Anthony DiNozzo hated Valentines Day. He had always thought that it was a mindless holiday that made every girl/woman/female on the planet desperate for a date on that particular day. They would flit and flaunt and do anything to catch the eye of their intended prey. Too many times Tony had been at the mercy of some crazed woman on Valentines so it left a bitter taste in his mouth. So anyone knowing this would understand why he stopped dead when he saw the beautiful roses.
There was a certain mystery about the flowers sitting on his desk they were bright red and surrounded by babies breath. The dozen roses were placed in a vase which was wrapped with a red ribbon, sitting on a stack of papers that probably needed his attention. Kate at her desk was smirking at him, he had at first thought they were from her, but then again roses wouldn’t be what she would have given him.
The whole mystery was who had bought him roses for Valentines Day? For it was indeed February 14th. He plucked the card from the plastic holder and opened the tiny envelope marked only by his name. The card had been printed out with a message from the florist, so he couldn’t match handwriting. And likely the only fingerprints on it were from the florist and now his own.
Seeing his face Kate laughed and he shot her a glare. Oh she knew who sent them, she had to know, otherwise she would be trying to see which girl had been daring enough to send him flowers. He picked the vase up and set them behind his desk, it would be better if they were off his working space when Gibbs walked in. The table behind his desk received the pretty arrangement with a soft clink from the glass.
As he was turning around Leroy Jethro Gibbs walked passed his desk, Tony was waiting for a slap upside the head, a comment or at least something to do with the roses nothing came his way. He watched as Gibbs took his seat and took a long drag from his coffee cup. “Morning Boss.” Tony called across the space.
“Isn’t there something you need to be doing DiNozzo?”
He looked around and realized that Gibbs was talking about the papers on his desk. He smiled and reprimanded himself. Just because he was head over heels for his boss, and today was Valentines Day didn’t mean that he should forget the rules Gibbs had set down, nor should he forget his own.
1. Never stare deeply into Gibbs’ eyes.
2. Keep it professional.
3. Never let anyone know.
They may not have been as elaborate or as concrete as the one enforced by Gibbs but they worked for Tony. However number 3 had been shot to hell when Abby had cornered him in autopsy. He would have told her anything just to be let out of the body drawer. How she had gotten him in there in the first place had been embarrassing to say the least. She had claimed that her earring had fallen off and jammed the slab wheels and could he please help her out and see if he could pull it out. So in he went and slam went the door.
He shook his head at the thought and was about to start working on his paperwork when Gibbs said “Grab your gear.” He looked up and caught the keys that had been tossed at him.
“On your six boss.”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
It had been an exhausting day, however; he couldn’t just go home now, he needed to get to that paperwork he had forgotten about earlier. Tony sat back down at his desk with one quick glance at the flowers set behind him. He opened the manila folder and looked at the first sheet of paper. The paper work took him two hours to complete, and he was the last one of the team to leave. He packed his things grabbed the roses and head for home.
His apartment was dark, just as he had left it that morning. He flipped the switch and the living room light came on. While others would joke that his place was a mess, Tony actually took good care of this things and made sure everything was always clean. He could always tell if something had been out of place, and there was a red envelope in the center of his coffee table which had not been there earlier. On the envelope was nothing but his name.
A little weary he opened the card and smiled. The card had a picture from when Harry met Sally and written on it was “YES YES YES!!!” He smiled and opened the card of course the “I’ll have what she’s having.” was placed within. Whoever left the card knew him well. Written clearly under the printed words was “Turn around.”
Almost terrified he turned; there standing behind him was Gibbs. “Happy Valentines Day Tony.” He strolled forward and placed a kiss on the Italians lips. Tony smiled after they broke the kiss off. Tony believed he liked Valentines after all.
A/N: Ok just had a bad ending to my Valentines day so I decided to write something here. I hope you like it, Happy Valentines Day everybody. Oh and if this sucks that because it’s my first NCIS fic. I am still pretty new to the fandom.
