Sweet Redemption

Manny padded towards Elizabeth on the docks. It had been a week since he had tried to take her out of the hospital. He could have killed Lucky but refrained when he saw Elizabeth's tears.

He had been told in no uncertain terms that he must kidnap Nurse Spencer and take her out of Port Charles. If he did not he knew she and her child would be killed. He saw her holding the hand of Cameron her toddler and as he fingered the rope in his muscular hands he knew this would be hard for all involved. All Elizabeth felt was a hand come around her throat and a quit voice whisper for her to be still. She kept a hold of Cameron's hand even as she was terrified.

She heard the voice say "be still Elizabeth and your son will be safe." She stilled as he reached for her purse and after turning her phone off through it in the water. He kept one muscular hand around her throat as he did this. He told her to tell Cameron to be still and quiet.

Elizabeth would have fought Manny but she was afraid for Cameron. She nodded terrified he would kill Cameron if she did not do what he wanted.

She soothed Cameron telling him everything would be fine. Cameron kept tight hold of his mothers hand sensing something was really wrong. Manny told her to to walk slowly towards the end of the pier where his men waited. Elizabeth walked along as Manny followed behind her. She picked Cameron up not wanting to loose him.

They walked to the end of the Pier and their was a boat all ready to go. Manny told her to put Cameron in the boat and then get in herself. He told her he knew the only reason she was cooperating was because of the child. Manny grinned at her and said "Princess its just you and me now we have to trust each other"

Elizabeth put Cameron in the boat and then carefully stepped in behind him. Cameron just stared at her his little eyes wide as if he did not know what to do and his little lips quivered but he did not cry. Manny watched as Elizabeth quickly soothed the child showing how very maternal she really was.

Manny told Elizabeth to take Cameron in to the little cabin. She did so without looking back. He followed her and his men quickly cast off. Soon the boat was heading for open water away from Port Charles. The cabin was completely closed in and no one could see that their was a woman and a child inside.

Elizabeth walked in the Cabin and found it very warm. Manny followed quickly behind her and shut the door and asked her to sit down. She quickly sat at the Galley table still holding her Son's hand as the boat took off down the lake away from the piers and where they had just been.

Manny watched as she looked around. Cameron stared at Manny shyly trying to figure out who this man was. Manny stared back at Cameron and the two assessed each other. The boat gave a lurch and Cameron fell forward and Elizabeth watched in horror as her son fell in to Manny's lap. Manny had sat down and was facing them and now he looked down at the little child who lay stunned in his lap.

Cameron was not hurt as Manny had cushioned the blow. Manny put his arms around Cameron and pulled him up. Cameron's lips quivered but he was not a child to cry at every little thing. He looked straight in to Manny's eyes as they where practically eyeball to eyeball.

Cameron studied the older muscular mans face searching for something. Cameron was very wise beyond his years and he had always been sensitive to other people. Elizabeth attributed this to Zander as Cameron had his Fathers eyes and quiet ways about him.

Cameron reached up a little hand and touched Manny's face patting him and finally said “I'm wok”. Elizabeth was in a work freaking out. She had no idea what Manny would do to Cameron or how he would react if Cameron cried.

She watched as all this unfolded in a matter of a few seconds. She saw Cameron's wise eyes searching Manny's face. She also was surprised to see Manny who instead of roughly handling Cameron was actually holding him gently preventing him from being hurt. She saw a flash go through Manny's face as he and Cameron looked at each other as only males do.

Finally Manny moved and let Cameron run back to his Mother. Elizabeth held her child rocking him checking him out even as he squirmed but at the same time happy to be with his mother. Manny had actually not scared him for Cameron felt instinctively that Manny meant he and his mother no harm.

Elizabeth looked up at Manny and her eyes narrowed and her voice came out strong. She was the mother lioness as her words came out through gritted teeth. “Leave my child alone”

Manny grinned appreciating how protective she was of her child. He smiled and said “Relax the boy is unharmed Princess”. Cameron looked at him as if to say don't hurt my mom.

One of the men came to the door of the cabin and knocked on it. Manny moved and answered the door. He told his men to bring the boat in and they would be leaving shortly. He turned to Elizabeth and Cameron and said it is time for us to go.

Manny came back and was holding some clothes in his hands. He looked at Elizabeth and his voice was quiet and flat and his eyes where cold as he said put this on. It was not a request but a demand. He told her she had exactly two minutes to put the new clothes on or he would dress her himself. He made it clear that he would not mind helping her dress. He turned and stood facing the door giving her some privacy.

Elizabeth knew she had no choice as she did not want him helping her. She quickly put the long peasant type skirt on over her pants. She then took the pants off and then grabbed the white peasant blouse and shed her shirt then put it on quickly. She took her shoes off and put on the flat sandals provided.

Manny turned around and smiled seeing she was dressed. Through all this Cameron just sat and resolutely stared at both of them not sure what was really going on. Manny turned flexing his muscles holding a scarf in his hands.

He then moved behind her and he gently moved her hair touching her as she flinched a little. He touched her carefully putting the wrap in her hair. He spoke to her and said “Princess you have beautiful hair”. He sighed as he made sure not to hurt her and her hair was now wrapped in a simple peasant scarf. He then handed her a shawl and told her to place it around and clasp it on. She did and he nodded satisfied. She was confused at how gentle he was when he placed the scarf on her head.

Elizabeth picked Cameron up and he smiled and said no Princess. He made a tut tuting noise and told her to sit back down.

He approached them and before Elizabeth could react he had taken a cloth out and put it to her nose and mouth. As she collapsed her last words where “Don't hurt my son”. Cameron stared solomly at his mother and then looked accusingly at Manny.

Manny got the distinct impression that if Cameron was any older he would have tried to kill him. Cameron moved closer to his mother and he felt her breathe come out as she was just knocked out. Cameron just looked at Manny like you better not do that again.

Cameron looked at Manny his eyes narrowed as the little dude refused to let go of his mothers hand. Manny looked down at both of them and found Cameron searching his eyes again. Manny thought ideally that even at four years old Cameron had the eyes of a killer. He felt Cameron taking it all in absorbing what was going on. He had a feeling that Cameron was waiting like a poker player to see how it would all play out and then make his play if not now but wait even years.

Manny sat down back on his heels next to Cameron who was sitting next to his mom cradling her head in his little lap. He looked at Cameron and decided he needed to say something. His eyes looked at Elizabeth who was passed out and he told Cameron something as the little dude looked at him.

He told him that a bad man was after his mom and that Manny was trying to protect her. Cameron studied him for a long time. Manny knew the four year old grasped what Manny said and was just trying to determine if Manny was the bad man or was it someone else.

His eyes where Solomon as Cameron finally looked at Manny and down at his mom and like any good poker player waited again to see how it unfolded. Their was a warning in Cameron's eyes as he said “key”. He might have sounded and spoke like a four year old. But Manny knew that if this played out any other way then Elizabeth being safe that some day Cameron would find him and hurt him or even kill him.
