If We're Having Fun, Then It's Probably Wrong

Chapter 1: If We’re Having Fun, Then It’s Probably Wrong

A/N: This is my take on the whole Jackie / Hyde relationship. Most of the story is going to be a reworking of season 5 and 6. Some dialogue will be borrowed from the actual show and if it is I will properly disclaim it. I don’t own the characters. Anything original is mine. Read, Review, Enjoy!

A/N 2: Dialogue borrowed from – 5.01, Going to California

*Forman Basement – 1 p.m.

“It’s ringing.” Eric told the group from his perch on the back of the couch. “It’s ringing!” He said again in a sing song voice. Then he realized what was about to happen. “Oh my god! It’s ringing!” He hung up the phone in panic.

“And Eric chickens out again. Quack, Quack, Quack.” Fez said smiling over his own cleverness.

Oh God. Jackie thought to herself. She had no interest in other people’s drama unless she could use it to her own advantage. As for the whole Eric and Donna thing, she was sooo over it. She had her own little gossip now, the only secret she’s ever kept. She glanced over at Steven, willing him to look back her way. He didn’t. Instead, he sat up in his seat and turned to Eric.

“Forman, what’s the problem?” Hyde asked. Jackie looked up at Eric, and thought that there were far too many problems to pick just one.

“It's just…I want to tell her to come home, that I miss her, that…I love her. I mean…it's too much to say over the phone.” Eric got pouty again and Jackie couldn’t take it. In order to get him out of the basement sooner, she decided to dispense her always brilliant advice.

“Look, Eric, just write her a letter. That's how I broke up with Michael. Yeah… I was able to take my time and come up with good synonyms for ‘cowardly, won't-marry-me loser, run-away-to-California jackass.’” She smiled in encouragement and satisfaction.

“Jackie, I'm charismatic in person. I've got…these awesome hand gestures. And, uh…I kinda waggle my eyebrows when I talk.” He smiled proudly down at her, flailing his hands in the air. She threw a doubtful look in Steven’s direction. He gave her the slightest trace of a grin, and she got excited. She loved relationships when they were new. Of course this wasn’t a relationship. This was just…a way to kill time.

Fez was looking on at Eric incredulously. “What? You do that on purpose?” And Jackie suppressed her laughter.

“Thanks, you guys. That's--that's helpful.” Eric stood up and walked to the stairs. Finally, now to just get rid of Fez, Jackie thought. Then Eric stopped and turned. “You know what? That's it. I'm goin'. I'll just show up in California, and, like, blow her mind. Yeah! I mean, when the Empire killed Luke Skywalker's aunt and uncle, did he just call them up?”

“Oh god.” Hyde, Jackie and Fez all groaned in unison.

“No! He hopped on the Millennium Falcon, and he paid a little visit to the Death Star.” Eric looked over them all, proud with his analogy.

Fez however took a few steps forward, his hands on his hips, looking very confused. “Wait a minute. Do chickens go ‘quack,’ or did I mess that up?”

Not knowing how to respond, Eric just shook his head. “I’m going upstairs to get lunch and talk to may parents about California.”

Fez sat down next to Jackie on the couch and threw his arm around her. “So, Jackie. You wrote a letter to Kelso, huh. So you’re really single now?”

She stared at him already knowing where this was going. “Uh huh...”

“Maybe it is time we stop fighting our impulses and just do it!” He smiled hopefully at her.

“I don’t think so Fez.” She turned to Steven, urging him to do something.

“Shut up Fez.” Hyde said standing. “We’ve got to help out Forman. Red will never let him just go to California.” He pulled Fez up and put both his hands on his shoulders. “Now I have a mission for you.”

“Ooo yay…like a spy.” Fez said clapping his hands excitedly.

“Kind of…..I need you to check everywhere in Forman’s room for one of his secret stashes of money.”

“But there is money in the thermos.” Fez pointed to the shelf.

“I know, but that’s special money. We’ll use that if you can’t find anything upstairs. And make sure you look really good, okay. Take as long as you need.”

“Okay amigo!” And Fez ran excitedly up the stairs.

Hyde sat next to Jackie and she felt her heart race. She ran her fingers up his arm and played with his hair. In an instant they were all over each other. She pulled him down on top of her, liking the weight of him. His hands were in her hair, caressing her face, at her waist. His lips were soft and hungry. He kissed his way to her neck, nipping lightly as his hands began to inch they’re way up her shirt. She gasped as his fingertips lightly brushed the underside of her breast. She wanted him. More than she had ever wanted anything in her life, and that was saying something.

*******************************************************************

Hyde had lost all common sense. Jackie was everything he was against. Stuck-up, rich, spoiled. But now that he had gotten a taste of her, he wanted more. The past three weeks had been hell, trying to not want her. But she smelled so good, and her hair and skin was so soft. He nibbled his way to her neck, liking the way her breath quickened. He was doing that to her. Of course that was nothing compared to what she was doing to him. He could feel his erection, growing more with each stroke of her breast. He ran his thumb lightly around her nipple before roughly grabbing her whole breast. She moaned out loud. He liked that she liked it rough. But he knew he had to stop this soon, before it would be too hard for either one of them. He hated that he cared, but knowing that Jackie had only been with one guy, and that that guy was Kelso, he didn’t want things to go too far too soon. Who knows, they might break off whatever this was by tomorrow. He didn’t want her to regret anything they had done. And he certainly wasn’t looking for a girlfriend, especially if it was Jackie Burkhart. While he didn’t exactly hate her anymore, he sure as hell didn’t like her. She was just a hot girl he could pass the time with this summer. Besides, when Kelso returned, she’d probably jump right back into their on again off again relationship. He was too laid back for the kind of drama this girl could bring into his life.

He suddenly realized that her hands were at his jeans, feeling around for the zipper. This had to stop soon, or not only would they be doing something she might regret later, they might get caught in the middle of it. And he was only human after all, if she managed to get her hands on him down there, there’s no way he wouldn’t give in. “Jackie.” He grabbed her hands. “Wait, Fez could come racing down here any minute. Do you really want him spreading word that you were doing this…with me. What would the other cheerleaders say?” As condescending as he was, the question seemed to snap her out of it.

“Well, maybe you should just learn to keep your hands to yourself.” She stood straightening out her clothes and running her fingers through her hair. He bent over with his elbows on his knees, trying to will away his erection. It wasn’t easy with her still standing so close.

“I believe my hands were still above the waist.” He taunted her hoping an argument and her annoying voice would do the trick.

“Oooohhh…don’t get me started on who’s hands were doing what.” She turned to him.

Just then, Fez decided to make his way downstairs. “I couldn’t find any money. We will have to use the Scooby thermos. Hyde, what happened, you look like you’re in pain.”
