Note: This is the first Time i have posted a J/C story here so if something sounds off or two cliche please let me know and I will fix it. Ooh and please be nice again first time posting here for ST: VOY.
Kathryn and Chakotay were on another planet looking for food stores to replace the ones they had lost in yet another battle with some unknown alien race. Tuvok had insisted that she stay on Voyager but she waved away his concerns and come down here anyway. Again they had another fight and were avoiding each other like they had a plague. Now here they were looking for food and not speaking except when one of them found something that was edible.
Kathryn looked at her tricoder again and noticed that it had picked up a heat signature coming at her. She turned to look for Chakotay but he was no where to be seen.
"Great." Kathryn said to herself when she heard rustling behind her. "I must be trapped in one of Tom's bad horror holonovels."
Kathryn continued to walk but she kept a close eye on that heat signature but she became increasingly uneasy in the silence. Tapping her comm badge Kathryn said, "Janeway to Chakotay."
"Chakotay here, is something wrong Captain?"
"I just wanted... to talk. The silence is deafening and I'm getting a little scared over here. Not to mention that i feel like I'm trapped in a bad horror holonovel." She heard him chuckle and thought that maybe they were taking a step in the right direction.
"There isn't much we can talk about now." The comm was still open and Chakotay was at a loss for words. Things between him and Kathryn hadn't been so great and he wasn't sure how to act around her. he couldn't even remember what had started yet another one of their fights, which they seemed to do more and more lately.
"Chakotay say something... please." Kathryn asked over the comm channel.
"What do you want me to say." For a stretch of silence that made him uncomfortable enough to ask, "Is something wrong?"
"Something is following me and I haven't..." Her sentence trailed off and Chakotay stopped moving.
"Have you caught a glimpse of it yet?" Chakotay asked absentmindedly
"Wait... i saw a flash of something." Then Chakotay heard a blood curdling scream from over his open comm and it chilled his blood. "CHAKOTAY!"
"NO!" he shouted and took off running for her position. All he could think of was getting to her and hoping that he wasn't to late.
When he got there Chakotay looked like he was about to be sick. Kathryn was covered in her own blood. "Kathryn, no!" Chakotay ran to her and gathered her close effectively getting her blood on his uniform. She moaned in pain making Chakotay lay her back on the ground.
Looking over her he saw shallow claw marks on her neck and on her right shoulder. Deep puncture wounds marred her left side and another set of scratch marks kept bleeding on the inside of her right thigh.
"Chakotay to Voyager, the Captain has been injured. Send help immediately!" He forced his voice to be calm and detached when he felt sick and guilty inside. If had only stayed by her side she would be fine.
"Commander?" Harry's voice came over the comm.
"Now Harry!"
"It will take some time the transporters are down. We would have to send a shuttle."
"Just hurry." Chakotay whispered then closed the comm so he could tend to Kathryn's wounds.
Chakotay shucked his uniform jacket and tore the sleeves off of it. With one sleeve he wrapped it gently against the wound on Kathryn's neck pressing gently to get the sticky blood to coagulate. His other sleeve went on her shoulder. When he tied it off Janeway yelped from the pain.
"I'm sorry but I have to stop the bleeding." Chakotay said.
"I know." Kathryn replied but her words sounded weak as she tried to get them out through the pain.
With the rest of his uniform jacket Chakotay wrapped it around her side in an effort to quell the blood loss. The blood was soaking through at an alarming rate making him applying more pressure and causing her more pain. Chakotay had to remove his turtle neck so he could stop the bleeding on her thigh. Bringing her back into the safety of his body Chakotay was mindful of her injuries and tried to keep her warm until help arrived.
"Cha..ko..tay." The pain in her voice cause her to break up his name in an effort to speak.
"Shh shh. hold still. You're badly injured."
"I wanna sleep." She sounded so tired to his ears but he couldn't let her close her eyes. He did the one thing that he vowed he would never do, Chakotay pressed his fingers into the wound at her side making her scream in pain.
"You have to stay awake. Don't you dare leave me." Chakotay demanded.
"I never left you." Her voice was barely above a whisper but he heard her as if she had shouted. Chakotay ran his hand down the side of her face making her look at him through pain filled eyes.
She laughed out harshly and said, "I can't believe that I'm going to die on some planet." She gasped and clutched at Chakotay's arm.
"You are not going to die." Chakotay said sternly.
"I want you to..." She started to say but Chakotay cut her off.
"Stop, just stop. You are not going to die I forbid it. I need you too much." he whispered the last line into her ear.
"COMMANDER!"
"Over here!" Chakotay shouted back.
"I'm so tired. Kathryn said.
"Help is here." Chakotay pulled her into his arms and rose to meet the others when the appeared in the clearing.
Tuvok and B'Elanna moved over to the Chakotay's side. "Do you require assistance Commander?" Tuvok's calm Vulcan voice asked.
"No." was the only thing that Chakotay said moving off with the injured Captain in his arms.. He followed B'Elanna back to the shuttle that would take them back to Voyager.
