ch 8
Sara sat in front of her computer contemplating what to write: You always do that. You hurt me and then you say something and I don’t know if I want to hug you or kiss you. Nope too much info. Sara quickly deleted that writing instead. I’ll give you one thing. You know how to make me smile.
He sat staring blankly at the computer screen waiting for it to boot up. He prayed that there was a response from Sara. He was curious to see her reaction to his last reply. New Message blinked and he opened it to reveal what it said:

He went to work on responding to her. After her last reply, he decided to become a little more brave with his own responses:

Sara,
I don't really mean to do it. I'm sorry; I will tell you I'm sorry for the rest of my life if it will help.
I know how to make you smile? I love your smile.
Grissom
He clicked send, happy with what he had written. He was pleased with where their newfound relationship was going. With a smile on his face, he went to hand out assignments. He still didn’t want to rush things so he paired himself with Greg and Sara and Sofia both solo.
Sara looked at him and shot him a smile. It was the first time in months she had showed any type of affection in public unless you count the scowls and the silent treatment. They had been the overpowering factor in recent months.
Grissom headed out in the field with Greg. He liked working with him. He was young and vibrant, all of the things he never was and never could be. In the truck on the way to the crime scene they barely talked. This wasn’t overly unusual with Grissom.
“Griss, can I ask you a question?” Greg asked breaking the silence.
“I guess…yes.” Grissom stammered.
“What has changed to make you happy?” He asked not quite knowing what to expect.
“What do you mean?” Grissom asked in a mock reply.
“Well lately you have been smiling, it’s different, is all, I was just wondering what the root of it was?”
“Very observant of you Greg,” Grissom said with praise. “You are going to make a fine CSI. The thing is I changed a few things in my life. It is working in my favor right now.”
“Ok.” Greg left it at that because he realized for Grissom to shear that much had been a stretch. They pulled up to their crime scene and got to work.
Grissom arrived early for his weekly appointment with Dr. Duluth. He was beginning to look forward to them. It was a happy change for him. He sat in the waiting room waiting for his turn.
“Grissom,” Sara said as she approached him. “I got your last email, it was amazing, I love you so much will you please give me a chance?”
Grissom smiled. “I thought you’d never ask.”
He took her hand and they walked off together.
He was jolted out of his wonderful daydream by a hand on his shoulder. He looked up and saw the doctor looking down at him.
“Are you ready, Grissom?”
“Yes, mame.” He said getting up and following her into the room.
She shut the door behind him. “So, how have things been?”
“Better, much better.”
“Care to explain?”
“Well, I think those S-A meetings are really helping me.”
“Really?”
“Yes, when I left Wednesday night, I went straight to work.”
“What would you have done before?”
“Left and went to the Brothel then go home for a shower. Sometimes I’d masturbate before work, sometimes I’d wait till I got to work.”
“So this is a breakthrough?”
He smiled. “Yeah, I guess it is.”
“So, how are things going with Sara?”
“Good. Our emails are getting more in-depth. They are getting more personal.”
“Have you talked with her outside of these emails?”
“No. The emails are it. I’m taking baby steps.”
She nodded. “Good for you. Is there anything else you wish to discuss today?”
“I’m happy you introduced me to Marvin. It showed me that I needed to persevere.”
“I’m glad. I’m happy for you, Grissom. I know this will work out in the end.”
“Thanks.”
“That is it for our session today. For next week I want you to continue to email Sara. I also want you to continue with the S-A meetings. I also want you to talk to Sara, just say hi, start a verbal relationship.”
“All right.” He got up and headed home.
He lay on his bed with his thoughts. They were all of the same person. Sara. His thoughts wouldn’t leave him alone.
“Sara Sidle.”
“Present.”
He looked at the gorgeous young brunette with the big brown eyes. He was hooked.
Grissom smiled as he recalled his first meeting with Sara. He squeezed his eyes closed again.
“Sara, won’t you come in.”
She stood awkwardly at the door not wanting to move. She let her guard down and came into his hotel room.
She came to be tutored and we ended up making love. It felt so wrong but so right all at the same time.
He put his hands behind his head. “Whatever happened to us, Sara?” He asked to the empty room. “Oh right, I left for Vegas and you stayed in Frisco. What a fool I was. Then I asked you here and you came. You came for me.
“You’ve always been more than a boss to me. Why do you think I moved to Vegas?”
Me. She came here for me and what have I done for her. Nothing! Made her miserable, I don’t deserve her. He drifted off to sleep.
