Life Gone Wrong

Alex came walking into the recovery room and Jay was still at Emma side. “The cops are here Jay they want to talk to us about Nick,” Alex said causing him to nod his head.

“I’ll be back sweetie,” Jay said kissing the top of her forehead. They came walking out the door seeing the others answering the detective question.

“Are you her boyfriend?” The detective asked.

“Yeah,” Jay said placing his hand in his pocket.

“What can you tell us about Nick?” The detective asked.

“The guy is a complete psycho,” Jay began. “He raped the beautiful girl in there and tonight he stabbed her I know he did,” he said in a firm voice.

“How come there wasn’t a rape reported on Ms. Nelson?” The detective asked.

“Because she just wanted to forget,” Jay replied. “She didn’t want to have to see him again and he hadn’t been bother us for awhile but I know it was him,” he replied firmly.

“Will be calling him in for question,” the detective said. “Thank you for all your help,” he said in a firm voice before walking out of the room.

The nurses and doctors went running into the recovery room when a loud beep was heard.
”She’s in code blue!” A nurse yelled bring in a crash cart.

“Emma!” Jay yelled running into the room.

“You’re going to have to step out,” the nurse said pushing him toward the door.

“Please save her,” Jay replied in a soft voice. “She’s all I have,” he said with tears in his eyes. The nurses pushed him out of the room and went back over to her.

“It’s going to be okay Jay,” Manny replied coming over to her. “That girl in there she is a fighter she’ll never give up,” she said in a firm voice.

“I hope your right,” Jay said watching them work on her through the window.

The doctor came walking out of the room and went over to them. “She’s stabilized I’ll be checking in a few hours if she can breath on her own,” the doctor said. “Keep talking to her kid I think it’s helping,” he said before walking away from them.

Jay came walking into the room and sat on the side of her bed. “Hey baby,” Jay said in a soft voice and grabbed onto her hand. “Listen I need you to come back to me okay I need you in my life,” he said with tears in his eyes. “Please,” he said resting his head on the bed.

The doctor came walking back into the room a few hours later ready to take the tube out of her throat. “Okay,” the doctor said causing Jay to move away. “You shouldn’t see this,” he said looking over at them.

“No we want to be here,” Jay said looking at all the others who nodded. They watched him pull them tube out of her throat and some turned away.

“Okay we wait a few minute if she doesn’t break we have to put it back in,” the doctor said looking at her chest waiting for it to rise.

“Come on baby breath,” Jay said walking to the side of her bed. “Come on Emma you can do it I know you can,” he said grabbing her hand.

The monitor was flat line but then they heard a soft beep and the doctor head shot up. “She is breathing,” the doctor replied.

“You did it,” Jay said stroking her forehead as the doctor checked her out. Emma’s eyes slowly fluttered open a few hours later.

“Jay,” Emma said feeling a pain in her throat. “My throat hurts,” she said rubbing her neck.

“I know baby,” Jay replied. “They put a tube down your throat to help you breath but you finally breathed on your own,” he said smiling.

“Where is he?” Emma asked with fear in her eyes.

“They are looking for him right now,” Jay replied. “But your friend didn’t make it,” he said causing her to tear up but then she realized his birthday party.

“I am sorry I messed up your birthday,” Emma said softly.

“That doesn’t even matter this is the best gift I could of asked for,” Jay said kissing her forehead and she smiled up at him.

“Hey Emma!” Manny said coming in with the others.

“Hey,” Emma said smiling at him.

“We’re glad your okay,” Sean said standing next to her.

“Thanks,” Emma said softly. “But I am really hungry,” she said sitting up.

“The doctor says you can’t eat for another three hours,” Alex replied. “But I can get you some water if you want,” she said smiling.

“That would be nice,” Emma said causing the girls to walk out. “When can I go home then?” She asked anxiously.

“Babe your going to have to stay in here for a least three days till your would heals,” Jay said causing her to sigh deeply.

“Man,” Emma said throwing her head back. “This sucks,” she said firmly.

“Miss Nelson,” the detective said coming into the room. “Glad to here that you are okay,” he said in a firm voice. “Can you tell me the name of the person who stabbed you?” He asked.

“It was Nick,” Emma said nodding her head.

“That him,” the detective showed her a picture.

“Yeah that’s him,” Emma said firmly.

“He’s going to jail Emma he can’t hurt you anymore,” the detective replied. “I will be calling to have you testify in court,” he said before walking out.

Emma was released from the hospital three days later and was on best rest for the next couple of days. Jay waited on her hand and foot he didn’t want her to go anything that she didn’t have to do on her own. She of course hated having to rely on others being that she was so independent. “Here some breakfast babe,” Jay said coming to her with food.

“Thanks,” Emma said sitting up in bed a little and he placed the food on her lap. “I love you so much,” she said giving him a small kiss.

“I love you too,” Jay said running his hand along her face. “I got to go to work today but um I having Manny come over to watch you,” he said in a low voice.

“I know but just humor me okay,” Jay said kissing her forehead and heard a knock at the door and he went to go get it. “She’s here,” he said coming back in. “I love you and I’ll be back around five,” he said kissing her on the last time before leaving.

“You are really lucky,” Manny said sitting on the bed. “Jay’s been so good to you,” she said with a smile on her face.

“I know I don’t know what I do without him,” Emma said smiling with her friend. She went to eat her breakfast and try to keep to her daily routine.

Sean came into his shop later that day to meet his friend for a quick lunch. They were sitting their in silence and he looked over at him.
“What’s the matter man?” Sean asked in a soft voice.

“Look,” Jay said pulling something out of his pocket. It was a picture of a single princess diamond cut ring with a gold band.

“Jay this is so sudden,” Sean said jokingly and placing his hand to his chest.

“Seriously man?” Jay replied looking at his friend.

“Are you sure you want to get married this soon?” Sean asked. “I mean you’re only going to be a senior in high school and she is a junior,” he said firmly.

“I am not going to ask her right now,” Jay replied. “I have a friend who’s father works at a jewelry store and is putting this on hold for me until I can come up with the money to pay him and I am going to pop the question on valentines day,” he said smiling.

“You’re serious,” Sean said laughing. “I am happy for you man,” he said gripping his shoulder.

“I just hope that she says yes,” Jay said looking down at his food.

“She will,” Sean said going back to his food. Jay came home later that day and Manny left to go back to her house.

“Hey baby,” Jay said sitting at the edge of her bed. “I missed you,” he said kissing her.

Jay watched her walk over to him in that beautiful dress and he grabbed her hands. “You look amazing,” Jay whispered into her ear.

“Dearly beloved,” the preacher began. “We are gathered here today in the sight of God to bring this man and this woman in holy matrimony if anyone objects to this wedding please speak now or forever hold your peace,” he said only receiving silence.

“Do you Jason Hogart take this woman Emma Nelson to be your wedded wife to your promise to love her, honor her, keep yourself only for her in sickness and in health as long as you both shall live?” The preacher asked looking at him.

“I do,” Jay said smiling at her.
“Do you Emma Nelson take this man Jay Hogart to be your wedded husband to you promise to love him, honor him, and keep yourself only for him in sickness and in health as long as you both shall live?” The preacher asked looking down at her.

“I do,” Emma said with tears in her eyes.

“The rings,” the preacher said causing them to turn to their friends.

“Jason repeat after me,” the preacher began. “With this ring I thy wed,” he said.

“With this ring I thy wed,” Jay said slipping the band on her finger.

“Emma repeat after me,” the preacher said looking at her. “With this ring I thy wed,” he said.

“By the power invested in me by the state of Toronto I now pronounce you man and wife you may kiss the bride,” he said smiling at the husband.

Jay pulled her into a passionate kiss and she wrapped her arms around his neck. Their friends and family cheered for them as they walked back down the isle together. They headed to their wedding party at their place.

“How does it feel to be Ms. Emma Hogart?” Jay asked dancing with his wife.

“Not bad,” Emma said with a smile on her face. “I love you,” she said softly.

“I love you too,” Jay replied. “Now and forever,” he said kissing her softly. They knew they would have their ups and downs like always but no matter what they would always have each other. Forever.
