He remembers the phone call vividly. He’d smiled at the sound of Duncan’s voice on the other end, missing the empty tone he would have picked up on had the music not been so loud.
He also remembers how the music stopped. At least, for him it did. The whole room stopped that night. Because Lilly was dead. And Logan couldn’t quite believe the world was still turning without her. He’d rushed outside, staggering slightly. He looked drunk.
He wasn’t.
They’d called his name, trying to get him back inside. But with his eyes fixated, he left the muted sounds behind him.
And it was probably that moment it stopped being a bit of fun. The “Lilly will never knows” and “its not like she doesn’t sleep arounds” are just a bitter taste on his tongue and yet another thing he hates about himself.
But as much as the fun has gone, the need has grown. Logan still sneaks out at night, usually when there’s a fresh bruise on his skin from one of his Daddy’s temper tantrums. Duncan leaves the window open especially, though he’d probably never admit it. So without a word spoken, Logan climbs into bed with his dead girlfriend’s brother, and lets his best friend wrap big arms around him, trying to warm him up from the night chill.
There are days when they simply sleep in each other’s arms, each using the other for that little bit of comfort they miss from Lilly. Logan’s hand rests on Duncan’s chest, fingers lightly brushing against the smooth skin the way Lilly had done to him. It isn’t the same, but then sometimes that’s a good thing.
Of course, there are other days. When Logan climbs into bed naked, eager to wake Duncan with cold hands and warm lips. Again, no words…or rather small words that mean nothing more than what they say. And while Logan has Duncan’s cock buried deep in his throat, Duncan is closing his eyes and gently holding Logan’s head, stroking the spiky blond hair to show his approval.
Logan never lets go of the guilt. But then, neither does Duncan. They’d like to say Lilly would approve, that she’d be egging them on. But that would require saying it. Talking about it seems to be against the rules now.
It’s better that way.
And as Duncan lies awake, with Logan sleeping in his arms, he watches for the bad dreams. One day, he thinks, it’ll be different. He can save them both, the way he couldn’t save Lilly.
Then again, he thinks, there are worse places to be.
End.
