Secret Revealed
Chapter 9: Secret Revealed
Lois Lane was walking just past Lex's office, when she heard her boss laugh out loud. What has gotten you in such a laughing mood, eh, Lex? She thought as she decided to knock on his door. "Come in." Lex's voice came from the other end of the door and watched as the door opened.
"Miss Lane, what a pleasant surprise! Do you have that article that I asked for?" Lex asked her, eyes trained on her as she strode into the room and watched the door close.
"Uhm..." Lois started to reply, but Lex held up a hand. "Hold that thought, I was just about to get some food for all of you, can't work on an empty stomach now can we?" Lex asked, as he got up from behind his desk and shooed her out of his office, his computer still on. Lex had been working longer with all of his employees, so he knew damn well what kind of food or type of coffee they liked.
"Okay, Lex, see you soon!" Lois called after her boss, just standing there outside her boss's office. Come on, Lane, you know you desperately want to find out why he laughed! Now that he's gone, all the secrets are there for the taking! Lois Lane thought, as a second later she burst into his office and seated herself down behind Lex's computer. There was a window called "Jan's House" and without thinking twice, she clicked on it. The window appeared, fully maximized to fill the entire screen... but all she saw was blank.
What would Lex want with Jan's house? Lois thought as she clicked on the link. A prompt came on. Username: Lex Luthor. Password?
Lois typed away, first typing in her lovers name, clarkkent. Access denied, try again? She clicked on Try Again, and then typed chloesullivan, once again the Access denied, try again? screen came on. "Arrgh, Lex, what is your password?" She shouted out to no one in particulair. Now she typed in lanalang.
"WELCOME BACK, LEX LUTHOR. START LAST FEED OR START A NEW ONE?" appeared on the screen. Lois grinned. "Yes!" She said, and moved the mouse to click on the button that said "Start Last Feed".
What followed next made her sick! There were two people, a man and a woman, making love, a song of BRITNEY SPEARS of all the music in the world playing in the background!!
"Whoever chose that song, clearly has bad taste in music." Lois commented, and then saw the female, identified the female as Kara! "OH MY GOD, Jimmy's not going to like this!" Jan, how the hell did you become like this? She thought angrily. She had never thought one of her fellow co-workers would ever pull a stunt like this. "Oh, and wait till Clark finds out." Lois said to herself, quickly logging out of the camera feed and didn't fully close the window, just clicked on the _ icon to minimize the window.
She jumped out of her seat and went straight back towards her desk.... although that is where she intended to go to. Instead she slammed against Jimmy.
"Oh, hey, Jimmy... I mean, James.... Jimmy.... oh what the hell..." Lois muttered, clearly nervous at meeting the boyfriend whose girlfriend she had just seen make love to with Jimmy's best friend. "What's that Lois? Running the marathon or something? You've been doing great, that is, until you crashed into me." Jimmy said, dusting himself off as he had stood up from the ground.
Lois looked around the room and found nobody there, it was just the two of them. "Uhm... Jimmy, there's something I need to tell you. You're not going to like this, but.... well, I.... you see...."
"Out with it, Lois, I don't have all day you know!" Jimmy said, wanting to go back to work. Yet he could take a little breather from the hectic work he had to do for Lex.
"Kara's screwing Jan." Lois blurted out. "Oh, that." Jimmy said. "Yeah, I already figured that out back at the club." Jimmy said softly, but still audible to Lois. Lois's hands went straight for Jimmy's shoulders and enveloped him in a hug. "You know I'll always be there for you as a friend, right? And Clark will be too." Jimmy returned the hug and felt tears stain his cheeks. Why couldn't he take it like a man and fight back? Fight back for Kara?
"I don't know what Lex would do with keeping tabs on Jan's house..."
"WHAT?" Jimmy asked, his head shooting up toward hers.
"Well, I just found a camera feed that broadcasts live action from Jan's house...." Lois said, choosing her words NOT carefully and thinking how it must affect Jimmy more.
"Sorry for my choice of words, Jimmy, but it's true. That's how I discovered their sordid affair." Lois explained, hands leaving Jimmy's shoulders and stepped back from him.
"I think Clark should have a talk with Kara, providing she can find it in herself to leave Jan's house..." Lois said, not finishing that sentence.
Clark, by use of his superhearing, and unintentionally, had heard everything that was being said...
