Diffrent Path
Chapter 1…..
The ballroom of the Grand hotel was filled to the brim with people. Young men in rented tuxedos and young women in dresses, that most had saved money for, since like forever. The music was playing loud enough that you were forced to raise your voice just slightly to be heard. It didn’t really matter for those who were caught up in the moment, like Justin and Daphne; they were dancing and laughing, rediscovering their friendship.
Brian walked into the hall, his eyes slowly scanning the room looking for Justin. He spotted the young blond and walked over. Perfectly dressed as always, his suit made him look sophisticated and the scarf around his neck gave him a very debonair air.
Daphne saw Brian long before Justin did. She pointed him out to the boy.
Justin slowly turned around and watched this beautiful man walk over to him. His face is flushed with excitement, blue eyes sparkling. Brian, as always tries to play it cool.
“Thought you said you wouldn't be caught dead in a room full of eighteen-year-olds.” Justin smirks at the older man, his voice lightly mocking.
“I thought I'd recapture my lost youth. “ Brians hand was slowly stroking the lapel of Justin’s suit jacket. Brian turns to Daphne and says, “You look hot, Daphne,” as he kisses the side of her face, making her giggle, “I’d fuck you.”
”Uh, you-you too, Brian.” She stutters as her gaze flickers up to him.
“Mind if I borrow your date?” He asks, his eyes firmly fixed on Justin. Daphne mouths ‘no’ and with a smile at Justin, she steps aside.
Brian gazes at Justin for a second, before leading him out to the dance floor. In typical Kinney fashion he walked straight ahead and the crowd parted. The music changed to an old classic as Brian turned to Justin. With the ease of two people used to dancing together, they started to sway. Brian took the scarf from around his neck and gently placed it over Justin’s shoulders.
You can dance
Every dance with the guy
Who gives you the eye
Let him hold you tight
You can smile
The people around them stand still, giving the lovers the floor. The reactions are mixed. Some smile and nod. The guys laugh it off as a joke, looking quite uncomfortable while others, mostly females look dreamy.
Because it was a Catholic school, the teachers that chaperoned the event quickly discussed whether or not to allow the dance to continue. As it seemed harmless, they decided to allow it. There was one face in the crowd who looked murderous, the boy who had been harassing Justin for most of the year, Chris Hobbs.
Every smile for the man
who held your hand Beneath the pale moonlight
But don't forget who's taking you home
and in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin', save the last dance for me
The two men dancing seemed to be oblivious to everything around them, having eyes only for each other. They started moving across the floor. Brian led the younger blond with an expert touch. They moved with the familiarity of two people who knew each other well. That was something that even the self-absorbed teens of St James academy could see without any help.
Oh, I know
That the music’s fine
Like sparkling wine
Go and have your fun
Laugh and sing
Justin could not believe what he was seeing in the eyes of his lover, the man who many times, proclaimed to not believe in love. He saw love, warmth and tenderness, as well as lust and respect. He laughed gently as Brian spun him around. They glided over the floor a few more steps before he was spun again. Justin gave himself over to Brian’s complete lead. He simply allowed the older man to move him where he pleased.
But while we're apart
Don't give your heart to anyone
And don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin', save the last dance for me
Brian felt the teen completely relax in his arms. He was amazed at the level of trust the younger man showed him, in bed and outside of it. No one had ever showed him that complete faith while still seeing his shortcomings. Lindsay and Mikey both had rose-colored glasses when it came to him, one way or another. This little, persistent brat had gotten in under the wire. He had pushed the kid away after that first night. But Sunshine just came bouncing right back, never allowing himself be ignored. If he still talked to the big man upstairs, he would be thanking him now.
Baby don't you know I love you so
Can't you feel it when we touch
I will never never let you go
I love you oh so much
They come slowly to a halt as Justin’s hand crept inside Brian’s suit jacket, slowly unbuttoning it. With a flirty glance, he moved around the man so he was standing behind Brian. Slowly he peeled away the jacket, pausing to press his entire body against the one in front of him.
The muttered “tease” from Brian only served to make Justin smile. Tossing the jacket to Daphne, he returned the white silk scarf to Brian’s neck, fisting the scarf in his hand; he started to move Brian and himself in time to the music. He felt insanely happy that Brian allowed him a few seconds of leading before reclaiming control.
You can dance
Go and carry on
Till the night is gone
And it's time to go
If he asks
If you're all alone
Can he take you home
You must tell him no
Cause don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arm's you're gonna be
So darlin save the last dance for me
As the song moved closer to the end Brian and Justin’s dance moves became more advanced and showy. Brian dipped Justin before grabbing him and spinning him around. As Brian held Justin close again he captured his lips in a breathtaking kiss; Justin’s knees almost buckled under him. Daphne watched from the sidelines, loving every second of the show, as well as the reactions around her. She sighed, wishing that she could find a love like that one day.
Cause don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin’ save the last dance for me
Save the last dance for me
Mmmmh, save the last dance for me
Mmmmh, save the last dance for me
Mmh, save the last dance for me
As the last notes of the song played out in the room, Brian grabbed Justin’s hand and dragged him out of the hall, the gazes of Justin’s classmates burning holes into their backs.
After stopping with Daphne to get Brian’s jacket back, Justin and Brian were acting like a couple of lovesick teenagers all the way down to the parking garage. Well, Justin was a lovesick teen, but even he was acting more sappy than usual.
They stopped occasionally, kissing and touching. They laughed and sang in between the pauses of kissing and holding hands. As they came closer to the jeep, Justin was singing off key.
“…And don't forget whose taking you home…” Brian joins in and they embrace but keep walking. “…and in whose arms you're gonna be...”
”Did you see their faces?” Justin almost laughs in glee. Brian smiled at him. His voice was warm.
” Yeah, we gave them a prom they'll never forget.”
“Me, neither.” Justin spoke softly, looking up at Brian. They reach the jeep and Brian takes off the scarf and puts it around Justin's neck, plastering the younger man up against the jeep.
”It's the best night of my life.” Justin says, smiling up at Brian. The older man smiled as well. He fingered the scarf around Justin’s neck, a crooked smile on his lips.
“Even if it was ridiculously romantic…” Brian leans in to kiss Justin but hesitates for a fraction of a second before claiming the boy’s lips. Brian pulls Justin away from the jeep and turns them so his back is against the door of the jeep instead. There was a small pause where Brian seemed to reconsider what he was going to say.
“Come home with me tonight Justin...”
