Prologue

August 2, 1977

Great plumes of fire fell from the sky destroying anything and everything in their path. The Source of all evil walked the panicked stricken streets invisible to mortal eyes, enjoying the devastation the meteor shower was causing. He watched as a young girl’s parents were blown to bits by an impacting meteor and laughed while he cursed her to forever attract danger to herself and those close to her.

He walked through the flames and debris as more meteors fell from the sky as the Oracle’s voice slid into his mind, “A great fire will fall from the sky, and with it great power.” He smiled darkly as he watched the panicked worms run, “Where to now Oracle?”

The female voice filled his mind like a silky balm, “Follow the street to a field of corn my lord.”

In a rush of flames he appeared standing in the center of a road as a red truck drove past him. He watched as a huge black object fell from the sky and crashed through the road in front of the truck causing it to flip and roll a few times coming to a rest in a ditch. The Source smiled and clapped his hands, “At least they knew how to put a seatbelt on.”

His black silk billowed around him as he glided over to see where the object had landed. His black eyes widened at the sight before him. A small silver metallic ship was sitting in a large crater in the center of the cornfield. Walking over to it he saw a baby with bright blue eyes looking up at him, “Well, what do we have here?”

The baby made a giggling noise and reached up and grabbed the hem of his robe causing the Source’s eyes to grow wider, “You can see me?” This only made the baby pull harder causing the Source to almost lose his balance and fall over, “Strong little devil.” He muttered.

The Oracle’s voice slid into his mind, “Success, my lord?”

The Source bent over and picked the child up into his pale arms, “Success, Oracle.”

“Most excellent my lord, I prepare for your arrival.” The Oracle said and her voice was gone as easily as it came.

The Source smiled down into the giggling blue eyes, “Well, my little Phyre. You have a lot to learn.” He looked over at the ship and it vanished in flames, and then, so did he.

Jonathan Kent opened his eyes and moaned in pain as he looked around to see Martha starting to wake up. Both of them were hanging upside down by there seatbelts and he slowly reached out and took her hand as she opened her eyes, “Hello sweetheart.”

“Jonathan,” She asked while looking around, “What happened?”

He undid his seatbelt and fell with a thump on the ceiling of the truck, “I don’t know, let’s get you out of here.”

He reached up and undid her seatbelt and pulled her gently down to him. He helped her to crawl out of the truck first and then he followed close behind. Both stood there in the midst of smoke and flames when a swirl of blue lights appeared before them and a man and woman dressed in white stepped out of the flames, carrying a small bundle.

Martha’s eyes were wide in astonishment as were Jonathan’s. The woman in white stepped towards Martha, and Martha’s heart broke at the look of pain in the Woman’s eyes, “Please,” The woman said, “Take care of this child.” She placed the baby in Martha’s shaking arms, and the woman smiled warmly at her, “Please, make sure his name starts with a P.” The man slowly walked up behind her and put his arms around her as blue lights began to swirl around the both of them, and then, they were gone.

Both had to look down at the crying baby to make sure what had happened was real. Martha looked at her husband in shock, “Jonathan?”

“We’ve always wanted a baby sweetheart,” He told her as he ticked his little nose which made him sneeze, “I guess our prayers have been answered.

Martha smiled and said, “Bless you.”

Jonathan smiled as pretty green eyes looked at him, “So, what are we going to name him?”

Martha looked thoughtful, “Well, out of fire and blue lights he came,” She said while looking at the destruction around her, “Smoke and ashes are all around Jonathan. Here is our little hope, our little miracle, our little Phoenix.”

Jonathan snorted, “Phoenix, I was hoping for Clark or Jon.”

Martha laughed and held the baby closer, “His name has to start with a P Jonathan. We can call him Phe or Nix for short.”

“Phoenix Kent?” He asked, “It’s a good thing we don’t live in Arizona Martha. The poor boy would be tormented daily.”

Martha laughed as little green eyes watched her closely and little hands reached out to play with her hair. The two of them stood there for sometime just thanking the two angels who had delivered them a precious gift.

Three years later Martha Kent lay dying in a hospital bed with terminal breast cancer. She held her little Phoenix close, “I’ll always watch over you Little Phe. Even though the meteors brought such pain and sadness I thank god for it everyday,” She said as green eyes looked up at her, “Because it brought you to me.”

Phoenix smiled and leaned his head up to kiss her on the cheek, “Love, Mama.”

Tears fell from her eyes as she kissed him on the head running her fingers through his silky red hair, “And Mama loves you to Little Phe.”

He patted her tear stained cheek as Jonathan walked into the room, “There’s my two beauties.”

Martha smiled through tears as he kissed her and took a seat at her side, “Love him for me to Jonathan.”

Tears fell from his eyes as he got out of the chair and lay down next to her with her in his arms. Phoenix knew that something sad was happening but he refused to cry. He wanted to stay happy so Mama would smile more. It was her smile and pretty hands he would always remember as well as, “Mama loves you to, Little Phe.”

Modern Day 2001

“Phoebe, get your ass out here and help us!” Piper yelled as Cole threw another fireball for her to successfully dodge.

Phoebe leaned against the locked bathroom door in tears as Paige cried out, “Phoebe, we need you!”

She took a deep breath and opened the door and stepped out. She slowly walked over and picked up the crystal smiling at Cole. He looked at her with love in his eyes, “Good, Phoebe.”

Another fireball appeared in his hand but she walked over to him, “What are you doing?” Piper yelled.

Phoebe ignored her as she kissed her husband for the last time. She felt so much love in the kiss, but she loved her sisters more. She slowly pulled away from him, “I’m so sorry baby.”

Cole’s eyes widened as she put the crystal down making the barrier form around him again. He cried out, “Phoebe, no!”

“I’m so sorry.” She sobbed as she took her two sisters by the hand.

Piper started to chant, “Prudence, Patricia, Penelope, Melinda,” As Paige followed in, “Astrid, Helena, Lauren, and Grace.”

All three chanted as one, “Halliwell witches stand strong beside us.”

Phoebe looked up at Cole with tears streaming from her eyes as he said, “I love you Phoebe.”

The tears fell harder, “Vanquish this evil from time and place.”

Cole cried out and an explosion shook the whole penthouse apartment. Windows shattered and steel beams fell. Phoebe screamed and fell to the floor as Piper and Paige ran to her side, both screaming for Leo.

Thousands of miles away a young man woke up in a cold sweat. His breathing was ragged and labored as he clutched his sheets for dear life. He looked around his dark penthouse bedroom and got to his feet slowly as to not wake his lover beside him.

He slowly opened the bedroom door and made his way silently down the dark hall to the kitchen. He opened the fridge and took out a bottle of water and sat down at the dining table. He unscrewed the cap and took a long drink before sitting it back down to catch his breath.

His hands were still shaking when he heard feet softly padding down the hall to where he was. He could hear a hand fumbling for the light switch as a sleepy voice asked, “Phoenix?”

“Over here Clark.” Phoenix said as he slowly got to his feet and walked over to him.

“Why are you up so early?” Clark asked him as he gave him a soft hug.

Phoenix shook his head, “Just a bad dream, that’s all.”

Clark released him and walked over to get some juice from the fridge, “Do you want to talk about it?”

Phoenix got him a glass, “It seemed so real, like I was there.”

Clark took the glass with a thank you and poured the juice, “Well, tell me about it.”

“There was this huge room that looked richly decorated. These three women were holding hands chanting while this man was trapped in this big bubble thing and he blew up. One of the women had short hair and a tattoo on her neck, she died, I think.” Phoenix told him as Clark looked at him thoughtful.

“Sounds like too much Sci-Fi to me,” Clark said as he took him by the hand, “Come back to bed and I’ll hold you.”

Phoenix nodded his head and followed Clark back to the bedroom where they both climbed in. Clark wrapped his arms around Phoenix and pulled him close to his chest. Phoenix smiled and closed his eyes as he whispered, “Thanks for chasing the bad dreams away.”

Clark kissed the back of his neck and smiled through silky red hair that grew over the years to the color of flame. Clark whispered warmly into his ear, “I love you.”

Phoenix leaned his head closer to Clark’s chin, “I love you to.”

Clark smiled up into the dark and his eyes bled to black. He pulled Phoenix closer to him, “Mine.”
