Spoilers: Non, you watch the show otherwise what the hell are you doing here?

Notes: I wrote this pretty much after the season two opener “The Desperate Kingdom of Love.” My brain went somewhere else with Lucas’ letter. Just imagine the little lines of stars scattered throughout this fuclet as the white flashes of time forward or back that appeared in the ep.

Lucas looked at the list of names that Keith had written on the side of the refrigerator box.

“Dan’s an ass, you were an ass, my new teaching job, we both get a fresh start, your mother annihilated my heart, and this apartment has a killer view,” Keith said going through the names. “So what else?”

“Nathan,” Lucas said.

"Yeah, that marriage thing must have been tough for you," Keith said starting to write Nathan’s name under the long list of reasons to stay in Charleston.

“No, I meant for reasons to go back,” Lucas confessed.

Before leaving Tree Hill…

Lucas sat at the kitchen table in the house that he and his Mom shared and reread the letter for the fifth time. After a moments hesitation where he almost tore the letter up into little bits, instead he folded it up and put it into the envelope. He stared at the blank envelope for the longest time before addressing it.

"Nathan"

He sighed and continued to look at the letter. Part of him knew Nathan should never read it but the overruling sentiment said that he needed to know.

Nathan sat on the bench outside Karen’s Café. Haley was inside telling Karen what had happened. Even now he found it hard to believe himself.

He was married. He was married to Haley. He respected Haley so much.

Wait… respected? Yeah, sure he respected her, but for marriage there has to be some love as well, right? He loved Haley. He was sure he loved Haley. He looked over his shoulder at the café. Sure he was sure. He was about to stand and go in to be with Haley, his wife Haley when his phone rang.

"Hey, bubby bro," Lucas said. Nathan chuckled and leaned back on the bench.

"Bubby?" he questioned jokingly. "You'd be getting one hell of a spanking if you were here right now," he said still grinning. Lucas laughed and it made him grin more.

"So we're coming back," Lucas blurted out.

"Not because of me I hope?" Nathan quipped.

"Well I was kinda in the mood for a spanking," Lucas quipped right back. "But, nah, it's my Uncle Keith... and Dan."

"Why doesn't surprise me that even when he's unconscious he's still screwing up peoples lives."

“Yeah, well, it is what it is,” Lucas said. “So about this wedding…?” Lucas continued by changing the topic.

Lucas stood on the balcony of the apartment that he and Keith were to share looking out at the view.

He was fidgeting with something in his hands when Keith came up behind him.

“You won’t have a view like that in Tree Hill,” he said as Lucas shoved the thing he was fidgeting with into his front pants pocket.

“Yeah, one of the reasons to stay, right?” Lucas said and smiled looking at his Uncle who looked serious and nodded his head to Lucas’ jeans.

“So who’s the letter to?” he said mater-of-factly. Lucas flinched. “Brooke? Peyton? Haley?” he chuckled a bit. “Damn, and I thought I was bad with women. Geez, Luc, oh for three.”

“Yeah I guess, my basketball average was better, even with my shoulder,” Lucas said.

“So, I guess you’re trying to make your decision, huh,” Keith said looking out at the harbour view then he turned to his nephew. “I’d leave you out here to ponder some more but you’ve already been out here half the day and either you should be packing or helping me with the unpacking,” he said. “So, time’s up. No more thinking music, the survey says?”

Back in Tree Hill…

Lucas hadn’t even unpacked from the aborted move when he found himself at the door to Nathan’s apartment. Check that, Nathan and Haley’s apartment. He had the envelope in his hand but was fidgeting with it nervously.

“Just leave the letter and go. Let Nathan have the next move,” he said to himself. He turned to go realising he still had the letter in his hand. He looked down at it and ran his fingers over the name of the man he loved.

“Oh god, I love Nathan,” he said. It was what the letter said. Lucas had written it in full possession of all his faculties. He wasn’t drunk, he wasn’t sleepy when he wrote this. As a matter of fact after he’d finished writing it he was horny as hell. His hand went down the front of his pants and he’d jacked off thinking about Nathan.

“I’m insane,” Lucas said and went to go but the door opened behind him.

“Hey man,” Nathan’s voice sounded behind him. Lucas quickly shoved the letter into his pants.

"I was, just, umm," Lucas started to say but the sight of Nathan moist with nothing but a towel wrapped around him left him speechless.

"Come on in. I was just in the shower," Nathan said inviting Lucas in with a wave. "I need to change, I'm meeting Haley later at the Crescent." he finished and wondered into his bedroom. Lucas was compelled to follow.

The sight that met Lucas' eyes as he stood at Nate's door was beautiful.

Nathan had lost the towel and was bent over rummaging through a drawer for clothes.

Lucas watched mesmerised as Nathan’s ass pointed directly at him. He moved into the room and soon was cupping that sweet flesh in his hands. Nathan stood up and leaned into Lucas’ touch.

Lucas breathed heavily into Nathan’s neck, nuzzling and nibbling. He tasted so good, fresh from the shower but there was still that unique Nathan aroma that sent Lucas wild.

Lucas reached around, his hand grasping Nathan’s hardness. Nathan hissed at the touch and flexed his cock in Lucas’ grip.

“Luc?” Nathan called and snapped his fingers in front of Lucas’ face. “Yo, anyone home in there?”

“Woah, sorry, I totally zoned then,” Lucas said giving himself a mental and physical shake but realised how hard he was from the encounter. “Um, listen can I use your bathroom real quick,” he said as a blush was quickly starting to spread.

“Sure, but don’t take too long, I’ll be out the front finding my shoes when you’re done,” Nathan said brushing past Lucas. Lucas fought back the urge to grab Nathan and retreated to the bathroom.

Nathan padded out into the apartment in an attempt to find his shoes but instead found something else on the floor.

Lucas leaned on the washbasin and stared into the mirror.

“Get a grip,” he said to himself. “Nathan is interested in Haley. He married her,” Lucas blew out a breath. “Okay just go out there and leave, you can rip up the letter later,” he said then looked at the toilet beside him. “Or rip it up now and flush it down the drain, perfect,” Lucas smiled and reached into his pocket.

The letter wasn’t there.

“Oh fuck.”

Nathan sat on the sofa with an envelope in his hands. It looked a bit warn, but it had his name on it. Must have been from the house warming a few weeks back and it disappeared somewhere. Nathan opened the envelope.

Lucas stood in the bathroom with his pants and underwear around his ankles, his eight inches swinging freely, in the hopes that he’d missed his pocket or put the envelope into a pocket with a hole and the letter was inside his pants somewhere.

No luck.

“Oh fuck.”

Nathan read the letter through, then read it again. It was from Lucas. It was Lucas professing his love for him. Nathan had no idea that the feelings he had for his brother were the same Luc had for him.

Nathan read the letter again. The more he read it the more aroused he became.

“Wow, Lucas writes good,” Nathan whispered to himself.

“It’s okay, don’t panic, the letter is probably outside and you missed your pocket when Nate was stood at the door there, all moist and naked,” Lucas said to himself. “Yeah, that’d be it,” Lucas convinced himself, straightened himself up, and flushed the toilet before going back outside.

Nathan was dimly aware of the sound in the bathroom as he read Lucas’ letter again. It was the closing of the bathroom door that startled him. He looked around panicked for a place to hide the letter and went with the tried and true method of stuffing it behind the cushions of the sofa. Lucas came back out and Nathan stood from the sofa.

“Woah, Nate, I mean geez, Haley’s my best friend for crying out loud,” Lucas said pointing at Nathan’s tented pants. Nathan looked down surprised at the physical reaction of Lucas’ letter.

“I, um, yeah, can’t wait to get into that dark movie theatre,” Nathan said with a nervous chuckle. “Well okay, I’d better get going, can’t keep Haley waiting.”

“Yeah, of course,” Lucas said, his eyes darting around the room in the hopes he’d spy the letter and be able to grab it without Nathan intercepting.

“Um, you kinda have to leave, Luc, so I can lock up,” Nathan said, holding open the door.

“Yeah,” Lucas said scouring the floor with his eyes but not moving.

“You lost something man,” Nathan said. Lucas’ gaze shot to Nathan.

“Um, no, just, it’s, it’s okay, I can,” Lucas tried to say as he slowly walked to the door.

“Maybe you dropped the letter outside,” Nathan said without thinking.

“Yeah, you’re right, it’s probably out there,” Lucas said then stopped dead. “I think we need to talk,” he said. “Besides, you’re not going anywhere without shoes on.”

“Yeah,” Nathan said looking down at his bare feet. He slowly closed the door.

“So where do we stand?” Lucas asked.

“I don’t know where we stand,” Nathan almost exploded at Lucas. “My life is way too screwed up as it is to have me fall in love with my estranged brother who also happens to be best friends with my wife!” Nathan said, throwing up his hands. Lucas sat on the sofa and watched Nathan rant. “This makes Days Of Our Lives look tame,” he said and Lucas chuckled.

“What you think this is funny?” Nathan said looking at Lucas.

“Kinda,” Lucas said. “You watch Days of Our Lives,” he continued to laugh until he saw the look on Nathan’s face. “So, I’m the one who’s supposed to be the level headed one?” Lucas stood from the sofa, now on the defensive.

“And what the hell is that supposed to mean?” Nathan said, taking a threatening step forward. They hadn’t fought since that night in the woods with those hicks, but the way he was feeling now he was close to fighting again.

“Nathan, you’re a junior in high school and you’re married, for crying out loud,” Lucas yelled.

“Hey,” Nathan said tapping his chest. “I’m emancipated.”

“So that means you get to make stupid mistakes,” Lucas said. “You know that everyone will think that the Scott tradition lives on,” Lucas continued, pulling out the big guns. “You got married because Haley is pregnant.”

“You son of a bitch,” Nathan said then barrelled Lucas into the sofa which tipped back spilling them onto the floor. They rolled so Nathan was on top of Lucas. He threw a punch at Lucas who turned his head just in time and Nathan’s hand went crashing into the floor.

“You fucking asshole!’ Nathan screamed in pain. Lucas turned the tables so that he was now on top of Nathan.

“Just because you can live on your own and make decisions for yourself doesn’t mean they’re the right ones,” Lucas said and got up off Nathan and stalked away.

“And falling in love with you is the right choice?” Nathan asked, picking himself up from the floor and cradling his injured hand.

“What?” Lucas spun around at Nathan who realised what he’d just said.

“What I meant to say was-“ Nathan started but Lucas cut him off.

“No, no, no, you said you were falling in love with me,” Lucas said.

“Fuck you,” Nathan said getting some ice from the fridge for his hand.

“That can wait until later,” Lucas said looking at Nathan. “You said you loved me,” he grinned.

“No, I didn’t.”

“Um, yeah, ya did.”

“Well I meant to say Haley,” Nathan said, almost pouting and holding a washcloth filled with ice against his hand.

Lucas walked over to his brother sitting at the kitchen table, nursing his hand. He stood there for a moment then lifted Nathan’s head with a finger, leaned in, and kissed him.

Lucas went to break the kiss only to find that Nathan was standing up to keep the kiss going.

The kiss lasted until Nathan’s bedroom where Lucas removed his shirt shortly followed by Nathan’s assistance in removing Lucas’.

Pants and underwear found the floor next before they fell into bed together.

Warm bodies, eager mouths and tongues all seeking attention.

Nathan straddled Lucas, who reached out to caress Nathan’s chest. Nathan leaned in a kissed Lucas.

“Can this work?” Lucas asked breaking the kiss.

“True love can always triumph over adversary,” Nathan said. Lucas looked surprised and smiled. “What, you think all I’m good for is to look good in a basketball uniform?”

“No, I wouldn’t say that,” Lucas said absently playing with Nathan’s left nipple.

“No?” Nathan asked.

“No, I think you look a hell of a lot better out of a uniform,” he said and kissed Nathan again.
