“I suppose you could crash at my place,” Alex had said to George when Christina had Dr Burke kick him out of their apartment, “If you clean up the crap I haven’t got around to unpacking in the living room.”
George had agreed and had surprisingly cleaned the whole place up, putting away anything that hadn’t been unpacked and wiping down anywhere Alex hadn’t been bothered to wipe, like the takeout that had been spilled over the worktops in the kitchen.
Now, as he lay in his bed, Alex regretted his decision. For the fifth night in a row he could hear George pacing around in the living room. It was obvious that George had some kind of problem but Alex didn’t care about that, he only cared that he couldn’t sleep because of his new roommate’s stomping feet.
He couldn’t take much more. He pulled the duvet up over his head to try and block out the sound but he could still hear it.
“George!” he yelled. The pacing stopped for a moment but then started again. Alex jumped out of bed and opened the bedroom door, only to find George diving into the bathroom.
“O’Malley, what the hell is up with you?” he tried to follow George into the bathroom but the door was locked. “George, are you… are you alright?”
“Alex, just leave me alone will you? Please,” George replied, his voice was filled with distress.
“No,” Alex replied, “I won’t leave you alone; you’ve kept me awake for five nights. What’s up with you?”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to, I… it doesn’t matter, go back to bed Karev, just go back to bed.
This time Alex could tell that George was crying. He didn’t know what to do, what to say, usually when grown men cried, he laughed at them but this time he felt bad for even thinking about laughing. He ran back to his room and searched for his cell phone. Finding it on his nightstand he quickly searched for Meredith’s phone number. She would know what to do, he was sure of it.
The phone rang for a long few moments before Meredith answered sounding groggy.
“Hello?”
“Meredith? Is that you?”
“Alex? What… what time is it?”
”I don’t know. Meredith, I didn’t know what else to do…”
“Alex,” Meredith said, “What is it? What’s happened? Are you alright?”
“Meredith, its George, he’s locked himself in the bathroom, he’s crying I don’t know what to do.”
“What did you do to him?” she asked, seeming to become more alert.
“What? I didn’t do anything to him, he… he just locked himself in there. Meredith, please I don’t know what to do.” The line went silent for a few moments before she answered.
“Alex, what can I do? He’s not even speaking to me, remember, because of the whole…”
“Yeah, I remember, I don’t need the visual again, thanks. Well can you go and get Izzie? Go and put Izzie on the phone.” Alex heard Meredith sigh and the line went silent gain until he heard her yelling at Izzie to wake up.
“What do you want, Alex?” Izzie snapped, taking the phone.
“George has locked himself in the bathroom and he won’t talk to me, Izzie, he’s crying, what do I do?”
“What did you do to him?”
“What?” Alex said, “Why does everyone assume that I did something?”
“Because, Alex,” Izzie replied, that’s what you do, you piss people off so much.”
“You mean I piss you off so much?”
“No Alex, I mean you piss us all off. Seriously, Meredith, tell him.” Alex sighed, frustrated at the sound of Meredith’s agreement.
“Look, Izzie, can you come over here, or just talk to him?”
“Put him on the phone,” she said, “I’m not going half way across town in the middle of the night just to clean up your mess.”
“Izzie, it’s not my… I mean I didn’t… Hang on.” He knocked lightly on the bathroom door. “George, I have Izzie on the phone. Will you talk to her?”
“I… I can’t,” George replied shakily.
“O’Malley, come on, just talk to her and…”
”No!” George yelled, “I don’t want to talk to her.”
Alex put the phone to his ear again. “Izzie…”
“I heard,” she replied, sounding as if she were starting to doze off again. “Look, Alex, Just try talking to him. Be nice, act as though you care and I’ll talk to you at work.” The line went dead.
“I already did!” Alex hissed as he threw his phone against the wall.
Suddenly, he heard the bathroom door click. George had unlocked it. Alex opened it and just stood in the doorway.
“You’ve broken your phone,” George said looking at the broken device lying on the floor.
“It doesn’t matter,” Alex replied, sitting down on the floor next to the other man. He looked at George’s face and saw the stains his tears had made. For now, he had stopped crying but for how long, Alex was unsure.
“What do you want, Alex?” George asked “why are you in here?”
“Why did you let me in?”
George wiped at his eyes and looked at the floor, taking in a deep breath. “Because,” he began, “I couldn’t talk to Izzie while Meredith was there, and I couldn’t talk to Meredith because it’s about Meredith.”
“Meredith is the reason you’ve been awake most of every night since you’ve been here? The reason you’ve been keeping me awake,” he shook his head. “So talk.”
“I… I don’t know where to begin. I… can’t…”
“Breath,” Alex told him. “Just take a deep breath and say what’s on your mind.”
George did as he was told and inhaled deeply.
“I’m in love with her, Alex. I love her and she doesn’t love me back.”
“Can you be ‘in love’ if the other person doesn’t love you back?” Alex asked. It was a good question but George seriously didn’t know the answer.
“I just love her,” he replied. His eyes welled up with tears again and he turned away from Alex, trying to hide his face.
“Hey, I already know that you’re crying so you might as well let me see,” Alex stated.
“Oh, right and you’re not going to laugh at me? Alex, I know what you’re like.”
“Yeah, I usually would, but… I don’t know… I’m not going to laugh at you.” So George turned his head to face Alex and at the same time, grabbed some toilet paper and wiped his eyes with it.
“I feel like such an idiot,” George said through sobs, “I’m a grown man.”
“Hey, its okay, man, don’t beat yourself up, it’s fine really.”
They both sat in silence for a long while. George was dumbfounded at Alex’s surprising compassionate side, and Alex was staring at the floor not knowing exactly what to say next.
“Have you ever been like this over a girl?” George asked, finally breaking the silence.
Alex looked up and as their eyes met, George was sure he saw something there that nobody else had seen. Empathy. Humanity.
“Not exactly,” Alex explained.
“How not exactly?”
“I really don’t want to talk about it,” Alex stated as he leaned his back against the bathtub.
George stared at him. “Tell me,” he insisted.
Alex looked away for a moment and then back again. Slowly he turned so that he was facing George and before George could think Alex’s lips were on his. He pulled back quickly and stumbled to his feet.
“What the hell was that?!”
“O’Malley, calm down will you?”
“Alex, are you, like, gay?” George was shocked and he wasn’t quite sure if what had happened had actually happened.
“Yeah… no… I don’t know, I guess a little.”
George ran past him and made his way back into the living room. Alex wasn’t far behind.
“When you said not exactly, you meant not exactly over a girl, didn’t you?” George asked, still obviously dumbfounded.
“Yeah, I did,” Alex replied.
George nodded, letting it sink in. “You kissed me.”
“I did.”
“I don’t… why?”
“Well, the moment called for it,” Alex said sarcastically. “I like you George.”
“You like me? You’re a complete ass to me all of the time.”
“It’s because I like you. I didn’t ever want you to find out but then I heard you crying…”
“You kissed me.”
“You’re repeating yourself.”
“I’m aware of that, thank you,” George snapped, “what do expect, I…”
”Well did you like it?” Alex asked.
George looked away. “Alex…”
“Did you like it?”
“I… I … Yeah, I liked it.” He sat down on the sofa. “I liked it. How…”
“Does it matter?” Alex asked, sitting beside him. He leaned forward and kissed George again, and this time George kissed back.
He was amazed at how good Alex was at this, amazed at how he just melted when Alex’s tongue pushed against his own.
“Wow,” he said when Alex finally pulled away to let them both breath. “That was… um…”
“It was amazing,” Alex finished. “You have no idea how long I’ve waited to do that.” He grabbed George’s tee shirt and pulled it up over his head and kissed his chest as he pushed him down on the sofa.
“Alex,” George moaned as he tugged unsuccessfully at the other man’s vest. Alex pushed his hands away and removed the garment himself before returning his mouth to George’s chest, taking each nipple in turn into his mouth and gently biting them.
George giggled as Alex moved down and flicked his tongue over his belly button. “Do that again,” he whispered. Alex obliged then moved down further; removing the sweatpants that George wore to sleep in.
“What… what are you doing?” George asked.
Alex stopped when the sweatpants were at George’s ankles.
“George,” he said, “you’re lying on my sofa… naked… and you’re wondering what I’m doing?”
George smiled sheepishly and shrugged. “I’ve never done this before,” he explained, “not with another guy anyway.”
“Well I have,” Alex assured him, “you’re going to have to trust me. Can you do that?”
With out another word, George reached down, took hold of Alex’s hand and put it on his hardening cock. Alex smiled and rubbed it gently before lowering his head and kissing the tip then taking it in his mouth and sucking lightly, causing groans of pleasure to escape George’s mouth.
Any feelings of ambivalence George had about the situation had gone now and he was slowly bucking his hips causing his cock to go further into Alex’s mouth.
When Alex felt George’s body begin to spasm, he stopped and removed his tenting boxer shorts, so that he too was naked.
“Why’d you stop?” George asked him, sounding more than a little disappointed. Alex didn’t answer; he took George’s ankles and raised them above his head, lowered his face to his ass hole and slowly and gently began to lick. George moaned and whispered Alex’s name as Alex’s tongue entered him. When Alex was satisfied that George had been sufficiently lubricated, he took his middle finger and gently pushed passed the opening then pulled it back out again.
“How does that feel?” he asked as he repeated the process and gradually built up to three fingers.
“It feels kind of weird, but good weird. I can’t really put it into words, I…”
He was interrupted when Alex’s lips met his.
“Are you ready?” Alex asked, placing his cock at the very entrance of George’s hole.
“I guess so,” George replied.
With that, Alex pushed himself into George forcing them both to erupt into gasps of pleasure.
As Alex built up speed, they stared into each other’s eyes. There was a connection there that neither one of them had felt in such a long time.
“I’m going to cum,” Alex told him. George simply smiled and touched his face and he grinned when he began to feel Alex’s body spasm and then almost melted when he came inside of him.
Staying inside of George, Alex took hold of the other man’s cock and began to jack him off until he too came, shooting his hot white liquid up his chest.
Alex lay down on top of him and kissed him.
“That… that was…”
“That was awesome,” Alex finished as he rolled off of George and lay beside him on the sofa.

I'M THINKING OF EXTENDING THIS STORY, MAYBE ADD A FEW CHAPTERS, WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK?
