ch 9

The alarm went off and he damn near jumped out of his skin. He was having one of his sweet dreams of Sara. He tended to dream of Sara a lot lately. Usually he would wake up with the urge to go to the brothel, instead, he went to the bathroom and masturbated with his thoughts of Sara. This was progress.

The therapist suggested that he talk to Sara. Speak words to her. He jumped in the cold shower to freshen up for work. He got out of the shower, got dressed and headed for work feeling good about going there. He was beginning to enjoy going to work again. More progress.

Sara sat in the AV Lab alone. She preferred to be alone when she wrote her emails to Grissom. She didn’t want anyone else to know what she was doing. She was giddy as she logged into the computer. She was really starting to enjoy the prospect of where this was going. She just hoped it was sincerity not just a game they were playing.

Sara perked her head up as the song began in the background on the radio. She got up to turn it up.

The world was on fire No one could save me but you.
Strange what desire will make foolish people do
I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you
And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you

No, I don't want to fall in love This love is only gonna break your heart
No, I don't want to fall in love This love is only gonna break your heart
With you With you

What a wicked game you play To make me feel this way
What a wicked thing to do To let me dream of you
What a wicked thing to say You never felt this way
What a wicked thing to do To make me dream of you
v And I don't wanna fall in love This love is only gonna break your heart
And I don't want to fall in love This love is only gonna break your heart

Nobody loves no one

A tear slipped down her face, Wicked Game she sighed. I hope that’s not what this is. She wiped the solitary tear from her cheek. Grissom would never do that to me, not again not now. Happy with her self-talk she plastered a smile on her face. She smiled as she typed: Sara looked at her computer again before typing: I forgave you a long time ago, Griss. She clicked send and went to join her coworkers in the break room.

He ran into his office and logged onto his computer. This was his new routine. He hadn’t been to the Brothel in days, not since his last S-A meeting. This was a big step. He still had the urge, but he was able to control it a bit better. His only worry was relationships general. He needed to learn to enjoy love and making love instead of the numbing sex he had been having for years.

The computer blinked New Message; those two words made him smile every day. He opened it up to read what was inside.

Grissom,

I forgave you a long time ago, Griss.

Sara

He went to work on responding to her. He decided that he wanted to ask for a meeting with her, a meeting where they would talk, rather than email.

Sara,

I'm not sure if this is moving too fast, I hope not, but can we get together to talk in person. It would mean a lot to me.

Grissom

He clicked send. His heart was pounding in his chest. Have I gone too far? Will I chase her away? He got up and ran to the bathroom. He couldn’t resist the urge. Too many emotions were clouding his judgement.

Walking in the bathroom, he perched in his stall, lubricant in hand. You don’t have to do this. GO talk to Sara, say ‘hi’, and ask her about the weather. Anything. He got up, washed his hands and went back to his office. He threw the lubricant into the drawer and went to find his crew.

They were all in the break room waiting for him. “Assignments aren’t out yet, it’s still early.” He looked at his watch, “It’s over an hour before shift starts, and they will be up in a while.” He looked at Greg and Sara. He walked over to Sara and looked at her. “How have you been?” He asked. “It’s been a while since we talked.”

She nodded. “Yes it has, by the way I’m good, thanks.”

His heart was fluttering in his chest as he ran back into his office to hide until he had to pass out assignments.

Sara bit her lip as she sat in front of her keyboard. Hesitantly, she started to type: Grissom, What do you think about working together tonight? I was trying to remember when the last time was, and I came up empty-handed. You know how much that bugs me, right? :D Hoping you’ll say yes. We can’t talk back and forth like this forever. Sara

Grissom,

Sara

He went to work on responding to her. He decided that he was going to pair them together tonight. They would work together.

Sara,

I hope you will be okay with this. I want us to work together tonight. I hope you will agree when I mention it. I didn’t want to spring it on you. If it is too much, let me know and I will pair you with someone else.
