ALL MY CHILDREN---Crossing the Line
Rating: NC-17 for the story as a whole, particularly Parts 2 and 3.
Disclaimer#2: The character of Mara Richards and her business, Mara's Retreat were created by me for this story, as was the details surrounding of the events involving Kendall and Di first meeting each other. All other characters mentioned by name all appear on All My Children and their rights belong to the creators of All My Children and ABC television. This story is for entertainment purposes only and was inspired from an answer that Alicia Minshew, who portrays Kendall on AMC. She was asked who should her character on AMC have an one night stand with? Her surprising answer was Di Henry, a female co-worker and friend of her character, Kendall Hart. This inspired me to written story about a possible relationship between these two women. As I stated earlier, this story is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant as an infringement on the copyright that All My Children and ABC Television has on these characters.
CROSSING THE LINE
PART 1----- HORSEPLAY AT WORK
It started like any other day at Fusion Cosmetics, Di, Babe, Simone and Kendall, the four friends who ran the company, busily running around the office working on various projects for their fall advertising campaign. Simone broke away from Di, Babe and one of their secretaries when she spotted the cute delivery guy walk off the elevator carrying a large bouquet of red roses.
“How can I help you”, she purred at him, drawing some giggles for her friends and a role of the eyes from Kendall. Although clearly distracted by the raven-haired beauty, he still able to say, “I have a delivery for a Ms. Di Henry” which brought a disappointed reaction from Simone and surprised reaction from everyone else including Di herself.
“That’s me”, said an angelic faced blue-eyed blonde who put her hand up tentatively, then started to walk over towards him to take the flowers. She was soon followed by the tallest of the beautiful women in the office, Kendall, with curly auburn hair and long legs most women would kill for, who handed him a tip and thanked him for the delivery. He turned to go, telling himself he definitely had to do more deliveries to this place and was more than pleased with Simone walked over to escort him to the elevator.
“Trolling for a number, no doubt”, Kendall snorted to herself; then turned her attention to finding out who sent her angelic friend the rose.
“Hey, look, there’s a note. Who’s it from”, asked Babe, the youngest member of the friends, who’s looks, body and long blonde hair made her look like someone who would fit in better at a Spring Break beach party than a major Cosmetic company.
As Di goes to open the card that came with the roses, Kendall snatches it away from her, holding it just out of reach, as Di tries to take it back.
“Give it back, Kendall!” “No” “Give it back, Kendall!!”
“No, not to I see who your secret admirer is.” Kendall says playfully.
“GIVE IT BACK, KENDALL!!!” Di roars, getting tried of Kendall teasing her and takes a wild lunge at the card. Kendall pulls it away, giggling. Simone and Babe laughing at this game only increases Di’s anger, taking another lunge at getting the card back. Kendall swiftly switches the card back and forth from hand to hand to keep it away from Di, even holding the card directly above her head, just out of Di’s reach. This does not stop Di, who makes a desperate leap to grab the card, which is dodged by Kendall and Di goes flying and almost crashes into one of the desks.
“Easy tiger, just relax now”, Kendall says to Di, surprised by her friend’s extreme reaction to her game.
“GIVE IT BACK, KENNDDALLL!!!!” Di screams, with a look in her eye that tells Kendall she has pushed it too far. All Kendall can do is RUN, when Di charges at her. It’s on now, in a scene out of an episode of Benny Hill, Di chases Kendall around the whole Fusion office: the main office, the change room, storage room, the main hall, the roof, everywhere. After 5 minutes of this, Kendall arrives back in the main office, alone and exhausted, with the uncontrollable giggling of Simone and Babe ringing in her ear.
“She’s a wild woman”, Kendall is able to say before Di, who is still determined to get the card back, locks her in a reverse bear hug. An intense wrestling match begins, egged on the woots and catcalls of Simone and Babe; Kendall fighting to get out of the hold, Di determined to keep Kendall in the hold and get her card back.
“DI, LET GO OF ME! STOP IT!!” Kendall shrieks “NOT TO YOU GIVE UP!!”, Di bellows.
“YOU WANT TO GO, LET’S GO!!!! Kendall screams. Using a move she saw was watching wrestling with Zach and Spike, she places her right lower leg behind Di’s left ankle and kicks, knocking them both off balance and falling to the floor. Simone acts quickly, pushing Kendall’s chair in the way, which both women land on awkwardly. Simone and Babe are worried about their friends until they both lean back and start giggling uncontrollably. Di is sitting on the chair with her leg about, and Kendall is half sitting between her legs and half sitting on Di’s left thigh. As both girls and their friends continue to giggle, Di’s left hand moves, almost by itself, from the position it was in, around Kendall’s waist, lower and to the left, out of site up Kendall’s skirt. Di knows she may have crossed the line, from Kendall’s change of expression and the sideward glance she gives her. Di wants to move hand quickly away but does not want to alter Simone and Babe that she did something wrong. Kendall gives her the chance by declaring, “Enough horseplay, back to work”, Di moves her hand as Kendall gets up, but is surprised when Kendall gives her a playful slap on Di’s right thigh, leaving a red mark and Di’s card in her wake.
Kendall say, “ Excuse me ladies, while I go straighten my hair” as she walks out of the room, never taking her eyes off Di as she leaves and with Di watching Kendall until she goes out of sight.
“Boy, we should hire you two out as entertainment for parties. So, who sent the roses?” Simone asked Di, who is lost in though while lightly sniffing her left thumb and middle finger.
“Oh, umm, it was Aidan”, Di responds reading the card in her right hand, but it is the last thing she is thinking about.
Simone and Babe are both back hard at work so much so that they don’t notice that Kendall has been gone far too long just to fix her hair, but Di does. She has been checking the direction which Kendall had left, every 5 seconds, waiting for her return. Di has not gotten any work done; instead she continuously sniffs her left thumb and middle finger, thinking only about how they came to smell the way they do. Kendall finally returns, apologizing for being so long, giving a look to Di that causes her to blush and stare at her desk for the rest of the day.
As they prepare to leave, Simone and Babe check on Di, who has not said a word since the end of her fight with Kendall. Kendall, then suddenly say a quick goodbye to everyone and is the first one out the door. Di is not happy about this, her friends say not to worry, Kendall is probably in one of her moods and everything would be fine between them in the morning. They ask her if she wants to go out to dinner with them but she declines; she says she is going to go to Mara’s Retreat, a favourite spa of hers, and spend the night relaxing in their sauna. Good idea, they say and as they turn to go, Simone noticed the elevator door had just closed. “Had Kendall been standing there the whole time listening to their conversation?” she wondered. It did not matter anyway, she thought and then walked out with the other two girls.
