The New Season of Dr Who

Meet the Doctor

Disclaimer: I own nothing not even a Dr. Who plushy. Thinking of building a blue wooden police box but no matter how I’d pretended it still wouldn’t be the TARDIS.

A/N: Keep it simple I read some where that the next season wasn’t going to be out until 2010. Well that turned out to not be true as on BBCA they announced the new season starting November 8th. By then I had already wrote the first episode in two parts and thought I might as well post it. If I’ve missed spelled anything please let me know.

Catharine looked out the window at the dark sky full of strange stars. “Cat, get away from the window.” Her mother hissed still freaked out. Not that one could blame her I mean how often is your home world kidnapped into alien skies and robot looking creatures roamed the streets killing people. It’s when her eyes landed on two of the cone like creature that her heart suddenly raced and her hand automatically sought the pendent around her neck.

“Mother there are two new ones out there.” She said with a shiver. Once again she wished she was in London where there was a resistance going on and not in small town USA.

“How can you tell they all look the same?” Her mother asked running a hand through her bleach blonde hair looking more worried then Cat had ever seen her before.

“They’re a different color then the rest.” Cat said watching as they seamed to talk to the others guarding her street.

Her father came over and put his tan hands on her shoulders. “Come away from the window.” He said pulling her away and forcing her to sit on the couch. He looked at his 19 year-old daughter and smiled. Really she was everything they had ever hoped to have in a child but for some reason he had a bad feeling that he might not see her again after tonight. Of course these creatures that call them selves the Daleks seamed to like killing just for the fun of it. They listened in horror as one by one they called out the residents of each house until they heard the one thing they didn’t wanted to hear.

“Residents of house 515 please step out side to be scanned.” Came the slightly mechanical voice of their captures this caused her mother to jump. “Comply or be destroyed.”

“Lets go.” Her father said ushering his wife and daughter out the door. They lined up on the side walk in front of there house as the green tinged Dalek floated before her father.

“Male dose not match the rumors.” It said before moving in front of her mother and actually scanning her with a light beam. “Not this one either.”

Cat shifted slightly as the thing came to a stop in front of her. For some reason she had to fight down the erg to run something about them not only repulsed her but brought up rage she had never felt before. The light scanned her head to toe twice causing her to wince wondering what they were looking for. “It is her! Seize Her!” Cat was confused but she was surrounded before she could even react and those laser arms pointing at her.

“You can’t have her.” Her father screamed trying to fight his way to her. They were turning to kill him she had to do something or else her father was dead.

“Stop.” She put as much authority as she could in her voice and was amazed everyone listened. “Dad mom needs you so don’t get your self killed. If I go with you with out a struggle but only if you’ll leave my parents alone.”

“Agreed.” The green one said motioning her forward with it’s arm. She nodded and did as she was told as it wasn’t like she had much choice. Either do as they want, or watch your family die and do it anyhow. All of a sudden there was a whooshing sound and she was standing in an all metal enclosure that had to be their space ship. A spot light surrounded her and she found out she couldn’t move from out of it’s confines. “She is the one that can be genetically altered to be the perfect weapon against our enemy.”

Cat rubbed her rams wondering if they were going to kill her to make this weapon. Suddenly the ship shuddered and alarms went off. This caused the two Daleks to floated off right before the light around her went out. The sudden knowledge that the ship was going to blow up flooded through her and for a split second she felt sorry for the Daleks as she knew who ever they were facing was going to be their demise. Her hand sought out her pendent on its own and she suddenly knew where the one escape pod that could handle human life was and how to eject it. There was a sinking feeling telling her if she didn’t get out now she would die here. Right as she entered the pod she saw the green Dalek coming back and focused on her. Hitting the eject button she watched in horror as the Daleks, three to be exact, followed her out as they didn’t need a pod to enter deep space. Out of the corner of her eye she saw what looked like a blue box right before there was an explosion. Her head hit something hard and she was knocked out.

Jenny had been sitting on a hill side looking out over the blood red grass of this planet when she saw the escape pod enter in and crash causing her to wince. Maybe it was the fact that she was her father’s child but she smiled at this. “Finely it was starting to get boring.” She said to her self skipping down the hill to investigate the wreckage. Throwing open the door she was greeted by a human looking woman with mousy brown long hair that was doing a good impression of medusa and a big gash on her head.

“Well lets get you out of this thing.” She said pulling the girl out as best she could. Just because one was engineered to be stronger and a better fighter did not make it easier to haul a limb body out side a small space. After dragging the woman a good distance away from the wreck she sat down and panted watching the girl incase she did something drastic.

“They are after me.” Cat said hoarsely as she slowly regain conciseness. She sat up quickly causing her head to spin roughly and nausea to build.

“Whoa there. Take it easy. You have a nasty bump on your head. Who ever is after you can wait a bit.” Jenny said looking her in the eyes.

“They took me from my home and wanted to make me into this weapon. When I escaped I saw them following me right before the ship exploded.” Cat explained though part of her mind was trying to convince her self this was just some crazy dream.

“So they want to make you a weapon?” Jenny asked to be sure she got it right. When Cat nodded she smiled. “Well that’s all I needed to now let’s get you to my peace of junk ship and get you out of here. They’ll probably be following closely behind you.”

“I thank you for your help but I don’t want to endanger you.” Cat said even as the blonde girl pulled her to her feet.

“Nonsense. It’s in my blood to gravitate to danger and having been made to be a solider myself with out much of a choice I have to help.” Jenny said dragging the girl along behind her. “By the way names Jenny.”

“Catherine but everyone calls me Cat.” She stated as they ran as best as Cat could to the ship and into it.

“Well this is my ship. Nothing impressive just what I could appropriate. Let’s get that head bandaged and get out of here.” Jenny said grabbing a first aid kit and wishing she could acquire some Nanos. She quickly put a bandage on her new friends head. “So where are you from?”

“Earth.” Cat said looking around in wonder.

“Really because you seam sort of new to the whole space and aliens thing to be from Earth.” Jenny said as she booted up the computers on her old hunk of junk.

“Yha well before the Daleks showed up I was blissfully unaware of aliens.” Cat said with a sigh.

“What? Wait when are you from?” At Cat’s blank stare she groaned. “What year is it for you?”

“Oh 2008 what year is it for you?” Cat asked.

“Closer to 6067 I think. Never good with time. Not my thing.. well it is but never got the chance to learn. Anyhow let’s get moving.” She said pushing some buttons. “There are some guns in the over head compartment to your right and several power packs incase we hit trouble.”

Cat pulled down the guns and wrinkled her nose. She had never liked guns, Swords or Bow & Arrows yes guns no. “Umm I hate guns.” She whispered.

“Fine I’ll shoot you load.” Jenny said a seconds before the intruder alarm sounded. “Great looks like we didn’t move our Ares fast enough your friends found us. Come on lets give them a proper greeting.” She said throwing a bag at Cat who quickly filled it with power packs While Jenny grabbed several guns and ran down the bulk heads.

Blast filled the air as the two women hid behind a box. They had been fighting for almost an hour now and were finely trapped with no where else to run on this ship. Cat reloaded one power pack as Jenny emptied another at the Daleks. “Damn it why wont these things die?” Jenny hissed throwing the empty gun at Cat as she threw back the loaded one. “In the Bag is a distress beckon. Well were distressed, push it.”

Cat sent a silent prayer to what ever powers that be that who ever got their call could help them. She pushed it threw it back in the bag and loaded the empty gun. Turning she watched the Daleks advance and share another volley of fire with Jenny the noise was so load you couldn’t hear anything else. When she once again put her back to the box she was hiding behind she was startled to see a tall blue box standing there where she was sure there had been nothing before. “Jenny was that there or am I losing it?”

Jenny turned to look and sighed. “Who cares there advancing and it’s shelter get in.” She said staying low and dragging Cat along as the darted toward the box. As soon as Jenny touched the door opened and she pushed Cat in sending a series of blast toward the enemy before darting in and almost shutting the door so she could still see out. “New gun.” She said tossing the empty one at cat who caught it and threw the loaded one back.

“You know barging into someone’s home is considered rude.” The Doctor said just a little amused by the girls using his door as a blockade against what ever they were fighting.

“Eep!” Cat said dropping the power cartridge she was working on. This caused Jenny to look at the owner of the new voice.

“Dad!” She said dropping the gun and jumping up to give him a hug which seamed to leave him stunned. “You were so right helping people and running there brilliant.”

“Jenny I thought you were dead.” He said a little flabbergasted.

“Yhe well the whole planet seeding thing sort of gave me life.” Jenny said shrugging it off as if it was nothing. “At lest that is what I think happened. Anyhow.”

“The TARDIS, it’s our enemy.” The Daleks voice cut through their happy reunion. “Exterminate. The girl is in the doctor’s hands Exterminate!”

“They want to use her as a weapon against someone or something.” Jenny In formed him running back to the door. He looked at the other girl again with her wild brown waist length hair and brown eyes. She was looking at the door like she was debating something and he was afraid he knew what it was.

“Look I’ve gotten you in enough trouble Jenny and I thank you for helping me but I should just go with them. I mean my life isn’t that important in the scheme of things.” Cat said edging toward the door as she had taken a step forward before and was no longer next to the door.

“Jenny, quick close the door and don’t let her do something stupid. I’ll get us out of here.” The Doctor said storming to the counsel as Jenny put her self between Cat and the door.

The familiar whirling sound that was unique to the TARDIS filled the air and there was a shudder that soothed the Doctor as he glanced at his two new companies. Not that he wanted companies he had actually been thinking of going alone after losing both Rose and Donna this time. It seamed everyone he touched was made worse by it in some way. Though at lest Rose was happy with his human self.

“So Dad where is Donna?” Jenny asked snapping him out of his thought.

“Oh she’s home with her family. Very happy when I left almost as if she didn’t even know me.” He said with a really big grin trying to hide the pain he felt. Jenny wasn’t fooled but she didn’t push the issue.

“So why do you think your worst enemy is after my new friend?” Jenny said steering a reluctant Cat toward the Doctor.

“Well let’s find out. Shall we?” He said rubbing his hands together like a kid in a candy store. He liked nothing better then a good puzzle. He pushed some buttons and scanned her.

“Ugg not more lights going over my body.” She groaned causing the Doctor to raise an eyebrow.

“Well she is a normal human as far as DNA is concerned.” He said with a frown before clicking another button and scanning her again. “Wow now that is interesting.”

“What is?” Two female voices asked at the same time before they looked at each other and giggled.

“Well humans, no offence but, humans are relatively simple when it comes to brain patterns and the size of their souls.” The doctor started to explain.

“Wow that thing can see souls. I mean I thought that was a spiritual thing.” Cat said suddenly ducking under his arm to look at the screen. His look of shock at someone doing that to him made Jenny laugh.

“Well, the soul is actually like an energized force field that exists in everything. Not as simple as some humans religions say it is. Wait, what time are you from?” The Doctor asked stepping away from the screen to get back some of his personal space that she had stolen trying to look at what he was. No one had done that to him since Rose and it was quiet annoying.

“2008, earth.” Cat said looking at the screen. “The Daleks were all over the place and this one in green came down our street. One by one they scanned everyone in each house until they came to ours. They skipped over dad saying something about him being male and not what the rumors said. It then scanned my mom and quickly turned to me. I was scanned twice before they took me away. I was taken to their ship and scanned some more before all the lights and sirens went on. I escaped some how and when there ship blew up I was thrown around and lost concussions.” Cat filled in as bent over looking at the screen closer.

“Fantastic!” The Doctor shouted causing her to jump. “You see your energy field is off the charts I mean even higher then most time lords.” She shot him a questioning look. “Oh I’m The Doctor and I’m a time lord last of my kind.” Jenny cleared her throat. “Oh yes she’s a time lord too so I guess I’m not really the last oh my kind anymore.” He said suddenly turning and grabbing Jenny’s hands and spinning her around real quick.

“You have the attention span of a four year-old.” Cat commented causing him to stop and look at her again his eyes then darted to the ceiling and moved back and forth as if going over his life quickly.

“Yes pretty much.” He then jumped in place and smiled. “Any way not only is your soul or energy force gigantic but your brain patterns are massive as well.”

“What like a genius? I can’t be I almost didn’t pass any of my class and have no future ambition to go to collage or anything.” Cat said though she couldn’t happen but smile as he danced around the center pillar and console thingy all hyper like. “Are you ADHD?”

“Ummm no to the ADHA thing, just excited. You see my dear, you are unique to the point that you might be the next step in human evolution.” All of a sudden he frowned. “But humans don’t evolve at lest not in the way you have. I’ve been to the end and there relatively the same. So you either don’t pass on these abilities to your children or something happens to you before you can. Because if you were to pass this on it would bring humans up to just below Time Lord Status or equal.”

“Great so I’m never going to have kids.” Cat mumbled.

“No, no it just doesn’t make sense. I mean they could engineer you or even breed you to be a stopping force to me but if one human can make the jump then so could others.” He started pacing and Cat sent Jenny a look. “There is something missing.”

“Okay let’s take this a step at a time. If Cat has higher Brain waves how come she is not smarter?” Jenny asked.

“The same reason you’re not like me. She was never taught or stimulated right and you have never looked into the vortex.” The Doctor said then his eyes flashed. “That is it why the TARDIS brought me back to you. I need to teach both of you and there by solve the mystery. We also need to keep Cat from the Daleks.”

“Is he insane?” Cat whispered in Jenny’s ear.

“Totally isn’t it great.” Jenny said back with a wide smile.

“I can hear you two.” He said with a pout. “Anyhow Bedrooms, Kitchen, and anything else the TARDIS wants to throw at you is down the hall go pick out rooms while I decided where to take you two to start your teaching.”

Jenny shrugged at Cat who did the same back and they both turned and headed down the hall. As they went by doors one had the name Jack on the door another had Doctor on it. Jenny opened a door and gasped. Though she knew guns weren’t always the answer she still had a thing for them so when she opened a door to find a room filled with guns through out the ages and species with a big four poster bed done in black she smiled. “This is so mine.”

“Yha, that would be why it has your name on the door.” Cat said pointing to the plague.

“So it’s a smart ship. That is great; we’ll make friends with it and have an alley if Dad gets too big for his britches.” Jenny said causing Cat to start laughing. “What?”

“Nothing I just highly doubt his ship is going to be on our side.” Cat said before turning and going to a door where her name was printed. Upon opening it she was shocked by the lack of adornment. There was a huge fire place with a giant mantel, tones of shelving and another large bed, as well as two over stuffed arm chairs in front of the fire place. But there was nothing on the shelves or tables or anywhere else.

“Ahhh I have another shopper and collector on my hands I see.” The Doctor said peering into the room over her shoulder. This caused shiver to go down Cat’s spine but she bit her lip to keep from showing it. “Don’t worry the TARDIS is never wrong about people.”

“You sure?” She said almost in awe. “Maybe she is trying to tell you that I’m bad news and to dump me off at the nearest port.”

“If she thought that she’d just dump you randomly in space.” He told her flatly and watched as she went pale. “Oh but don’t worry, she hasn’t done that… Yet.”

“So comforting you are.” She hissed.

“Anyhow how about the Crystal Caverns of New New Tokyo?” He asked clapping he hands together and rubbing them with a smile.

“You are so a little boy in a man’s body.” Cat said eyeing him though she couldn’t help but smile as his was kind of infectious.

“But it’s brilliant. The whole planet is one big city made entirely out of carved crystals. The caves that run underneath the city are something that no one should miss. Oh and the food is to die for and the culture.” He stated with a groan of happiness before heading back to the area Cat had dubbed the bridge in her mind.

“He’s like a walking brochure.” Cat said staring after him.

“Well, are you two coming?” He asked looking back through the door at Cat who had been joined by Jenny. He suddenly stepped back through the door and was staring at the wall. “What is this?”

“Looks like a sign labeling this the bridge.” Jenny said.

“I can see that.” He said. “What I meant is why is, it, here. I have never felt the need to label her rooms and I certainly wouldn’t call this the bridge. To Treky.”

“Funny that is what I called it in my head a moment ago.” Cat said softly which only earned her more scanning with lights. “Quit that!” She finely snapped at him.

“Brilliant!” He exclaimed again before turning back to the counsel this time the girls followed him.

“Okay so that is your favorite word I get that mind telling me what is so ‘Brilliant’ this time?” Cat said glaring at him as he pushed buttons.

“The TARDIS likes you. It’s never going to be dull with you around.” He said giving a knob a twirl.

“So I take it you like excitement.” Cat said almost laughing.

“And running. He loves to run. Told me he dose it almost every where he goes.” Jenny said plopping down in a chair. “I like running.”

“It’s not so much I like running I just do a lot of it.” He explained but at their looks of disbelief he sighed. “Your right it’s fun.” There was a slight shudder as the TARDIS settled and The Doctor was smiling again. “Well come on lets go see what is out side.”

Jenny grabbed Cat’s arm and the both headed to the door. Upon opening it their eyes got assaulted by bright colors and light as the suns reflected off the crystal buildings. “It’s lovely.” Cat said letting go of Jenny’s arm and dancing around before she spotted a shopping stall and dragged Jenny with her. The Doctor strolled behind them smiling as he watched them.

“Are they speaking English? I mean shouldn’t they be speaking there own language?” Jenny asked as she heard one man selling fish.

“They are the TARDIS is translating for us.” Cat said with out thinking getting another look from the Doctor.

“She is right you know.” He said as Jenny looked at him for confirmation. A smirk crossed his face when he saw Cat examining a vendors Collection of crystal souvenirs. “Told you, you’re another collector, the TARDIS is never wrong… well almost never wrong.” He reached into the pocket of his coat and pulled out a metal chip. He gave it a once over making sure it was the item he was looking for and hand it to her. “Money buy what you want just don’t go over board.” She hugged him in thanks causing him to hug her back and smile. Really he never got over human women hugging in gratitude and they all did it.

“Thank you.” She said as she paid the guy for the little statue she had been examining. “Come on Jenny Lets go get some Kimonos I always wanted one.”

“Nah you don’t want one from here. All commercialized no real art to it. We’ll stop off in feudal Japan and get you one. There is a silk spinner in Endo that makes gorgeous stuff.” He said with a smile and noticed her expression of aw. “What I said I can take you guys any Where I meant it. Now come on I want to get on the cave tour.” He grabbed her and Jenny’s hand and started dragging them along.

They were forced to run to keep up with him until he skidded to a stop in front of a lady closing up a gate on a building labeled ‘cave tours’. With a smile and a look around he flashed a blank peace of paper at the women. “John Smith, intergalactic Safety commission, Cave department. This is Jenny Smith my daughter and Catharine Jones my sectary. Were her to going the final tour of the day.”

“Of course Sir.” She said a bit nervously as she reopened the half way closed gate and ushered them in. “The Caves as you probably already know crisscross the entire planet but only a small portion are open to public tourism. The Tour is automated you just sit in your hover carts and enjoy the ride.” She said motioning them to sit in the Shuttle. It had three seats lined up in a row with a safety bar that came across there laps. “Drinks and snacks are available on request from the main consul. There are a total of ten sparkers so you can hear the entire tour to it’s full extent.” Jenny climbed in first followed Cat with the Doctor taking the end seat. Making a pretty Cat sandwich. “In case of emergencies the safety release is hear on the right and the call button is the red one on the consol. Please have a nice experience.”

“Oh we will thank you.” The Doctor said with a smile earning him one in return.

As the shuttle started moving Jenny leaned over Cat to talk to her father. “You dad are a flirt.”

As Jenny had once again sat back the Doctor had to lean over cat to responded causing her to lean back as far as she could and raising her arms to get out of his way. “I am not a flirt. I am just a happy person that smiles a lot.” He leaned back so Cat could once again breath but her reprise was short lived as Jenny was once again leaning across her.

“Yha you just happen to make eye more often and smile brighter when it’s a pretty woman. Admit it you a flirt.” She said sitting back once again.

It was his turn to lean over poor Cat. “I do not flirt. You do. Need I remind you of the solider you kissed with out even really knowing his name?” He sat back triumphantly as if he just won an argument.

“Hey I got us out of that jail didn’t I. Even you fancy light up screw driver wasn’t helping was it?” Jenny shot back.

“Jenny would you like to trade me seats so you can argue with you father better?” Cat asked.

“No.” Both Jenny and the Doctor said at once sending slight glares at each other over Cat though neither was really mad. When Cat noticed head phone like things hanging in front of her she quickly slipped them on to listen to the tour with out hearing the Doctor and Jenny argue.

Cat listened to the history of the planet as she let her eyes scan the beautiful scenery. “It was extremely rare to find a planet with no life forms that was in habitable the founders of New New Tokyo were wisely quick to lay claim. They saw the potential of the glorious planet and quickly sent about building the great city you see on the surface. Three years after starting the great war halted all construction for 10 years. But once we were victories construction began again at a faster rate.” Cat took the head phones off with a frown.

“Ummm Doctor if there was no life forms on this planet who did they fight with for 10 years?” She asked causing the Doctor to frown. You could see the wheels in his head start turning as he tried to remember who it was.
