Chapter 8
Chapter 8: Future – The Fírinne’s Mission
Previous chapter…
“… ‘Okay, I can agree to that. So—why are you here?’ The young woman said letting her curiosity get the better of her as she sat in her chair and watched as the Guardian walked to the bookcase behind her desk close to the window looking out on a sunny day on the base.”
Chapter 8…
“Time is about to be altered drastically because of the choices your parents are making right now in their time. We cannot interfere so completely so I have come to you seeing as one of the choices they will make will affect your past and future as well. All the good your parents do, all the good their Justice League, all the good you will do…will be for not if things aren’t changed and soon.”
“So, because you Guardians have sworn not to interfere you’ve come to me hoping that because of my own parents’ choices I won’t let myself become extinct. That I won’t let their good go undone because of some stupid mistake. Well, Ganthet for once your Guardian meddling is coming in handy because your right I won’t let those things happen, my survival instinct won’t let me.”
“I’m glad. Here is what you will need in the time you’re going back to. You will have to integrate yourself in their world; I do not know why these choices are made. You must learn that and prevent it,” Ganthet said as he placed a letter envelope on her desk and disappeared with another ripple.
The young woman took the envelope in her hands just staring at it for a moment, but when her hands started to fade and the envelope fell to the desk slipping all the documents and papers within she knew she had to hurry and make a decision. She let the fading and dizziness pass and then checked over the papers she found; a Daily Planet paper with the front page headline of “The Red Blue Blur Says Goodbye”, papers giving her a cover and history, money from that time so she could pay for things she would need and so on.
Late that night found as the full moon shined into the office the young woman pulling on a body-length black leather jacket on over her outfit just as Imra, Garth and Rokk stepped into the room forming a three person line.
“You called us, Fírrine?” Imra’s melodic voice asked.
“Oh, please. We’re off the clock now, Imra call me by my name.”
“Alright, Ariel…you called us?”
“Yes, I did. It seems the time line has been altered drastically and I must go back and fix it personally. I am leaving you three in charge…oh Rokk don’t get to excited your still on base duty for 2 weeks so you won’t be helping Imra or Garth until your punishment is done with.” Ariel stated when she saw Rokk stand just a bit straighter at her earlier comment.
Then she continued on, “I don’t know how long I’ll be but I will be back so don’t think to shrug your duties, any of you.”
“Yes, Ma’am,” all three chorused.
“Good.”
Grabbing a duffle bag off her desk she raised her hand with the Legion ring on it in a fist and with a flash of white light she was off to the 21st century to fix the universe’s problem as well as her own.
