Kalan wanted out of the city.

It's not like he didn't like the city. He loved the city. He loved the city life. He loved the city people. He did not love the city lights.

The glow emanating from Toronto blocked out the pinpoints of light he knew were appearing in the August dusk. He sighed and leaned forward on the balcony of the Idol mansion, overlooking the pool. He watched as a few of his Idol companions swam around below him, occasional bouts of laughter or shouts echoing throughout the air, his back to two of his Idol companions who were sitting in deck chairs murmuring quietly to themselves.

Kalan sighed again and turned around to walk back to the chair he had vacated only moments before, throwing himself into it and slouched down with a grumpy expression on his face, folding his arms across his chest. Shane and Josh looked up from their conversation to eye the quiet boy. He looked very much like a child does when they don't get their way, and this was completely abnormal for Kalan.

Shane leaned over and placed his hand on the younger boy's shoulder. "You alright, Kay?" He asked, concern showing in his blue eyes. Kalan didn't answer; instead he looked up at the night sky and frowned.

Josh looked over at Kalan, then Shane, and then back to Kalan. He tousled Kalan's head of curls the way a brother would to another sibling. He leaned in closer. "Kalan, you can talk to us."

Kalan pulled away from Josh, just a tad annoyed with the physical contact. His face was bright red as he looked down at his folded arms. "I want to go for a drive." he mumbled, as he chewed on his bottom lip. He looked back up again, eyes taking in the hazy horizon. "I want to see the stars again. Real stars. The way we used to be able to see them on the ranch. I miss the ranch."

Josh looked from Kalan over to Shane. "What do you think? Take one of the convertibles for a spin?" Shane nodded his mute agreement, a twinkle in his eye. Josh grinned and then stood up. "Well, if we're going, we might as well go now!"

"What? Right now? I didn't think you'd want to." protested Kalan, as Josh and Shane pulled him out of his seat. At the raising of Shane's eyebrow though, he nodded and the three went into the house and down the grand staircase, and maneuvered their way through the maze of rooms to the four car garage.

Shane pushed open the door into the stuffy room, and the other two followed behind. They stood and examined the choices laid before them. "Which one?" he asked, as he turned around to the key rack on the wall, eyes skimming over the key sets.

"The convertible, I think." said Josh as he looked over the selection before him, his eyes finally resting on the red drop-top machine. "Mustang." Shane looked over the keys and reached out for the set engraved with the Ford emblem. Josh pointed. "Those ones."

Kalan made his way over to the car, and climbed into the middle seat. He always had a phobia of sitting where there was a door digging into his side. He couldn't quite remember why. Josh climbed into the driver's seat and Shane into the passenger seat on the other side of Kalan. And now he was pressed in between the bodies of the two older boys. Another phobia. Of being crowded. He tried to scrunch away from Josh, only to find he had no room as Shane was right there, on the other side. And he was in between the two of them.

He dug his teeth into his bottom lip as Josh leaned over him to turn on the radio. Quiet music drifted from the speakers in the car, and was soon drowned out as the engine roared to life. Beside him, Shane leaned back and placed his arm around Kalan's shoulder. Kalan blushed and tried to ignore the arm, instead focusing on the road in front of them as Josh pulled out of the drive.

They drove for what seemed hours, though it wasn't really. They drove North of the city and into the farmland of the surrounding area. Kalan felt trapped between the two older, sweaty males, and he himself was over heated and bright pink. He bit his lip and continued to stare out the front at the dirt road they had somehow found themselves on. Watching as the houses passed them by interchanged with patches of farmland here and there.

Josh finally turned the Mustang into a field full of timothy, and parked where they could clearly see the sky; unadulterated in every way, shape, and form. The navy canvas was stretched across the horizon; pinpoints of light dotted the plane of vision. Kalan sat up a bit from his slouched position and gazed with remembrance on the night sky.

Shane and Josh watched him and then looked up at the sky. They themselves enjoyed seeing stars as much as the next person, but couldn't understand Kalan's fascination with them. Perhaps it was because he was as silent as the pinpoints of light, standing out against the crowd the way they stood out against the night sky. He was in essence, a star, and they knew he'd go further than they would in the music industry.

Kalan sat there staring at the sky for another while, breathing in the fresh, crisp air as the radio played dimly in the background. Josh was watching Kalan from the corner of his eye, and Shane was rustling through the glove compartment of the vintage car.

"Hey!" he exclaimed, drawing the attention of Kalan and Josh. He held up a small rectangular piece of plastic. "I found a tape!"

"Neat," said Josh, reaching over Kalan to have a look at it, causing Kalan to inch back a bit to avoid the touch. And yet, Josh was right there, practically nose to cheek with him, his curly hair causing Kalan to feel like sneezing. He tried to back up a bit, and Josh turned his head in concern to Kalan's keening noises of back peddling.

He wasn't expecting for Kalan's lips to be in the same place as his.

And when he pulled away slightly, he certainly didn't expect for Kalan to lean forward and press into him even more.

He also did not expect for Kalan to wrap his arms around his neck and clamour into his lap, biting at his lips with hungry kisses.

Shane blinked and watched the scene before him with amusement and interest. And while he wouldn't be quick to admit it, with lust. He watched as Kalan hopped into Josh's lap and watched as Josh pulled the boy closer to him by means of his hands and Kalan's ass. He looked down a moment at the tape he held in his hand. The tape that caused this bizarre turn of events.

"from billy to ryan"

Shane blinked again and then cleared his throat. Kalan quickly hopped out of Josh's lap and into his original seat, cheeks flushed, hair a mess, and lips even more full than Shane could remember them. Shane blinked again and then looked down at the tape. He looked back up at them and handed the tape over. Kalan turned redder. Josh laughed.

"Who are these guys?" the curly-haired man asked, skimming over the title again before popping it in the cassette player.

Kalan and Shane looked at each other, a knowing look in their eyes.

"No one important." mumbled Kalan, looking down at his hands and blushing again.

Shane laughed. "I always knew ... there was always something a bit..." he paused and then laughed into the dash board. Kalan nibbled at his lip. Josh looked from Kalan to Shane and watched Shane with fascination. Josh didn't understand why he was laughing, or why Kalan had suddenly gone nervous and shy again, but at this point, it didn't matter.

What mattered was what he was hearing from the car speakers. He turned the volume up and heard two voices singing a very lewd song about driving certain things up certain people's.... Kalan reached over and shut off the volume before it got more detailed then that. He looked deep into Josh's eyes for a moment before feeling a hand on his shoulder.

He turned to face Shane who was still laughing quietly. He finally stopped and raised his head and locked eyes with Kalan. Kalan looked down and chewed on his lip, not daring to look back up into those mischievous eyes full of lust. When he did though, they were a lot closer and quite soon he felt Shane's warm, experienced lips mashing against his.

Pretty soon it was Shane crawling on top of him, pressing into his body. Kalan moaned into Shane's mouth as Shane ran his hand down the younger boy's chest and to the clasp of his jeans. He undid it and quickly yanked down the zipper, slipping his hand in Kalan's boxers and pulling out his erection.

Josh watched on, feeling himself growing in a certain region. It completely jerked to life when Kalan gasped into Shane's mouth. Soon though, Shane's mouth was occupied in other areas, and Josh reclaimed Kalan's mouth. While Josh's kisses were precise and sensuous, Kalan's were becoming miscalculated and misplaced. His breathing was becoming shallower and faster, and soon he was throwing his head back, his body racked with shudders and moans.

And when he finally reopened his eyes, a multitude of shooting stars blurred his vision, streaking across the night sky.
