. Well, at least he had the rest of the summer to do just that.
“Is anyone expecting you home?” He asked him.
“Just my cat,” Max told him, sniffing the air. “But, he knows how to fend for himself. I leave the window in the kitchen open so he can come and go as he pleases.”
“Crap!” He hissed, seeing that he was already ten minutes late for curfew. “Come on,” he said, pulling Max after him. “We have to go now.”
Did he just catch a hint of an Irish accent in Max’s voice? Oh, he loved Irish accents. They were so damn sexy.

“Clark,” Lex said, holding up two DVD’s in his hands, smiling at his best friend. “Do you want to watch Interview with the Vampire or Queen of the Damned?”
“Hmm,” he said, stretching out on the sofa. “How about we watch Shadow of the Vampire?”
“Oh,” Lex said, dropping his hands. “That’s a good one, too.”
“Plus,” Clark laughed, kicking off his shoes. “We can always fall back on Bramstoker’s Dracula.”
“What about Dracula 2000?” Lex asked, going down the list.
Clark sat up. “Eternal?”
“I have Vampire Journals, too.”
“Oh, Subspecies!”
“Did you know that the third one was never released in Australia?” Lex asked him.
“Really?” Clark asked in an Australian accent. “That’s funny, mate.”
Lex laughed. “That was terrible.”
“I know,” Clark said, rolling his eyes. “I meant for it to be.”
“Well,” Lex said, pulling all the movies out of his collection. “Pick one.”
Clark groaned. “I can’t decide.”
“Close your eyes and point at one,” he said.
Clark closed his eyes and did just that. He heard Lex snicker and he opened them. He was pointing right at The Howling. “That’s not a vampire movie.”
“I know,” Lex said, turning on the DVD player. “I’m in the mood for a hairy good howl.”
Clark looked away from him. “But, it’s scary.”
“Aw,” Lex said, making a face at him. “Does the farmboy want me to sit beside him and hold his hand?”
Clark bit his bottom lip. “Would you?”
They both looked at each other and snorted. Well, Lex had pretended to do so. In fact, he had hoped Clark had meant what he had asked. He would have gladly sit beside him and hold his hand. That would make him the happiest guy in the world.
“I’ll leave the light on,” Lex said, popping the disk in. “Will that make you feel better?”
Clark nodded his head. “Very much so.”
“Now,” Lex said, looking around, putting his hands on his hips. “What did I do with that remote?”
“Is that it?” Clark asked, pointing at the remote right in front of the bald millionaires face.
“No,” Lex lied, covering his embarrassment as he picked it up. “But it will have to do.”
Clark rolled his eyes again. “I’ll go make popcorn.”
“You do that,” Lex said, flipping through the channels, trying to find the right one. He had not watched a movie in so long. He was lucky he even remembered how to turn a television on without the help of a servant. “There we go,” he said, smiling at his success.”
“I have popcorn,” Clark said, walking back in.
Lex made a face. “That was awfully fast.”
“I’m just that awesome, Lex,” Clark smiled.
Yes, Lex thought, yes you are.
