“The Deal” – A Brian/Justin Fanfic

By Sevver

February 13, 2005

Author’s Note: Greetings fellow Queer as Folk fans. My first fic starts in a weird place. This would take place in the midst of the third season after Justin gets back together with Brian and dumps Ethan. No real “spoilers” are contained here.

Some of the information contained here may sound a little suspect. This is most likely because some of it, I obtained from reading the Queer as Folk novel. I apologize to the hardcore fans if the facts are a little off kilter.

Disclaimer: I don’t own any of these characters. Characters are property of their respective owners.

His soft sultry lips grazed the blonde’s mouth with tactful grace.

Brian embraced his lover like the sensitive flower that he was. He felt the delicate texture of his silky, creamy skin, and thought to himself, I’m so fortunate and so blessed to have a person this beautiful and statuesque in my presence.

After all, they had been through many things together, much of it his fault, putting his love’s heart through all this tribulation and unending sorrow.

He had however, made a tenuous promise to Justin that he would never hurt or deceive him the way he had countless times in the past.

The boy trusted him. Brian however knew he was himself undeserving of the love and affection that the blonde so clearly felt for him.

The affairs that he has had behind Justin’s back, and a few even in front of his face made him even more guilty and opened Brian’s heart up to the fact that his reprehensible behavior had driven his love away from him once. He would not let something like this happen again.

Although, at one time he would have been too distressed to verbally manifest his love and affirm his commitment to Justin, tonight was going to be different.

He had gotten past the discouraging events of his childhood that compelled him to produce barriers around himself minimizing the chances of him being injured emotionally.

When he was younger, Brian’s father made a habit of consuming at the bare minimum, six cans of beer a night. The young Kinney had made a habit of staying out his father’s way when he was on one of his rampages, but sometimes he or his mother would become caught up in it.

When his mother discovered that he was gay, being an evangelical Christian, she quickly condemned him and the lifestyle he was living, stereotyping all gay men as promiscuous individuals.

Brian’s parents never really loved him. Most of time his mother wished that she had never had him because of his sexual orientation. His father had died of cancer three years previously.

The only person who ever expressed the tenderness and warmth that he had always so richly yearned for was Justin.

That first night they had met under that street light on Liberty Avenue, Brian knew that twinkle in Justin’s eye meant something special.

Shortly after the blonde confessed his feelings, Brian coldly rebuffed Justin and labeled them “puppy-love”.

He was beginning to see just how dedicated the blonde was in his feelings for him.

Suddenly overcome with emotion, Brian grasped Justin with both hands, enveloping him.

He positioned his mouth next to the blonde’s ear and whispered, “ I love you, always have and always will”.

Justin’s eyes lit up as tears were released from them.

“I’ve been waiting so long to hear you utter those words”.

Brian smiled. “Savor the moment because this doesn’t change a thing”.

Justin chuckled, same old Brian.
