Chapter 9

All I Ask of You

"Rodney, I'm fine."

"-never have trusted Carson to treat you properly, you're still bleeding-"

"I'm fine."

"-his voodoo medicine, ha! You'll probably get some infection-" Rachel sighed and crossed her arms over her chest, turned her head away and focused on ignoring Rodney since he didn't seem to be in any mood to listen to her.

"Carson." Her voice was sharp, trying to get his attention. The man in question sighed and walked over to her bed, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes?"

"Would you please tell-"

"Carson!" Rodney wagged an accusing finger in his face. "You had better not let Rachel get some type of infection because you were negligent in her care and so help me if-"

"Rodney. For the last time. All Rachel has is a slight concussion. She'll be fine to leave when her blood results are back and the nice nurse has checked over Rachel's bandages again." Carson turned and walked away, not giving Rodney a chance to find something else to accuse him about.

"Rodney, please. I'm fine, ok? All I have is a headache and a great need to just go to a bed, John's bed most likely, because I know that you're going to try to lock him in your room." Rodney huffed and crossed his arms over his chest, glaring at the passing nurses, knowing that they were withholding Rachel's blood results just to make him mad. He was sure of it.

Rachel rolled her eyes and crossed her legs as she waited.

~

Rachel sighed happily, snuggling into the comfortable blankets on John's bed, glaring at Rodney as he moved around John's room anxiously.

"Are you sure you're all right?"

"Yes, Rodney."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Rodney."

"Are you-"

"Rodney! I'm fine. I'm just tired. Please, just let me be, ok? Go find John and fuck his brains out or something, I'm tired," she whined at the end. A soft smile graced Rodney's face as he leaned over Rachel and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.

"Call me if you need anything, ok?" Rachel nodded, her eyelids already closing in anticipation of sleeping.

"Or, if, you know, you want, you can call Radek. I'm sure he'll have happy to do something for you if you asked him nicely." Rachel smiled.

"Thanks, Rodney." Rodney 'hmm'ed and Rachel sighed again as she heard the door whishing open and shut, leaving her alone.

~

"Radek."

Radek and the rest of the science department had spent the better part of the past three days fixing the Atlantis systems, getting them back up and in perfect working oder. Currently, he was down in the chair room with three other scientists, fixing the circuits and replacing the crystals in the systems. He jumped, well, twitched, really, in surprise when his name was whispered to close to his ear.

Scratch that. Not next to his ear, in his ear. He sighed and tapped his ear piece.

"What?"

"Come play?"

"I'm busy."

"Please?" Radek mutter in Czech, looking skyward.

"In a few minutes. I am almost done." There was a pleased sounding hum, but no verbal response.

~

Radek rubbed a hand over his face as he walked through the halls of the personnel quarters and stopped in front of John's rooms. He didn't have time to chime the door when it whished open and he was pulled inside and pounced upon.

"Wha-" Lips were crushed against his, quieting any protest he was going to make. There was a snicker off to his left and he struggled to pull away, but gave up and instead, focused on the kiss.

When the person pulled back he was able to look into the brightly smiling face of Rachel and he sighed, giving her 'the look' that clearly told him he didn't approve of her actions. She sighed and looked over to the source of the earlier snicker. Radek glared at Rodney and John as they lounged on John's bed.

"Rodney, I have told you-"

"And I've told you, Radek, a thousand times, it doesn't matter that we're 'married,' because we both know that the only thing that says we're married is a stupid little piece of paper." Radek crossed his arms over his chest and Rachel pouted.

"Radek," she whined.

"No." Rodney sighed and slid from the bed, he picked up a data pad from the bedside table and held it out to Radek.

"Read this." Radek took it and his eyes widened.

"You can't be serious."

"Actually, I can be. As of oh-eight-hundred, Rachel and I are no longer married. We're divorced. Of course, the only ones who know that are us four, Teyla, Ronon and Elizabeth. No one at the SGC knows about it, so there'll be no questions asked and Rachel will be allowed to stay here for the benefit of her 'husband.'" Rachel smiled again and took the data pad from Radek, giving it back to Rodney.

"So, you see, Radek, I can now do this," she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him deeply, her tongue trespassing into his mouth easily, "without you getting mad because I'm some 'married woman'," she finished as she pulled back. Radek swallowed.

"Rodney, I hate you."

"What? Why?" he spluttered.

"Because now Rachel will have no restraints as she tries her best to kill me with surprise attacks, demanding physical attention." Radek raised an amused eyebrow at Rodney as he smirked. John snorted, coming over to stand behind Rodney, wrapping his arms around his waist and resting his chin on Rodney's shoulders.

"We're so sorry to inconvenience you, Radek," he tried to say with a straight face. Rachel smiled happily and decided that now was the right moment to shove Radek towards the bed and claim him like any good Cave Woman would do.

"Oh, god, my eyes!" Rodney said melodramatically as he made a show of backing out of the room, covering his eyes with his hands. John laughed, pushing Rodney out of the way, making him stumble as the two of them retreated to Rodney's room to do some claiming of their own.

End.
