Curiosity

I know it's soon to post another one already when I'm still working on others, but this just came into my head and I had these first two chapters typed up in about 20 minutes and couldn't wait to post.

Curiousity

"I just wish I could admit my feelings," Maddie said. "Honey, why can't you just say something?" Carey asked her. "Well...the sitation is a bit...complicated," Maddie admitted. Carey looked at the younger girl who she had taken on as a surrogate daughter shortly after she started working at the Tipton, wishing she could help. "How is it complicated? You like him, ask him out or something. We're women of the new millennium, it's okay to ask him." "Well, there's the complicated part. It's...uh...well," she stammered.

Carey was always willing to give advice to Maddie, knowing there was something off, she went over to put an arm around her, "Honey, what is it?" she tried to coax it out of her. Maddie looked at her, "Promise you won't freak out?" Carey nodded. "Well...it's just...it's not a man," Maddie finally admitted. "Okay, so...you like HER...ask her out," Carey said confidently without batting an eye, "You're a beautiful girl...you're smart, you're funny...male or female anyone would be proud to date you." "The problem is she's a little out of my league..." Maddie continued, "I don't think she'd like me." "A little out of your league? How so?" Maddie just shrugged, "Well, my pay check is seriously lacking." Carey stared at her, "You mean...no way...LONDON??" Maddie could only smile at the mention of her friend's name.

"Wow, and I thought I had problems!" Maddie turned to face Carey. "Huh?" Carey admitted she'd fallen for someone new and couldn't tell the boys. "Hey, I'm here for you, too, you know. You can confide in me. Who is it? The temporary doorman?" Maddie thought he was kind of cute, but a little too old for her, she wouldn't blame Carey for going after him. "No. He is hot, though, isn't he? It's the new member of the kitchen staff." Maddie thought for a moment. "Which one? Moseby's hired so many new people since Chef Paulo left for greener pastures..." Carey looked out the window of her suite, "Well, since we're being honest here...it's Sam." Maddie stopped on her way to the kitchen and spun around, "Sam...Sam...as in...Samantha??" Carey nodded, "Yeah, that'd be the one."

"Have you always been bi?" Carey slowly shook her head, "No, not really. My first crush was a girl in grade school, a few years older than me, but after middle school, I never really gave it much thought. However, after seeing Sam...well...I gotta admit I'm curious. You?" Maddie took a deep breath, "Well, remember me telling you about my first? It wasn't AlexandER, it was AlexandRIA." "Oh, well, at least you've got some experience. I'm going to have NO idea what I'm doing...if Sam even swings that way." Maddie smiled, "Uh, yeah, she does." "How do you know??" Maddie's grin widened, "She was going on about her last girlfriend in the kitchen. I work the candy counter, people often forget I'm there and talk about things. The guys down in the kitchen all think she's hot too, but they don't stand a chance. She only swings ONE way, and it ain't with the men," she winked at Carey, "So...all you have to do is get down there and say something!"

"Okay, so maybe I do have it easier than you. Have you ever heard London talking about other girls?" Maddie nodded, "Nope. Never. It's not like we share everything, but when she was staying with me for a few days a while ago, I did catch her looking when we'd be changing. I don't know if it was just because I'm so....tiny," she looked down at her chest, "...or if there was more to it. I wanted to say something, then I was worried about her teasing me so I kept my mouth shut." Carey put her arm around the younger girl again, this time pulling her into a hug, "It was probably more. London's never been good about sharing her feelings." She released Maddie and gave her a pat on the arm, "Now, go on downstairs and see if you can find her. Just tell her you need to talk." Maddie walked out and Carey went to go change so she could hit the kitchen before her show. "It's a good thing the boys are with their dad for the summer," she thought to herself.

Later on, they passed in the lobby, "So, how'd it go?" each asked the other in perfect timing. Laughing, Carey said she had a date for after the show. Maddie confessed she chickened out of talking to London. "I was ready to say something, but all that came out was 'London...we've got your favorite flavor of gum back in stock again'. UGH! How lame am I?" Carey gave her a quick hug. "Come up to the suite tomorrow around 1:30 and we can discuss tactics," then she was off to the ballroom to perform.

Maddie sat in the lobby most of the night, waiting for London to return from whatever function she was at. She was off, but even when she wasn't working, she still loved hanging out at the hotel. Her parents were always fighting lately and she tried desperately to avoid them as much as possible. Moseby didn't seem to care. When overhearing guests asking about restaurants or directions, Maddie was always glad to help out whether she was on the clock or not. When London came wandering in around 10:30, she decided it was now or never.

"Hey, London, can we go up to your suite? I need to talk to you." London agreed and they got into the elevator. "So, what's up?" "No, not here, someone might get on...let's wait until we get upstairs." They fell silent as they rode to the top. London swiped her key in the door and opened it, motioning for Maddie to go in first. London hung up her jacket and asked "So..." Maddie turned to her, not moving too far from the door, "Well, I just wanted to say that..." everything came out in a rush as Maddie hardly drew a breath, "I like you, London. Really like you. I have for a few months now. I want to be your lover. I want to feel your lips against mine. I want to feel your heartbeat against mine. I want to hear you moan so I know I'm pleasing you." With that, she was out the door.

Halfway to the elevator, she felt London's hand clamp onto her arm. "You can't just say stuff like that and run away!" Maddie was stunned, but tried to keep calm. "Well, I couldn't stay there and hear you going on about how disgusting it is, how much you like whatever guy you're with right now, or how you don't like me..." London cut her off, "Maddie, why do you think I tease you about...well...everything? Your hair, your clothes..." Maddie finally turned so they were face to face, "What do you mean?" London went on, "I only do that so my real feelings don't slip out. I LOVE your hair. I've lost count of how many times I've wanted to play with it. I know you're daddy doesn't make a gazillion dollars like mine, but I love your style, too...even if it's not designer."

Maddie sat down in the middle of the hall, unable to hide her shock. "But you...we...I've been..." London smiled at her and pulled her to her feet. "Come on. Let's go back to my suite and talk." As they entered, Maddie called home, "Hi, mom. I'm going to be a bit later. London and I are...talking." There was a slight pause, "WHAT??" Another pause. "Yeah, okay. I might. Just...leave the door open in case I don't," she whispered the last sentence.

"What's wrong?" Maddie looked at London, "Nothing, I guess? I told her we were talking..." "Yeah, I heard that part." Maddie went on, "She asked me if all we were doing was talking!" London laughed. "She must have suspected something. So, why the whispered conversation?" Maddie looked at her, "Well, she asked if I was staying the night...I told her to leave the door unlocked for me." London smiled and handed her back her phone, which she had dropped on the table as she hung up. "Call her back. Tell her you're staying the night."
