Rose clutched her stomach tightly, feeling the emptiness with a pang of sorrow. She’d lost her daughter in the wake of her sister’s car accident, the shock to her system causing sufficient stress for her body to miscarry.
Sad, she reached out and grasped her niece’s hand, then wrapped her arm around Madison’s waist, swinging her up onto her hip.
Rose had had to smuggle Madison into the SGC, then steal a prototype ship from the SGC to get all the way out here. She’d just reached the edge of the Pegasus galaxy, using the spooled FTL jump capability. Now she was going to try to use the Gate network to try and find the Athosians or the Genii. Actually, the Genii, she’d memorized their gate codes.
