...The boy's neurotic, thought the blonde rocker to himself as he watched the dark figure up on stage twitch about while he was singing. Billy willed for himself to turn his eyes away, away from the view on stage, but there was something about this competitor in the way that their eyes met, his eyes were so enticing, so .... Billy blinked. He couldn't think straight any more and leaned over to talk to the competitor sitting next to him, hoping to take his mind off the sight on stage. The thought nagging the back of his mind. The process drawing on his heart strings...
...Ryan looked down from the stage were he was auditioning to hopefully be chosen from the top 148 to go on. He was fidgeting slightly with a nervousness that, despite how many times he had performed before in his life, had never fully subsided. It lingered, and then heightened to its peak when his dark eyes met up with the seemingly rebel-rocker sitting close to the stage. He twitched slightly and looked away, but continued singing disregarding the lump forming in his stomach. By the time he looked back in the direction of the blonde, he had nonchalantly turned his head and was talking to someone else. Ryan kept singing, but was slightly upset the rocker wasn't focused entirely on him, for reasons he knew not...
...Ryan looked down at his feet and then over at Toya and then down at his feet again and then over at the camera and then at his feet again. Ben Mulroney had just announced that there was to be two people from the wild card show admitted into the top 11. Toya had just been admitted by a "hair". Would he get in? Would Kevin? Would he get in? He had to get in. Despite his blossoming friendship with Kevin, he had to get in. Had to go on. He felt bad, but he'd rather go through Canadian Idol with Billy than be sent home and have Kevin go through. He started when he heard his name called, and he hugged Toya. He was going on. And then the other contestants flooded out of the orange room, and he found himself clinging on to Billy...
...the warm summer breeze blew across Billy's face as he tried to escape from Ryan, tripping and rolling over the sand. He laughed heartily and quickly jumped to his feet, just in time to meet with a huge purple water noodle that Ryan sent his way. The purple Styrofoam made a loud "smack" sound, and stung slightly as it connected with Billy's leg flesh. Billy dove into the sand again, trying to avoid anything else Ryan was sending his way. Ryan stood doubled over laughing, and then looked up into Billy's eyes. And they both went silent. And would have done so for a while, slightly drawing nearer. Nearer. Ever closer. So close, and then -
"Hey guys!" shouted Jon Dore, "Join the group! This isn't Billy and Ryan time!"
- they stared longingly at each other and then sighed resignedly and walked over to where the rest of the remaining Idols were playing various beach-type games...
...Ryan walked outside at the mansion where the blonde rocker was leaning against the railing with his back to the approaching man, silently puffing on a cigarette and sipping on a freshly opened can of beer. Ryan silently pressed his lips to Billy's neck and Billy moaned in pleasure. Putting out his cigarette stub, he turned to face Ryan and they pressed their lips together in a battle for control. It wasn't the first time, and it certainly wouldn't be the last...
...top three results show night. The tension was in the air. The screaming of the crowd. The cutting out of the sound system. The nervousness of the remaining competitors. Billy and Ryan looked nervously at each other. There was a great chance one of them would be going home, and both suspected it would be himself. And then -
"Billy Klippert ... you're going home." murmured Ben Mulroney.
- Billy was dumbstruck. He wasn't going on. He turned to face Ryan, signs of tears in his eyes. Ryan drew him into a hug, which Gary soon joined in on. But the was wasn't for Gary. The hug was for Billy. And for Ryan. Something beautiful they had going on, of which Canadian Idol had created, and now Canadian Idol was destroying. They knew it would come to this. But they still had a chance. Always had a chance...
...finale night. Stolen glances during group numbers. Silent looks of love and encouragement. And then Ryan was given the title of Canadian Idol. He hugged Gary for a moment, but was soon engulfed in a tight hug by Billy, not to be released for what was mere seconds, but felt like eternity. Ryan didn't want to be let go. Never let go, he thought, as Billy whispered sweet words into his ears, and cried silent tears of congratulations. He didn't want the Canadian Idol title at all. He never had...
...all Ryan had ever wanted was Billy. And all he had ever wanted was now gone. And as he stood on stage, the crowd roaring and cheering, and the dying notes of Something More resounded throughout the building, Ryan had flash backs of his time together with Billy. And yet, despite everything, the one prominent thing he thought back on was the day at the beach. With the purple water noodle. But it was all a haze now…
