Into the fire
A soft knock came rapping on the door; it startled Gil Grissom out of his nap on his couch in the darkened office. His head was pounding and the noise didn't help, with this serial killer running rampant for 2 months and not even a sliver of usable evidence Grissom was more than stressed. He didn't stir as the door opened, "Whoever you are, please make it quick and get out."
"Gil its Ecklie." At the man's voice Gil lifted his black mask and sat up.
"I'm guessing this is about the Quinlan case?" He sat up and grabbed his glasses off the end table.
Ecklie nodded and gestured to the seat across from the case. At Grissom's nod he took a seat, "Gil they are stepping this case up. Bringing in the big guns."
Grissom nodded, "I figured as much, when do they arrive?" He questioned rubbing his temples; it was never good to not be able to solve a case, especially one of this calibers. What was even worse was having the city hire big guns to bring the culprit to justice, it always made Grissom cringe knowing someone was smarter than him.
Ecklie shook his head, "They went right past the FBI," he leaned back in his chair. "You will never believe who they are bringing in."
Grissom rolled his eyes, "Ecklie, please no games. Who are they bringing in? When will they be here? That's all that is important right now."
Just as Ecklie started to answer his pager went off, he pulled hit off his belt and studied it. "Well I hope she gets here soon because we've got another one to add to the list." At the same time Gil's phone started vibrating. “4-19. 26 year old female, found just south of the strip."
Grissom sighed and rubbed his temple, his migraine was back in full force after 15 minutes of subsiding. "Is my team out at the site?"
Conrad nodded, "So is our specialist, I hope your team takes her serious because she solved more murders on her own then our whole department."
Grissom glared at Ecklie, "Conrad! Who is she?" Gil grabbed his forehead and cringed at the pain; he lay back down on his sofa and closed his eyes.
"It's Nikita Hans, Grissom." At Gil's head nod he knew it was time to leave. Grissom at any other time would have been one of the first on the scene, especially to greet the person who would be invading his case, but today was not that day.
Conrad shook his head; another innocent lost their life because they couldn’t catch the bastard. He understood Gil’s frustration, they had to admit the one thing they honestly feared the most and it made the entire department sick. This bastard; whoever he or she was…was smarted than them all.
A/N: As with everything I own nothing...yada yada yada. Just here to enjoy a fun time with writing, will update weekly.
