Don't own 'em, Sigh!

"Isn't that Grissom's Denali?" Sara asked as she pulled into an
available parking spot at Susie's Diner.
"Yep, I believe it is, your powers of observation are astounding,"
Greg teased his co-worker.
"Maybe we should go somewhere else," she suggested as she let the
Tahoe idle.
"Don't be silly, he doesn't own the diner, besides why would
he care, anyway? He'll probably even ask us to sit with him.
No one likes to eat alone, Sara"
"That's not true, Greg, lots of people actually prefer eating
alone. And Grissom strikes me as one of those people."
Greg leaned over and cut the ignition. He swiftly pocketed
Sara's keys. "Come on already, I'm starving, malnourished
even." Sara rolled her eyes as she got out of the Tahoe.

Not in any hurry, Sara was content to let Greg lead the way.
Spotting the newspaper machines near the front door, she called
to Greg, "Hey wait up, I want to get this morning's paper."
"Yeah, grab me one will you."
"Why don't you just share mine."
"Because, you are going to have the machine open and why share
when I can have one for free."
"Because you little shit, that is called stealing and the last
time I checked we worked for the Clark County Sheriff's Department."
"Oh, come on Sara, you tellin' me you never stole nothin'"
"Nothin' but your heart, Greggo!"
"Uh-uh can't steal what someone is willing to give for free."
As they continued on into the diner, Sara perused the headlines.
As she studied the photo of a tractor-trailer collision on the fifteen,
she slammed hard into Greg's back.
"What the fu-," she started but when she saw what had grabbed Greg's
attention she became suddenly mute. Grissom was laughing out loud
at something Sofia had said. While the blonde flirtatiously tucked
a strand of hair behind her ear.
"You, uh, you wanna go somewhere else," Greg stammered.
Sara silently shook her head. She reached for Greg's hand and
pulled him on into the diner. She knew she had to sit down
and quickly before she lost her nerve. She practically dragged
Greg passed Grissom and Sofia to the last two seats at the end of the
bar.

Grissom smelled her before he saw her. It was a scent that could
be described in one two-syllable word, SA-RA. 'What is she doing
here,' he wondered to himself. His laughter had died off the second
the sensors in his brain picked up on her scent. Sofia was saying
something now but he couldn't make it out. Sara was getting closer.
Step by step he felt her, she was moving fast. Before he knew it she
blew right by him. Grissom nearly spilled his coffee in his lap when
he saw that she was holding hands with Greg.
"Gil, Gil," Sofia tried desparately to get Grissom's attention.
"I'm, I'm sorry what were you saying?"
"Oh, nothing really. So are Sidle and Sanders an item? I suppose
it makes sense. They're both young and quirky. It's cute really.
Geeks in love."
"What, no, I mean, they're not dating, not that I know of, I really
don't think he's her type."
"Well, I don't know looks like she's got him where she wants him. I
mean he seems well trained."
"He's not a dog, Sofia, anyway I have to get going. I hope you'll
think about staying with us."
"I appreciate that Gil, but I think it is time I moved on. Can I come
back to your place. We could finish our goodbyes so to speak."
She winked at Grissom suggestively and he was suddenly very aware
of her intentions.
"No, I don't think so," he declined. He simply wasn't interested in
a one night stand. That was something you did with a complete stranger,
not someone you knew. Besides at the moment he was too damned confused
about Sara's behavior towards Greg. Were they involved? Surely not,
but she couldn't wait around for him forever. He knew he would force her
to this eventually. But goddammit, she didn't have to do it right in
front of his face.
Sofia was upset to say the least. She didn't see the harm in a little
goodbye sex. But she hadn't really known Grissom long enough to know
that that wasn't his style. 'Oh, well, cut your losses,' she thought.
"Well, Gil, I had a nice time, and if you change your mind before I leave
Vegas, you know where to find me," she offered as she rose from the table.
Before walking out she leaned down and kissed him on the forehead,
"call that an appetizer."

Sara caught the kiss out of the corner of her eye. 'Okay, that was too
fucking much.' If he didn't want to be with her that was fine but fuck
him for acting like that in front of her. She hated him at that very
moment more than she had ever hated anyone in her life. More than Hank
for cheating, more than Catherine for being a bitch, more than Ecklie
for trying to fire her, more than her dad for beating her mom, and more
than her mom for killing her dad. She reached into her pocket fished
out a five dollar bill and slammed it on the counter to pay for her OJ.
Greg looked at her completely confused but said nothing as he saw the
anger burning behind her mocha eyes.
"Goodbye, Greg," she said as she picked up her ice water and walked
over to Grissom.
Grissom looked at her with his open-mouthed, 'I don't know what to do
about this,' stare.
Sara emptied her ice water into his lap, "You are unfucking believable.
Maybe this will cool you off, Loverboy, I guess you finally found someone
worth the risk."
Before Grissom could offer any argument, she had sent the glasses
crashing to the floor and fled the scene of the crime.
