Chapter Seven
The Underworld was in complete and total chaos now that the new Source of all evil was dead. Power struggles and vanquishing was happening all over, and the Seer felt like pulling all of her hair out.
She punched her fist into a mirror making a pretty decent crack in it, “Damn that witch for dying,” she shrieked, “None of this would be happening if it was not for that stupid being in love bull crap!”
She walked across the room to the stand where the Grimoure was kept, “Now I have another Surce to make,” she cried,” When it should be me!”
She ran her hands through her hair fighting the urge to just yank it all out as she gazed at the power before her and not being able to reach out and take it. All the power of evil resided in this book since the Source was vanquished. The power that could have been hers had that witch bitch not gone and got her self and the baby killed.
The Source’s son was going to be a problem. There was no known way to kill him. The little brat was indestructible. She could always hold that beautiful little witch over his head but that would more than likely get her killed, and that would just not be good at all.
She sat down in her chair and rested her head in her hands as she thought of a way to use the witch against Phyre, when all of sudden the Underworld began to shake. She got to her feet in an instant wondering what the hell was going on now.
Objects were falling all around her as the very stones seemed to groan and cry out in fear. She looked all around her self as she heard cries coming from all over. Whatever the hell was going on it must be pretty damn bad.
She walked over to the mirror realizing that it would not work now since she broke it. She put her hand on the crack, “The Underworld only shook when,” she thought to herself and then her eyes went wide,” Oh shit!”
She hissed and flashed away in an instant.
**********************************************************
She appeared in a chamber where the council of demons met with the Grimoure in her arms. A demon to the left of her cried out and exploded in flames as another to her right cried out and died as well.
The council of demons were on their feet looking around with energy balls ready to vanquish whatever this new threat was. The Seer shouted, “You fools, put your powers away!”
A deep demonic voice filled with power and amusement filled the chamber as if coming from the very stones, “You better do as she says.”
The Seer watched as a council member cried out and exploded into dust. The other members quickly extinguished their energy balls and looked around in terror at who had the power to vanquish a council member.
The Seer along with the council cried out as the enter chamber began to quake violently. A great roar of flames filled the center of the room and all looked to see and hear, “I’m home!”
The Seer was in awe of the demon that stood with his back to her. This was indeed the son of the Source. She fell to her knees, “My lord.”
Phyre turned his deliciously dark gaze upon her and gave her a fanged smile, “Seer.”
She looked up at him and her breath went away. This demon radiated power and anger towards them all. This demon had to be the most beautiful creature she had ever laid eyes on. His skin was the color of the ripest cherry and contrasted mystically with his long raven locks. His horns were black and glossy curling around his temples. She could not take her eyes off the symbol that took up most of his exquisite chest. It was of a black diamond with an eight right in the center.
Phyre cocked his head to the side and gazed at the Seer with eyes that were now darker than his fathers, “Give me the book.”
All the council members were on their feet, “Don’t you dare!”
The Seer stood, “Silence fools!”
“You forget your place Seer,” One shouted.
The Seer hissed, “This is the son of the Source, show some respect.”
The council members all gaped like fish out of water as Phyre turned to smile at them, “What,” he asked, “No hugs?”
A council member took his seat and all the others did at well, “Welcome home Phyre,” a voice said and a demon flamed in to take his seat at the center of the council, “We was wondering when you would show up.”
Phyre grinned like it was Yule, “I’ve come to take what’s mine.”
Whispers and murmurs went all out in the room as demons flamed and flashed in, “And what would that be?”
The Seer rolled her eyes and Phyre said, “To take my father’s place.”
The council erupted, “Never,” they cried, “You left!”
Phyre’s eyes suddenly bled black fire, “Have a care, Dex.”
The demon Dex paled at the look Phyre was giving him. The Seer cleared her throat and stepped forward with the Grimoure in hand, “This is our new Source.”
“He is in love with a witch,” a female demon cried out, “And a charmed one at that!”
Phyre spun around and she exploded in flames as the council shouted, “He will never be the Source!”
Another spoke up, “The last Source was vanquished by his charmed lover.”
Phyre smiled darkly, “I grew up with this one though.”
The council actually simmered down at that, “Explain this to us.”
Phyre told them about being with him as a child and living with Phoenix in Smallville, and Metropolis. The council mumbled amongst themselves and some even seemed to brighten at the prospect of having a charmed one that would not turn back to good on their side.
The head councilman bowed his head and said, “We have had this happen before. What’s to say it won’t happen again?”
Phyre smiled, “I have till midnight tonight to turn him evil forever. All I have to do is get him to use his powers to hurt a human and then he’s mine forever.”
The high councilman looked awestruck, “The twenty four hour window.”
All the demons seemed to consider this and the tension in the room was making the Seer even more nervous. She looked up to hear the high councilman say, “Turn him before the clock strikes midnight and the Underworld is yours.”
Phyre smiled wickedly, “The Underworld was mine the moment my father brought me here.” He however did not tell them that the only reason he was doing this was so that Phoenix would forever be safe and have great power over the demons of the Underworld.
The ground began to quake and groan as if in agony and Phyre laughed evilly and was gone in a rush of flames darker than night. All the council members looked at each other in worry and the Seer quickly regained her composure and looked up as the high councilman announced, “Make ready for the crowning of a new,” he hesitated and then said shaken, “A new Source.”
The Seer nodded her head and gripped the Grimoure tightly, “As you say.” She flashed out to prepare for the crowning ceremony and to try and plot her new plan that was not coming together well at all. She really must be losing her touch.

Phoenix yawned deeply as he got out of his car in the parking lot of P3. It was empty save for the familiar green bug and a black SUV. He looked around wondering where the hell everyone was at.
He walked across the lot to the door and saw that of course it was open and went inside. He made his way down the steps to see Piper behind the counter cleaning up some glasses and Paige was sitting at the counter looking at a magazine.
Both looked over to see him walking down the stairs as he asked, “Where is everybody?”
Piper put the glass down and walked out from behind the bar, “I sent them home.”
Phoenix’s mouth fell open, “Why?”
“Close that mouth young man, you’ll attract flies,” Piper told him taking a seat, “We need to have a little chat.”
Paige smiled warmly at him, “Don’t mind her,” she said, “She did this to me to.”
“Did what,” he asked, “What’s going on?”
Piper looked at him sadly, “Have you had any weird experiences in the past two days?”
“Well, now that you mention it,” Phoenix said walking over, “Clark actually made his side of the bed this morning.”
Piper and Paige both looked at each other, “Who?”
Phoenix always loved this part, “My boyfriend.”
Piper choked on her Pepsi and Paige let out a snort. Phoenix could not help but laugh slightly as Piper fought with the napkin dispenser so she could clean herself off, “You’re serious?”
Phoenix just looked at her and nodded, “Yeah, he actually made his side of the bed,” and then put a finger to his mouth and pouted, “I wonder if he’s done something again?”
Piper rolled her eyes, “Not that!”
Paige laughed out loud, “Piper, calm down.”
“So,” Phoenix said, “What’s up?”
Piper could not help it, “Well, now that we know your gay and a witch,” she said, “A whole hell of a lot.”
Phoenix laughed, “Wow, that has got to be one of the kindest words any stranger has ever called me.”
Paige pinched her shoulder causing her older sister to yelp and say, “Phoenix, about yesterday.”
“I want to say I’m sorry,” he told them, “That was really rude of me. I should not have left like I did.”
Paige smiled and got up to motion for him to sit at the table with her. Piper stayed seated at the bar watching, “I’m going to show you something Phoenix and I want you to promise not to freak out.”
Phoenix looked at them nervously, “You two aren’t trying to sell me drugs are you?”
Piper laughed out loud as Paige shook her head, “No, nothing as safe as that.”
He just looked at her, “Then what,” only for her to vanish in swirling blue lights and then came back to be seated next to Piper at the bar.
Phoenix just sat there. He was not in shock, well, not really. He suddenly bit his lower lip and did the same thing. Piper and Paige got to their feet with wide eyes as he appeared back in his seat.
“How did you do that so easily,” Paige asked all bewildered.
“I’ve always been able to do it,” he told her, “Ever since I was sixteen.”
Piper took another drink, “Sixteen?”
He nodded his head, “Yeah.”
Paige looked at Piper and then back at him, “What else can you do?”
Phoenix had no idea why he was being so open to these girls. Maybe it was because he so sleepy, or maybe it was from shock that Clark actually made his side of the bed this morning. Paige was just like him. He looked at Paige, “I started to get these weird images in my head of scary things happening to people,” he told them, “Yesterday I floated two feet above the floor in my bedroom before I came to this city.”
Why did he just tell them that? Was he crazy? He was brought back by Paige saying to Piper, “He has Phoebe’s powers and can orb like a whitelighter.”
Piper looked at him with a critical eye that made him feel nervous, “What made you decide to just get up one day and decide to come to San Francisco?”
Phoenix looked down at his hands to see that he had shredded three napkins already, “I had a nightmare.”
Both walked over and set down next to him, “Tell us about it.”
He looked at them timidly from being under Piper’s intense gaze, “I saw three women, and one was your sister Phoebe. There was this man in this glowing bubble. She was chanting and then he exploded violently. I heard her scream and I woke up.”
Both Paige and Piper looked at each other and Piper punched and clawed the sob back, “Anything else?”
He thought for a minute and then said, “I had a flash of this room with a stained glass window. There was this really big book on the podium with this symbol,” he said picking up a napkin and pencil and drew it for them.
Paige smiled, “I drew the same thing all the time when I was younger, its called the Triquatra.”
Phoenix looked at the symbol, “Yeah, and then this woman came in. Her face was all in shadow. Some creature was there waiting for her and it blew her up.”
Piper asked, “What did this creature look like?”
Phoenix thought for a second and decided to be truthful, “Handsome as hell.”
“That does narrow it down a bit, “Piper said, “Physical characteristics?”
Phoenix nodded and counted off on his fingers, “Red skin, black hair, glossy black horns, a symbol of a diamond with an eight in the center that took up most of his chest.”
Piper jumped up, “We need to get to the house now!”
“What’s going on,” Phoenix asked getting up to.
Paige put her hands on both her siblings, “We’ll explain when we get there.”
He was about to protest but they were suddenly gone in a swirl of blue lights.
********************************************************
Phoenix suddenly found himself in the room from his vision. The two objects that he first saw was the stained glass window and the big book that was resting on the podium. He jumped when he heard a noise come from behind him thinking it was the creature only to see Piper and Paige walk by him to the book.
He was not in shock. At least, he did not think he was in shock, “I can’t believe this.”
Paige looked over at him, “In all honesty, neither could I, at first.”
“What do you mean,” he asked.
She smiled warmly, “We’re witches, and so are you.”
He started to laugh, “Very funny.”
Piper nodded her head, “It gets better to,” she told him, “You’re out brother to.”
His laughter came to a stop and he narrowed his eyes at Piper, “That’s not funny.”
“I didn’t mean for it to be,” Piper told him as she shouted at the ceiling, “Mom!”
He looked up and then jumped back as swirling white lights filled the room and he saw a beautiful woman standing in front of him smiling sadly, “My baby.”
Phoenix shook his head and just stared at the woman who was all transparent, “What?”
She took a step towards him and held out her hand as she slowly became corporeal, “My, how you’ve grown.”
He took a step back looking around with wild green eyes, “Who are you? What is this?” Smallville was coming back to haunt him now.
Patty looked over at her two daughters, “You mean to tell me you have not told him yet?”
Piper shrugged her shoulders, “We were kind of pressed for time,” she said, “He can orb and has Phoebe’s powers.”
Patty knew her daughter was in pain from losing both the sisters she grew up with but now was not the time to be sloppy, “Phoenix,” Patty said getting his attention back, “I’m your mother.”
Phoenix just looked at her as if he had just stepped into a Star Wars film, “Martha Kent is my mother.”
“I’m your biological mother,” she told him as he looked back at her bewildered.
All of a sudden Phoenix remembered his dad’s words from all those years ago, “You’re something beautiful. You come from angels.”
Tears fell from his eyes, “Are you an angel?”
Piper snorted and looked at Paige, “He should be a comedian.”
Paige told her to hush.
Patty walked over to her son and put a hand on his shoulder, “I am a witch,” she said kindly, “Your father is a whitelighter which technically is an angel.”
Phoenix was not looking at her but at the hand on his shoulder, “This is crazy.”
“No,” Patty said, “It’s not.”
She wiped away the tear in his eyes and smiled, “Piper is your half sister, and Paige is your twin.”
Phoenix’s eyes grew wide, “My twin?”
Patty smiled, “Of course you’re not identical but you were born one right after the other with Paige being the older.”
Paige had not known that as she thought to herself, “This makes me the middle child.”
Phoenix did not know what to think or say. He really needed to find Clark as Piper said, “He had a boyfriend.”
Patty smiled, “Really?”
Phoenix looked up kind of sheepishly, “Yeah.”
“What’s his name,” she asked.
“Clark.”
“What does he do for a living,” Paige asked him.
“He’s a reporter for the Daily Planet,” he told them.
Patty smiled, “Sounds exciting.”
Piper tried to sound patient but couldn’t, “We have a demon problem.”
Patty turned to look at her, “What?”
“And I can’t seem to find it the Book of Shadows,” she said.
Patty bit her thumbnail, “Huh.”
She then looked up at the ceiling and shouted, “Mother!”
Phoenix watched as another bright swirl of lights filled the room and a regal elderly woman stood there, “A homosexual, who would have thought?”
“Mother,” Patty snapped.
“What, what, I have nothing against it,” Grams bit back.
Piper rolled her eyes and snapped, “People,” she yelled snapping her fingers at them, “Focus!”
“Right,” Grams said, “So, you can’t find this handsome demon Phoenix was talking about.”
She looked back at Phoenix who was looking at her, “What were you touching when you had this vision?”
Phoenix thought for a moment and then said, “My boyfriend’s hand.”
All four of the ladies looked at each other and he had no idea what the hell was going on so he just asked, “What?”
Grams looked at him with a sad expression, “My poor boy.”
Patty quickly said, “Now mother, don’t jump to conclusions.”
“What did you see in that vision,” Grams asked him.
“I saw a red creature kill a woman in this room,” he told her and then got what they meant, “No, I’ve been with Clark for years, it’s not him.”
Paige put a hand on a trembling shoulder, “Its ok.”
Phoenix pulled away from her, “I don’t even know you people.”
Grams was looking at him with sympathy, “Being betrayed hurts, I know.”
Phoenix glared daggers at her, “Look lady, I don’t know who you think you are!”
He was cut off by, “Don’t you speak to your grandmother in that tone of voice young man!”
He turned to look at the woman who said she was his biological mother, “I’m leaving.”
“Not out that door you’re not,” Piper said, “I sealed it.”
Phoenix spun around smiling and then teleported away in blue lights. Everyone in the room turned to look at Piper who snapped, “Ok, so I forgot about that.”
“Now what do we do,” Paige asked.
Grams turned on them both, “You better find him before that demon does, otherwise he might turn.”
Piper let out an exasperated, “Shit.”
“Watch your mouth,” Patty snapped.
Piper stuck her tongue out at her as Paige said, “He might go back for his car at P3.”
Piper grabbed her hand, “Let’s go!”
******************************************************
Phoenix appeared in the driver seat of his car and just sat there in shock. He laid his head down on the wheel and closed his eyes, talking slow breaths to calm him self. Maybe these people were trying to trick him. Meteor freaks did it all the time to him and Lana in the past. Witches, angels, demons, it all seemed so unreal and yet he saw it all, well not the demons, but everything else.
He lifted his head up and laid back against the seat and then quickly checked the back seat before he put his seat belt on. One too many incidents in Smallville that have left him scarred for life. He was about to start the engine when he heard a small cry from outside.
He looked up from the ignition to see a boy that looked no older than nine or ten run into an alley with a man all in black dripping with chains running after him. Phoenix dropped his keys to the floor bored and got out of the car and took off running after them. Phyre who had been in the back seat the whole time knew that this was an opportunity too good to pass up and followed behind Phoenix invisible to all.
Phoenix could hear the boy crying out in pain and turned around the corner to gasp at what he saw. The man had the boy up against the wall pounding into him mercilessly. The man cried out as the child screamed and he raised a knife and stabbed it into the child’s back before Phoenix could do anything. The boy did not even cry out, just fell silent as the man pulled out and let the body fall to the ground.
The man turned to face Phoenix pulling his pants up flashing the knife at him. Phyre whispered into Phoenix’s ear as the man stepped over the boys body, “Look at what he’s done.”
Phoenix felt a tear fall from his eye as he gazed at the child. He looked a lot like Kal did at that age. He had golden skin, blue eyes, and that shaggy black hair. The man stepped towards him and Phoenix said, “Stop.”
The man did exactly what he said. He looked around in confusion as to why he could make his legs move. Phyre saw this and whispered, “Does that child not deserve justice?”
Phoenix started to tremble, “Drop the knife.” The man did so and it clanged when it hit the ground at his feet. Phyre smiled darkly as he hissed, “What if that had been Kal?”
Phoenix started to walk towards the little boy and the man cried out, “What have you done to me you freak?”
Phoenix hissed, “Silence.”
He knelt down at the boy’s side looking at the empty blue eyes looking at nothing. The man was fighting to move his legs and open his mouth to scream but all he could do was muffle. Phoenix pulled the boy into his lap as Phyre walked over to him whispering, “What if that was Kal lying in your arms now?”
Phoenix looked down at the boy and closed those blue eyes. He squeezed the boy gently and Phyre knelt down to his ear, “Make this man pay. He raped that child. He killed that child. You have the power to make it right.”
Phoenix closed his eyes and took a deep breath hissing, “Murderer.”
The man was fighting to move his legs and scream but couldn’t. Phoenix laid the child’s body back down carefully, “You will pay.”
He walked over to the man and hissed, “Pull down your pants.”
The man had no choice but to do as he was told and Phoenix looked at him disgust, “You liked what you did to that innocent child?”
The man fought against the hypnotic voice to not nod his head but he had no choice and he did. Phoenix smiled darkly as Phyre whispered again, “Make him pay.”
Phoenix looked back at the half naked child seeing only Kal in his eyes and then he took out his wrath on the man, “Touch your cock.”
The man did so and moaned as it got hard again and Phoenix just smiled. He kept rubbing his cock until it was hard and dripping.
“Now,” Phoenix said, “I want you to pick up that knife you used to kill that child and cut your cock off that you used to steal that child’s innocence.”
The man moved his mouth to scream but couldn’t. He watched in fear as his hand moved the knife towards his cock biting in. Phoenix watched in deep satisfaction as the man cut his pecker off and it fell to the ground covered in blood and other bodily fluids.
Phoenix threw his head back and laughed, “Did that hurt?”
The man’s eyes rolled up in his head and he fell to the ground in a puddle of blood that was forming rather quickly beneath him.
What just took place was not what Phyre had had in mind, but it worked. He got Phoenix to use his powers for evil and he was now his forever. He fell back into the shadows and was gone.
**********************************************************
Piper and Paige orbed to the P3 parking lot and looked around. Piper ran over to the car, “He’s not here!”
Paige asked, “What about inside?”
Both took off running when they heard evil laughter and a loud moan of pain as if it was a muffled scream. The both quickly ran to the alley to see Phoenix standing over a man who was half naked and on the ground in a pool of blood.
“Phoenix,” Paige shouted.
Phoenix looked up smiling with tears in his eyes, “He got what he deserved.”
Piper saw the body of a boy behind him and gasped, “Oh my god.”
Phoenix looked at the blood that came from the child on his hands and turned to look at the boy, “I’m sorry.”
Paige and Piper went to run to him but he vanished in flaming red orbs. Paige gasped and Piper screamed, “LEO!”
He orbed down to see the carnage and blanched. Piper yelled, “Heal this son of a bitch before he dies!”
He ran over and quickly rolled the man over and placed his hands over the wound. Since it was inflicted against his will he was able to heal it.
Paige quickly pulled out her cell, “911, yes this is Paige Halliwell. There has been a rape and murder at P3.”
The man tried to get up and Piper instantly froze him, “Bastard!”
Leo checked the boy to dine him already dead, “What happened?”
Both sisters looked at him sadly, “Phoenix.”
Leo shook his head, “This mans not dead so there should be a chance to save him.”
Piper shook her head, “He used his powers for evil Leo. He somehow got this bastard to cut his own pecker off for what he did.”
Leo thought for a second, “He thought he was dealing out justice.”
“Maybe there is a chance,” Piper said looking at the man responsible for the near fall of her little brother. She kicked him in the head with her sharp heel knocking him out just as the police cars rolled in to save the day.
************************************************
Phoenix stood in his living room in Metropolis covered in the blood of that innocent child. He had made that man pay and yet he did not feel any better. He found out that he had sisters who said that he was a witch and a white whatever. His biological mother and grandmother are now ghosts. Clark might be a demon and he was covered in that child’s blood. It was all over his shirt, pants, and hands.
He fell to his knees and cried out as he ripped at the carpet with his fingers. He cried and ripped at it until his fingernails bled. Suddenly his eyes became really, really hot and he looked up as fire shot from them destroying everything he had been looking at.
He quickly closed his eyes for a few seconds to calm down and then opened them back up. Everything that was in front of him was completely destroyed, and he didn’t care. It felt good to destroy things. It made the hurt inside go away for a little bit.
Phoenix slowly got to his feet and walked out of the room and into the bedroom. He could not go to Clark after what he did. What would Clark think? That question made even more tears fall from his eyes as he walked into the bathroom. He quickly removed his clothes and stepped under the hot spray. He scrubbed himself and cried out because no matter how hard he scrubbed he could not get the blood off him. He fell to his knees under the spray and curled up into a tight ball.
Phyre flamed in and saw the destruction in the living room. That brought a smile to his face. Now that Phoenix had committed evil, he could track his consort no matter where he went. Phoenix belonged to him now. He could hear the sound of the shower running and went into the bedroom to knock on the door, “Phoenix, its Clark.”
He waited a minute and did not receive an answer, so he quickly tried to open it but it was locked. He silently broke the lock and opened the door.
“Phoenix,” he called out not seeing anyone standing in the shower. So he went to x-ray vision and saw his beloved skeleton huddled down in a tight ball on the floor. He ran over and opened the door only for him to be assaulted by a billow of steam. He heard a small whisper that was very auditable, “Clark?”
Steam rolled out as he quickly turned the shower off. Phoenix was lying in a tight ball and looked paler than Phyre had ever seen him before. Phyre looked at his lips to see them chattering and they reminded him of they way Phoenix’s looked after he got done eating a blue snow cone.
He quickly grabbed the towel of the rack and heated it with his heat ray and started to dry his beloved off. Phoenix was shivering terribly and tried to escape his touch, “Phoenix, it’s ok, you’re ok.”
Phoenix wanted to cry out for him to not touch him. He was dirty and did not want to be touched. Couldn’t Clark see that he was covered in blood?
Phyre moved to pick him up and Phoenix cried out and pushed himself as far back in the corner of the shower he could go, “Stop! You’ll get blood all over you!”
Phyre pulled back realizing that his beloved was in shock from what had happened to the kid. He got into the shower and pulled a struggling Phoenix into his arms and Phoenix screamed in a deep voice, “DON’T TOUCH ME!”
The fire beams shot out of his eyes hitting Phyre square in the chest throwing him back through the shower door and into the opposite wall. Phyre laid there looking at a very pale and very naked Phoenix with glowing red eyes standing in what was left of the shower with his red hair blowing wildly around his face.
Phoenix seemed to blink a few times and came back to himself. He looked over to see Phyre lying on his back looking up at him with scorch marks all over his shirt and jeans, “Oh my god, Clark,” he cried and jumped out of the broken shower to get to him, “Are you ok?”
Phyre looked at him and got to his feet, “I’m fine Phe.”
Phoenix slowly nodded his head and looked around the destroyed bathroom wondering how the hell his eyes did that but first, “Clark?”
“Yeah,” he asked, “What is it?”
Phoenix looked at him as if he was about to just run away and hide somewhere but instead said, “I really need to tell you something.”
Phyre put a finger over his mouth and said softly, “First I want to show you something.”
Phoenix really needed to tell him as he watched him take off a ring he had never seen before and put it in his pocket. Phyre closed his eyes and kept the tears back at the pain he just caused his Phe. He took Phoenix’s hands in his and said, “Promise me you won’t get scared Phe. It’s only me.”
Phoenix did not understand what was going on. He had just killed a man and here Clark was telling him not to be scared. Phoenix nodded his head and allowed Phyre to lead him into the bedroom and have him set on the bed. Phyre knew that he did what he had to do in order to protect Phoenix. He just wished he could have done it without the ring.
Phoenix watched him look at him uncertainly and Phoenix could not keep it inside anymore, “I just told a man to cut his cock off Clark, and he did.”
Phyre looked at him and the tears he saw in those haunted emerald eyes broke his heart. He knelt before Phoenix and took his hands in his, “Its ok Phe.”
Phoenix shook his head, “He raped that boy and then stabbed him,” he cried hysterically, “I enjoyed having him kill himself Clark. I enjoyed watching his life bleed out under him.”
Phyre watched the tears stream from those beautiful eyes, “My sisters saw me do it Clark.”
Phyre pretended to be confused, “Your sisters?”
Phoenix tensed, “It’s a long complicated story,” he said and then shook his head, “Didn’t you hear me? I killed a man!”
Phyre kissed his hands, “Its ok Phe. I know. I watched.”
Phoenix went deathly still, “What?”
Phyre knew that this was going to be hard but he knew Phoenix loved him more than life itself, “It was your decision to use your powers the way you did,” oh he was such a liar, “Who was I to stop you from bringing that child justice?”
Phoenix shook his head and then screamed, “You could have saved that child’s life!”
“I only got there when the child was on the ground dead,” Phyre lied.
Phoenix shook his head, “I couldn’t see you.”
“I didn’t want to be seen,” he told him, “You had a choice to make and I didn’t want to get in the way.”
Phoenix just stared at him uncertainly, “Do you think differently of me now?”
Phyre kissed his hands, “I love you so much Phe. You did what you had to do.”
Phoenix shook his head, “I’m sorry I snapped at you Clark.”
Phyre ran his fingers through his soft red hair and said, “I want to show you something.”
Phoenix nodded and Phyre said, “Don’t ever be afraid of me Phe. I love you more than anything and I would never do anything to hurt you if I can prevent it.”
Phoenix hid his confusion as he watched him slowly change right before his eyes. He watched his black hair softly shimmer and melt into long raven locks that streamed down his back and over his shoulders. Phoenix’s eyes widened as that golden skin slowly darkened to become the color of a ripe cherry. Glossy black horns curled around his temples and he looked up at Phoenix with eyes the color of the darkest abyss that burned with a black fire so bright it could blind if he chose.
Phoenix looked down at those familiar hands that held his to see long glossy black talons for nails that looked as though they could tear through steel, and he knew they could. This was the demon from his vision. The old woman had been right. His boyfriend he thought he had known for years was a demon. Hot tears fell down his cheeks as his Clark looked up at him with those dark puppy dog eyes that made him want to give Clark anything that was in his power to give and right now that was a lot.
Phyre squeezed his hands gently and his voice had deepened somewhat, “It’s still me Phe.”
Phoenix took a deep breath as he slowly ran his fingers through that dark ebony hair. Phyre leaned into the touch and Phoenix said in what sounded barely to be a whisper, “I saw you kill someone in my vision.”
Phyre’s expression changed to one of severity and Phoenix flinched but Phyre reassured him with a soft smile, “I would never hurt anyone Phe unless they were to hurt you or me first.”
Phoenix moved his hand over to touch the horns and he ran his fingers up and down the glossy surface that sent chills through Phyre’s body. He quickly took Phoenix’s hand in his and said, “That tickles.”
Phoenix slid back on the bed and pulled the covers up around him, “Is Clark even your real name?”
Phyre stood up and Phoenix could not help himself. The demon looked amazing. Phoenix waited for an answer and Phyre finally said, “No.”
Phoenix turned his head to the side, “What is it then?”
Phyre put a knee up on the bed and crawled up to him, “My father called me Phyre.”
“Fire,” Phoenix asked.
Phyre smiled, “Yeah, only he spelled it P.H.Y.R.E.”
Phoenix nodded his head trying to take all of this in. “Lets see now,” he thought to himself, “He now had a half sister, a twin, a mother and a grandmother that were ghosts, a demonic boyfriend, I can now float, shoot fire from my eyes, have visions, I can tell people what to do and they have no choice but to do my evil bidding.”
So far today has been the best damn day of his life. His world was falling apart and his life with Clark turned out to be one big lie. He started to sing in his head, “Phoenix’s world is crashing down, crashing down, crashing down.”
How could he keep something like this from him for all of these years?
Phyre looked at him, “I’m sorry Phe.”
Phoenix closed his eyes, “How could you lie to me?”
Phyre knew that this would come and he steadied himself, “To protect you from the evils of my world.”
Phoenix moved away from him and Phyre missed the contact, “What do you mean?”
Phyre ripped his shirt off and Phoenix’s gaze fell to the symbol on his chest. Phyre slowly reached out his hand careful not to spook Phoenix and took it in his, “Touch my symbol.”
“Why,” Phoenix asked already knowing the answer.
“To show you everything,” he said, “I can’t lie to you anymore.”
Phoenix looked at him with some hope in his eyes. Phyre put his hand to his chest and watched as he gasped and threw back his head. So many images flashed through his mind that he cried out and fell back onto the pillows. Phyre was over him instantly afraid he had been hurt. Phoenix got his bearings and looked up into the adult face of his childhood friend.
Phoenix reared back and smacked him across the face which only hurt his hand somewhat. He hissed in pain as he looked at the hurt in Phyre’s eyes, “Don’t you look at me like you didn’t deserve that you lying, no good, secret keeping bastard!”
Phyre looked at him sadly, “I’m sorry Phe.”
Phoenix laughed hysterically as if that made it all better, “You erased my memories so many times Kal it’s amazing I still know my own name. You were afraid to trust me,” he hissed, “I saw it all.”
Phyre spoke softly, “My father called me Phyre. My biological father calls me Kal-El of Krypton.”
Phoenix snorted, “I know, I saw.”
Phyre nodded, “I didn’t have a choice Phe. I did all of this to protect you. I was afraid that if you knew the whole truth you wouldn’t love me anymore.”
Phoenix closed his eyes as he fought the bitter pain he was feeling. He loved Kal, Clark, Phyre, whatever the hell his name was with all his heart. Hell, this creature pouring his soul out to him was his heart.
He reached out and touched his cheek, “I love you Kal.”
Phyre looked at him, “You still do?”
Phoenix smiled, “Of course.”
Phyre smiled as he took Phoenix by the lips and Phoenix put his hands on his chest to push him off him to be hit by another vision. Phyre looked at him in confusion, “What?”
Phoenix opened his eyes and anger bled through that made those emerald pools bubble with wrath. He leaned up and whispered into his ear, “You had me Kal, no matter what your secrets,” Phyre noted the use of the past tense, “Why did that child have to die like that?”
