A swish of clothes.
A smile in the dark.
It had taken ages. Finding out when, checking it triple, waiting until the time was right.
And now trying to sneak in without alarms being sound. He'd rather not get shot, thank you.
Of course even if this went off without a hitch there was still a chance he'd get shot.
A floorboard creaked and he winced.
The heavy backpack and the not quite lightweight box in his arms were both making him off balance, and he really needed it here. Since the floor was better than an alarm system.
Stupid old creaky houses.
But it seemed the danger had passed for now. So he struggled on.
The stairs took longer than he had wanted them to, but when he was finally at the top it seemed worth it.
The short sneak from the top of the stairs to the door he wanted seemed to go too fast on the other hand.
It seemed incredible that he had gotten this far. Incredible and a bit scary.
Luckily the door didn't creak, and the sole occupant in the room hadn't stirred when he entered.
The smug grin was back as he slowly got closer.
A short distance from his target had him stopping and putting the box silently down. He wanted something in the backpack before hell broke loose.
His hand found his object of desire, and he could almost taste the sweet nectar of victory...
"DiNozzo! What are you doing?!"
Shit.
"Uhm, happy birthday?"
Gibbs glare intensified.
Double shit.
