What starts in honety can only end in Blood
Mohinder arrived home in the dead of night. So tired, both mentally and physically, he can barely stand but somehow he staggers as quietly as he can to Molly’s bedroom to make sure she is asleep. She looks so sweet and peaceful, one of the brief moments where she gets to be a little girl. No mystical powers, no murdered parents, no weight of the world or life and death choices. Just sleep, undisturbed by the nightmares that Matt had told Mohinder were getting worse. He frowns, a stab of something akin to guilt at the fact he had been away so long. Almost two weeks, which was four days longer than he had promised Molly, and two days longer than when the mission was completed to both the Company and Noah Bennett’s satisfaction. Mohinder just wished he could have done more for the kid…
Mohinder shook the morbid thoughts away as he kissed Molly’s forehead and pulled her bedroom door to. He found himself in the kitchen, where he removed his coat and placed it over the back of a chair. The dishes were still in the skin, and despite the fact that they clearly had the remains of pizza on the Mohinder couldn’t help but be glad that Matt had at least used dishes, and an empty glass of what Mohinder assumed had been milk stood on the side. Sighing, Mohinder ran the water and started washing up, leaving it to dry when he had finished. He found the box of the pizza delivery and placed it in the garbage bin, wiping down the surfaced with a sponge. When he had finished it was close to three am and Mohinder felt more refreshed now then when he had arrived. But still, Matt’s voice started him enough to leave him gasping for breath.
“Were you with him?”
“Dear God, Matt! You almost gave me a heart attack.” Mohinder said, not having registered the question.
Matt stood in the doorway the led to the sitting room, a glare on his face and his arms folded. He was definitely doing the ‘bad cop’ impression right now. This made Mohinder take notice of his friend and fellow caretaker of Molly Walker.
“I asked you a question, Mohinder.” Matt reminded him.
Mohinder shrugged, an uneasy feeling creeping up on him. “I did not hear you.”
“Where. You. With. Him?” Matt repeated slowly, annunciating each word carefully as if talking to an idiot child. At Mohinder’s carefully blank look, Matt elaborated. “Was it good? Was it worth it? I mean, what the fuck were you thinking, Mohinder! Molly is nine years old, a scared, orphaned little nine year old girl who loves you and trusts you and this is how you betray her?”
“What are you talking about, Matt?” Mohinder asked, a cold feeling seeping through his bones and into his heart.
“Sylar, you. Getting biblical.” Mohinder nearly collapsed right then, from shock and shame. “You didn’t really think I believed that your plane was delayed? Not with the weather so good. That and the fact that last time you used that excuse, the Company called three hours later trying to find you, asking why you hadn’t landed and why your cell phone was off.”
Mohinder’s head fell into his hands as he sunk down on the kitchen floor.
“I don’t understand it… You hate him, you are supposed to hate him! He killed your father, he killed Molly’s parents… and he’s done so much worse. And he’s just going to continue to do worse until someone ends him for good.” Matt wanted to get a reaction out of Mohinder, when he saw that Mohinder didn’t seem to care about any of these facts – at least from Matt’s perspective – he brought out the big guns. “You can’t be near Molly if you continue this. Fucking Sylar… you disgust me and I don’t want you near her because it would break her. She loves you so much.”
Mohinder looked up, aghast at Matt’s words. “No… please, Matt. You do not understand. ?this isn’t what I wanted but… it’s hard to explain…”
“Then try!” Matt yelled back at him, forgetting that Molly was asleep two doors away.
Mohinder looked him dead in the eyes. “Matt… the truth would break you.”
