The New Girl

Disclaimer: I do not own the television series that this fanfiction is written for, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.

Couples: Max/OFC, Michael/OFC, Isabel/Kyle

Disclaimer: Characters of Roswell: I own them not. Sarah is mine and so are Jess and Will. Got some music in here, I changed some lyrics here and there but I still don’t own the songs.

Notes: Takes place in season 2 but the whole hybrid chronicles hasn’t taken place. Oh one more thing, Sarah is a singer and the first song is kinda hard to follow cause I have it broken up where she sings one line then a guy sings one and they go back and forth so you might have to pay attention, its not vital to the story so you don’t HAVE to read it, k? Feedback gives me a happy!

Max and Michael walked up the stairs to Roswell high school returning from lunch.

“There’s a new girl.” Max said as they entered the building.

“That’s what Isabel said. You seen her yet?” Michael asked.

“No. Liz told me we have Chem with her. I talked to Kyle, he’s gonna ask his dad to check her out for us. We just need to get the basics. Where she lived before, her parent’s names.”

“Alright. So what’s the plan?”

“Let’s just find out who she is, then we’ll go from there.”

The day seemed to crawl by. Max, Michael, Maria, Liz, and Tess had Chemistry together the last period of the day. When it finally rolled around Max made his way to class.

“Max. Hey Max! Wait up.” He turned to see Jessica Rolf jogging toward him.

“Hey Jess.”

“Hi, Max. Here’s your notes. Thanks for the loan.” She said.

“It’s no problem.”

They entered the class together as the bell rung. Max went to sit at his lab with Liz and he watched Jess join the new girl at her lab, which was to the direct right of Max. Her back was turned so he could only see her waist length dark brown hair.

“Class. We have a new student. This is Sarah Crawford, she’s joining us from New York City.”

“Whoa.” Liz whispered.

“What?” Max asked.

“Sarah Crawford.”

“What about her?”

“She's practically like an Urban Legend around here. I'm surprised you've never heard the story. She used to live here, in Roswell. When she was five she was in the car with her parents and they wrecked. Hit a tree head on going about 50. The car was completely mangled and both of her parents died. The scene was well, messy.”

“And?”

“Like I said it messy. I mean the car just caved in around them. Her parents were cut to shreds, so was the back seat where she was sitting.” Liz said as she discreetly pointed to Sarah. “But she was found not far from the car without a scratch on her. Even if she managed to not get hurt when they crashed she should have at least gotten scratched when she crawled out.”

“Whoa.”

“Yeah.”

They sat through the class waiting for the dismissal bell to ring. Finally it did and Max watched Jess and Sarah walk out together. He said goodbye to Liz and walked to where Michael was waiting for him and explained to the other boy about the car wreck and how after it she was sent to New York to live with her Grandmother.

“Then I guess we should check her out after all.” Michael said.

“Why?” Max asked.

“The whole car wreck thing isn’t normal. I think something happened. Maybe she knows.” Michael explained.

“Let’s just try to find out a little more about her before we do anything else, ok?” Max suggested.

Michael nodded. “Think we should follow her and see where she lives?” He asked.

“You don’t need to.” Kyle said from behind them. “She lives in your building, Michael.”

“What?” Michael and Max both asked.

“My dad went on the net to Roswell Real-estate and apartment 314 in your building is the only thing that has changed hands in the past month.”

“That’s right down the hall from me.” Michael said.

“Thanks Kyle.” Max said.

“Not a problem. Are you guys going to be at the Crashdown later?”

“Yeah.” Max said.

“Probably.” Michael told him.

“Alright, later.”

“See ya, Kyle.” Max said.

"It's weird, isn't it, that she just so happens to be moving into my building." Michael asked.

Max thought for a moment then shook his head. "Not really, if you think about it. Decent apartments with dirt cheap rent. The only place like it in town."

Michael just shrugged.

Ten minutes later Max dropped Michael off at his building. He walked across the street and saw a moving van and Jess and Sarah unloading boxes.

“Ladies.” Michael said as he approached. Jess looked up and smiled but Sarah continued examining boxes.

“Hi Michael. What are you doing here?” Jess asked.

“I live here. Apartment 310. You?”

“Oh, I’m helping Sarah move her stuff in. It just arrived.” She said as she picked up a box.

“Cool.” He walked over to Sarah who still hadn’t acknowledged his presence. “Hi. I’m Michael Guerin.”

She raised her head and looked him over then held out her hand. “Sarah Crawford.”

Michael was stunned. She was gorgeous. He hadn’t really gotten a good look at her until now. She had big green eyes, long dark hair, and her skin was milky white. He regained some sense and shook her hand then asked, “You girls need some help?”

“No. We got it.” Sarah said then picked up a box and went into the building.

“Don’t mind her. She’s still adjusting and Sarah isn’t really a people person.” Jess apologized.

“You two seem to be close.” Michael said.

“Well, she used to live here and we were friends. When she moved our parents helped us stay in touch until we were old enough to do it ourselves. She would visit me in the summer from time to time and we talked on the phone almost every night.”

He nodded and asked. “Why aren’t her parents helping you guys?”

“Oh, well.” She seemed to think for a minute. “She doesn’t live with her parents. She’s emancipated. You are too, aren’t you?”

He nodded.

“Well, I should get going. We still have a lot to do. Bye Michael.”

“Bye, Jess.”

About an hour later he heard the door to Sarah’s apartment close. They had kept it open so it would be easier to move things in. He looked out the window and saw the doors to the moving van shut. He crept out into the hall and walked quietly down until he was in front of Sarah’s apartment door. The walls and doors of the building were all thin so he didn’t have too much trouble hearing the girl’s conversation.

“So. Tell me what you saw today.” He heard Jess say.

“What do you mean?” Sarah asked.

“Oh come on Sarah. I want to know what you saw and who you noticed.”

“Why?”

“Because I want to be amazed by your powers of observation. You notice stuff no one else does and I know you have to have your eye on one of the tasty guys.”

Sarah laughed and shook her head. “Alright. Tell me when I’m wrong and how close I get.”

What the hell are they talking about? Michael wondered.

“Ok. Let’s see…”

After a while of listening to Sarah go class by class pointing out things about different people he was amazed. This girl noticed everything.

“You are so good!” Jess said. “Ok, now chem.”

“Holy fuck! That class is like a soap opera!”

“How so?”

“Well first we have Parker and Evans. Could there be more tension between them! My guess is that they used to date then broke up and are trying to be friends.”

“Bingo. From what I hear you’re right on.”

“Then we have that pretty blonde, what’s her name?”

“Um, Heather?” Jess asked.

“No.”

“Tess?”

“Yeah! There is something going on between her and Evans. But I don’t know what. She definitely has a thing for him.”

“Well, that’s speculation. Can’t verify it. Anything else?”

“Michael and Deluca. Used to date then broke up and now they don’t know what’s going on. But she is obviously jonesing for him.”

“Survey says? Right again. So who is the next stalking victim?” Jess asked.

“I do not stalk.”

“Then what do you call it?”

“I don’t follow guys around or peep in their windows. If a guy I happen to notice is in the same room as me I watch, is that so bad.”

“I guess not, but you need to open up a little. So who is it?”

“No one.” Sarah said quickly.

“Oh come on. I know that look, you’ve got someone on radar. Who is it?”

“I did notice someone but I don’t have a crush or anything. I just happened to notice a guy.”

“Well who?”

“My new neighbor.” Sarah said quietly.

“MICHAEL?!?!?!” Jess practically shouted.

“SHHH! Yes.”

Really? Michael thought as he smiled.

“You’re right, Michael’s hot but why else. I know you’re not the ‘just looks’ kind of girl.”

“Well I know this is going to sound cheesy but Michael’s different. Special. There’s something about him that is really unique and he has that bad boy vibe that gets me every time.”

He heard Jess laugh. “What is it with you and the bad boy thing? But you’re right. I think you should go for it.”

“What? Michael? No way.”

“Why not?”

“A: Maria likes him and I won’t move in on someone else’s claim.”

“Maria doesn’t own him.”

“B: He wouldn’t be into me.”

“You’ll never know unless you try. You need to open up a little. You have a lot going for you.”

“Excuse me, you are the same person who said I was a social alien, emotionally retarded, and hormonally challenged due to being sexually deprived aren’t you? Hmm, maybe I’ll have to rethink that peeping in windows thing.”

He heard both girls laugh, then Jess say, “Yeah but I think you have a chance with him.”

“Believe me, I don’t.”

“Oh, Sarah. I think…”

“What time is it?” Sarah asked effectively ending the conversation.

“Almost six. You should start getting ready. Want me to do your hair?”

“Of course. I have to be at Jetz at 7:45 so we better get a move on.”

“Kay. Go get a shower and get dressed. I’ll make us something to eat.”

“Alright. Thanks.”
