Mr. Monk Gets Hypnotized
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters appearing this this work.
This is my first submission, though I've written published works before.
I'm keeping the chapters short, because I hate reading long chapters. So here's for the guys like me.
I'm adding chapters as I write them, so I might be done tonight or tomorrow.
Please excuse typos and grammar errors for now. I haven't had time to proof-read yet.

When Natalie started work for Mr. Monk, she had never considered he would eventually find a place in her heart. At times she was jealous at the love for his dead wife Trudy that he clung to so strongly. She wished he would just let go and be at peace. Be with her.
Of course, Natalie knew she could never tell Adrian of her feelings. He would fire her and never talk to her again. Although they were annoying, she had become accustom to her boss's obsessive compulsive behaviors. In fact, he was beginning to rub off on her. She kept her house tidier and washed her hands more often. Every once in a while she would find herself straightening something.
After a few months of battling her feelings, Natalie finally convinced herself to let go. Adrian could never be happy being with her. However, she still wished she could somehow make him happy again, even if she didn't get what she wanted.
Weeks later, she was at Adrian's home going over a case. Well, Adrian was going over the case; she was watching TV. It was a special featuring a hypnotist.
"Mr. Monk, you have to come see this," she called.
"What could I possibly have to come see," he replied as he walked in the room.
"It's a hypnotist." As she finished her sentence, Adrian u-turned out of the room. She looked and called, "What is it?"
"I'm afraid of hypnotists," he called, in his usual nervous tone. "They can control your mind. It's just wrong."
Natalie got up and went to find him in the kitchen. "Oh, come on. It's just for fun. Nobody takes it that seriously."
"I take it seriously."
"Please, Mr. Monk. It's just a show. It's all staged anyway," Natalie pleaded.
With a twitch of the head, Monk followed her back to the TV. He sat and looked at the screen as if he was watching a horror film. Inside his head, he was terrified he would be accidentally hypnotized and not be able to snap out of it. He looked away from the TV and slightly changed his position exactly every 10 seconds.
On the show, the hypnotist had one person believing he was talking to his mom, who was really a complete stranger, and wanted to use the car to go out on a date. The "mom" had been hypnotized to believe her "son's" girlfriend wasn't good enough for him. A hilarious argument ensued.
After a minute or so of this particular scenario, Monk finally made a comment. "Can they really do that? Make you believe one person is actually another person?"
Natalie followed Adrian's thoughts. He wanted to see Trudy. To be with her. So what if it wasn't real? The feeling would be real to him. She answered, looking at him, feeling his pain. "I don't know, Mr. Monk. You never know if these shows are real or not."
Monk dropped his head, thinking . . fighting with himself. "If they can, would you . . ." He couldn't bring himself to finish, but Natalie knew what he was going to say.
"I would do anything for you, Adrian. You don't even have to ask."
Adrian looked at her, saying 'thank you' without saying it. As he looked away, he glanced at the case file that was open on the coffee table for a few brief seconds. "I just solved the case."
