Chapter Eight
Zak was soaking wet as he stood in the pouring rain. It fell, and it fell, and it just kept on falling down. With the way his heart was hurting, it did not look like it was going to let up anytime soon. He wanted the whole sky to weep with his pain.
His cell phone began to ring for the tenth time and he simply continued to ignore the damn thing. He was not in the mood to listen to some whore bitch him out for disappearing without a word or note.
It was probably Morgan. He was always trying to be his shadow. The man needed to jump off a short cliff. He was so damn annoying.
It was dark and he was simply walking along the side of the road. He had no clue where he was going. His feet were just carrying him forward.
All he could think about was that desolate look he had seen on Clark’s face before he had run off. That stupid farmboy was such an idiot.
“Ah!” He yelled, kicking a rock out of his way. “I just want to punch you in the face, you idiot, Clark!”
Why didn’t you just tell him how you felt? Doesn’t that make you an even bigger idiot? You now know he’s ‘in’ love with you, but, he does not know that you are ‘in’ love with him.
“Oh, shut up with your logic!” He hissed at his inner voice that was starting to piss him off even more. “He has to tell me, damn it!”
Why?
“Because,” Zak snarled, clawing at the wet sky, “Because I want to be the fucking girl, damn it!”
His cell phone began to ring once more.
“What?” He practically yelled into the person’s poor ear.
“Where the hell are you?” A serious tone suddenly yelled back. “Do you have any idea what that Sea Witch would do if I lost you and something terrible happened to you?”
“I’m not in the mood, Morgan,” he said, trying not to sound all whiney. “Why don’t you go stick your head in a fish tank full of electric eels or piranha? Oh, even better, how about both?”
“Funny,” Morgan seethed. “Where the hell are you?”
“I don’t know,” Zak hissed, looking around. “I see a fence, a dead tree, and a rock in the road.”
“Oh my god!” Morgan cried. “You’re out walking in this weather? I’m dead!”
“Well, that’s one thorn out of my side,” Zak said. “Now please pass on over into the ever after and leave me alone.”
“I’m coming to find you,” Morgan said. “This town is the size of a shit hole. It can’t be that hard.”
Zak rolled his eyes. “You’re going to get lost, too.”
“I doubt it,” Morgan said. “I have Mr. Tom with me.”
Zak hated GPS. It only confused him more.
Well, he knew exactly where he was at. But, that did not mean he had to tell Morgan.
“You have fun with that,” Zak said. “And I’ll just keep on walking.”
“You’re going to be the death of me, Zak,” Morgan hissed.
“I pray so every day, Morgan,” he said.
“When I find you,” his assistant said. “I’m going to put a shock collar around your neck.”
Zak’s nostrils flared and snapped his phone shut, turning it off. Oh, he was pissed now.
Lightning split the sky with an angry green flash.

Clark was in his loft, curled up on his sofa, listening to the pouring rain hit the tin roof. He had left his truck in town, along with Zak. He was such a horrible alien beast. He had left his friend stranded in town without a vehicle to get home in.
The blondes’ car was still parked out front and his parents had no idea he was home. He could go back for the truck later.
Zak had probably called the castle and had someone come and get him. He didn’t really know. All he did know was that Zak could take care of himself. The guy could actually walk on water and make it do his bidding.
There was no way he could face Zak now. He was such a coward. There was no way Zak would return the feelings he had for the blond.
It made him sick to his stomach to even think about the many ways Zak could reject his perverse love. He actually thought he was going to throw up, if such a thing were possible for him to do.
“I love you,” Zak had said.
“I love you, too.”
Wait! What if Zak had meant it the way he had secretly hoped he had meant it in that moment? What if Zak was ‘in’ love with him, too?
He put the cover over his head. He was too afraid to find out. He did not think his heart could handle it.
He had punched his fist through a tree on the way home, and now he felt bad about doing so, too. The tree had never done anything to him, and it had been really pretty, too. It had offered shade and all that good stuff. He hoped he hadn’t killed it.
He pulled the cover around himself tight. He just wanted to stay here and hide.
Those green eyes had looked so hurt. There was no way he could face them. They would eat him for breakfast.
When Zak got angry…the world trembled and groaned in terror. Well, at least Clark’s world did anyway.
“Oh, god,” he moaned, rolling over, yelping as he fell off the sofa with a loud thud.

“I hate you, god,” Zak hissed when he spotted headlights heading for him. “I can’t believe you allowed that little bitch to find me.”
The black car put on its brakes and a voice shouted. “I’ve found you!”
“Congratulations, dickhead,” Zak smiled evilly. “Now, go drive your car off a bridge and into a river of acid.”
Morgan narrowed his brown eyes. “Get in the car, Zak.”
“I don’t think I will,” Zak said. “I’m quite upset and I might have a diva moment and maim your ass.”
“Don’t make me pull out my dart gun,” Morgan said, reaching for the glove box.
Zak took a step back from the window. “You wouldn’t dare do that again?”
“Try me,” Morgan challenged. “I suggest you get in or you’re going to wind up on your face again.”
It would be so easy to drown his ass. He could put a ball of water around his head, and watch him drown.
Oh, even better. He could make him drown on his own spit.
“Do you know what percent the human body is made up of water?” Zak asked him in his pleasant voice.
Morgan shook his head. “Not a clue.”
“Well, I don’t really know myself,” Zak said, seriously thinking about causing all his blood to seep from his pores like sweat. “But I hear it’s about the same as the earth.”
“Is that so?” Morgan asked, still looking at him out his window. “Now, please be a good princess and get in the car.”
Zak’s left eye twitched. “I told you not to call me that, slave.”
“I’m sorry, master,” Morgan seethed. “Now, get in the car.”
“Fine,” Zak snapped angrily, walking around the side.
“Oh, no,” Morgan said, leaning his head out the window. “I’m not stupid. I learn from my mistakes. You’re sitting up front with me.”
“Damn,” Zak hissed, walking back around.

Clark appeared beside his truck in a whoosh, getting inside. He put his seatbelt on and just sat there for a few minutes, thinking things over in his head.
Should he go to the mansion? It was going on ten o’clock. Would Zak be in the bed? Would Zak even want to see him?
Well, it was really late. Oh, he didn’t know. He hated this.
Why didn’t you just tell him how you really felt, you dumb ass?
“I was afraid!” He hissed at his reflection in the rearview mirror. “And don’t call me names. You’re just insulting yourself, too. Plus, it’s not very nice either.”
And neither is it ‘nice’ to leave your famous friend all alone in town where ‘other’ meteor freaks are, too. He could get himself into trouble, you know.
Clark snorted.
“Zak can take care of himself, trust me,” he told himself. “If he can pull a Jesus, he can probably part the ocean, too, if the mood strikes him.”
The image of Zak parting an ocean made him tremble a little. Just how powerful was his friend? What was the extent of his aquatic powers?
Hmm, you’re right. He can probably drown people in their own spit.
“Oh,” Clark said, starting the engine. “That could be interesting.”
He shook his head. Why the hell was he talking to himself? He really should start wearing an earpiece. That way people wouldn’t think he was crazy or something. He could just pretend that he was talking to someone who wanted to talk to him.
Well, quit pussy footing around, you alien freak. Go tell that sexy stud how you feel already.
“All right,” Clark yelled, pulling out. “You don’t have to call me names, ass hole.”
He wondered if his birth parents suffered from mental illness.

Zak made his way into Alexander Luthor’s study and looked around. The castle was such a big place and he had gotten lost twice just trying to come here from his room where he had just changed out of his wet clothes. He was an important guest, so he had free reign of the whole place.
He looked to see that there was a piano in the room with him. That made him smile as the rain hit the window outside.
He walked over to it, sat down, and put his hands on the ivory keys. He began to give them a good tickle.
8888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888
Clark knocked on the big wooden door and a young woman answered, recognizing him. She was pretty and had a warm smile.
“Ah, Mr. Kent,” she said, ushering him inside out of the monsoon. “It is late and Mr. Luthor is not here. Is something the matter?”
“I’m not here to see Lex,” he said, hearing the sound of the piano being played from far away. It was echoing ever so sweetly down the long hall. “I’m here to see Zak.”
“Who?” She asked, pretending not to know what he was talking about. “There is nobody here by that name, Mr. Kent.”
She was strictly told not to reveal to anyone that a super star was residing within the walls of the castle.
“We were childhood friends, Anne,” he said, looking at her with big blue eyes. “He was my best friend. His red car is parked at my house. We had an argument and I’m here to apologize.”
Oh, thinkin’ about our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
Anne looked into those sad blue eyes and saw something haunting in their depths. There was a sweet happiness that was being drowned in salty tears of sadness.
That heavenly voice seemed to fill the whole castle with its sweet melody.
“He is in the study,” she said, stepping aside to let him pass.
Clark gave her a small smile. “Thank you.”
Now nothing can take you away from me
We’ve been down that road before
But that’s over now
You keep me coming back for more
She watched him slowly make his way down the hall, dripping water as he went. She shook her head. She was going to have to clean that up, too.
It was odd though. She had never seen that look in his eyes before in all the time she has known him.
It was the look of someone in love and being terrified of rejection.
Baby you’re all that I want
When you’re lying here in my arms
I’m finding it hard to believe
We’re in heaven
Clark slowly made his way up to the doors that would take him right into the study where Zak was singing. His heart was thundering in his chest. He was terrified that it was going to explode.
They would find his body lying outside the door in an untidy heap where he just toppled over dead from a heart attack.
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn’t too hard to see
We’re in Heaven
He put his hands up to the door and took a deep breath. He could do this. He was strong. But, he would die if Zak was to reject him. He would fall over dead right there at his feet, too.
Oh, once in your life you find someone
Who will turn your world around
Pick you up when you’re feeling down
He quietly opened the double doors and strolled in on silent feet to see that Zak had his back to him. He was sitting at the piano, making those ivory keys sing right along with him in perfect harmony.
Now nothing can change what you mean to me
There’s a lot that I can say
But just hold me now
Cause our love with light the way
Those beautiful white hands were tickling those ivory keys to perfection and he saw that Zak had no shirt on either. He could see his beautiful butterfly wings that were all black and cerulean against glowing white flesh in the pale light. He wanted to run the tip of his tongue up the blondes’ straight spine.
Baby you’re all that I want
When you’re lying here in my arms
I’m finding it hard to believe
We’re in Heaven
He walked towards his friend on silent feet, mesmerized by his siren song. He felt like a sailor at sea who had just rammed his ship upon the jagged rocks. He longed to take him in his arms and just hold him tight against his chest. He was the first to jump overboard into the deadly waves.
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn’t too hard to see
We’re in Heaven
Zak made his fingers dance across the keys like magic. He was pouring all the pain he was feeling into the song, and it was so beautiful even to his ears.
He threw his head back, blond locks shining in the light.
I’ve been waiting for so long
Something to arrive along
Love to come along
He nearly jumped out of his lily white skin when he felt a pair of strong arms wrap around his waist. But, he instantly knew whose they belonged to. The scent of hay and a tinge of apple gave him away.
Tears leaked from jade green eyes. Was he dreaming? He had to be. A ghost of what could have been was here, tormenting him.
“I love you,” Clark whispered into his ear, warm breath tickling him. “Tell me that you love me, too, Zaky.”
Now our dreams are coming true
Through the good times and the bad
I’ll be standing there by you
Clark could not help but to smile. He rested his chin on Zak’s left shoulder, planting a gentle kiss on his cheek, squeezing him tight.
Baby you’re all that I want
When you’re holding me in your arms
I’m finding it hard to believe
We’re in Heaven
The rain outside began to die. It was as if the storm had finally blown itself out.
Moonlight began to shine in on the two of them.
Love is all that I need
And I find it there in your heart
It isn’t too hard to see
We’re in Heaven
Zak turned his head to the side, taking Clark’s lips with his own. The taste of Clark was just as he remembered. His soul was as bright as the sun and his love was just as hot.
Zak moaned and slowly pulled his lips away from the furnace that was consuming him.
“I love you, Clark,” he said, taking his hands off the piano, and turning to throw his arms around his neck. “I’ve always loved you.”
Clark stood up, holding him in his arms, kissing him with all his might.
“Oh, my goodness,” a surprised voice said from the door.
Both teens turned to see who it was.
“Lex,” Clark gawked.
Lex was just as in shock as the farmboy was. “Howdy.”
Zak put his hand up to cup a rosy golden cheek.
